Strings: Ernie Ball Strings. sometimes hybrid slinky, sometimes skinny top heavy bottom depending on the tension i want on the guitar. i tend to use the lighter strings on guitars i like to track leads with. and heavier strings on rhythm guitars

tom went with the starcaster for a reason, its cool to hear you liked it so much! blink is really in a renaissance right now
The only reason he "went" with the starcaster was it's size. He still wanted to play Gibson. Gibson being dumb told him since he's not their artist anymore they don't have his signature blueprints and he'd have to put an order through their custom shop and wait over a year. He needed 16 for his upcoming tours. Aaron Rubin worked with Fender to put this together and they just showed Tom and he was like yeah I'll play it. Tom only asked for a Dirty Fingers pickup, not knowing it's a Gibson brand pickup.

Heck yeah man! I was able to get my hands on the pink one from fender and i absolutely love the thing! Great sound, smooth and smooth playability.

The only thing I think I'd change if I owned one is I'd swap the pick up ring with a white/cream one.

Buying the Olympic White one this week!! I currently play a Tele Thinline Deluxe live and used to play a 335, so I think this will feel great. I played one in the store the other day and I couldn't believe how good it felt in my hands. Thanks for the review!
I do wish they made a lighter neck and headstock, but oh well lol
I have a Indonesian Squier that I upgraded with Seymour Duncan pickups, Gotoh hardware and made in USA pots and electronics and its my favorite guitar. I also have a Fender made in Mexico, but it doesn't play as easy, its heavy, sharp frets. I dont know what it is, but the Squier just feels amazing
So happy that the starcaster won you over! How could you not ? It's the best of the signature strat and gibson combined into one.

Nice. Glad you like it. As a smaller dude myself I just don’t think a bigger bodied guitar like that would be comfortable for me. The neck looks awesome minus the glossy part.
The only place that had a white one was my local GC.. took it home. Just had to lower the action a little. Love it ( & one pickup guitars in general).

I remember during the Zane Lowe interview he was playing the green starcaster and it had black binding. I like the white binding too but man I wish they kept the black. Sounds so good though

What's stopping me from getting this guitar is the price, but if i ever get the money to buy definitely getting the white or the pink one. I'm happy just to have his epi es333 signature.
Building my own starcaster, bought a matte black body online and actually will be using a gibson dirty fingers pickup inside - the pickup in the signature model worried me a bit and i like the hotter pickups. Great to hear your thoughts and use it as a template for my build

Very good taste in amp tone - which axe model did you use? Thick, aggressive without a ton of gain, lots of mids - exactly what I like!
I don’t know why, but I’ve not heard anyone use the phrase “mix between strat and 335”. I’m not sure why that’s important, maybe it’s not relevant? But would you say it takes the best of both? To me, I love the body of a 335 but the playability of the strat. Is it that?

Im not gonna lie, after playing a few mexican, indonesian, korean and japanese guitars, i would usually lean towards, japanese and indonesian guitars. Quality is amazing.
Do you have any recommendations for hard shell cases? Fenders not selling one for this. I just bought mine as well.
I’d also like to see you cover “I Miss You” the live version at Red Bull Sound Space. I think that’s the best version of that song ever and I’d love to see it to learn hoe to play those added parts.
Something about it sounds fizzy. But that’s also how it has sounded live on tour. I’m sure you could get the tone dialed in to be more chunked.
I dialed this tone in super fast. Its basically what I use with my black jazz which has a p90 with a couple EQ tweaks. You could really make it sound a lot of different ways depending on your rig

It would be nice to see how this guitar behaves with C# or C tunings, even with 0.9s you find it difficult. but if you like them, an ADTR cover would be nice. Anyway I love your sound!!!!
C tuning would work fine with some heavier strings. Certainly not with 9s

How does the indonesia feel compared? Does the wood feel glossy and fake or does it have that legit fender feel?

Honestly I'd consider just staying with the 9s for the time being. Or maybe 9.5-46 (hybrid slinky)

what do u think about sh5 vs dirty fingers? imo sh5 sounds like shit through mesa boogie triple rec compared to my epiphone with dirty fingers. whats ur thoughts?
I wouldn't call it a shit pickup. But if youre used to a super high output pickup like the dirty fingers, then yeah the custom is gonna sound a little weak in comparison

The more I hear this guitar on reviews, regardless of amp it has a very specific sound. It’s obviously the hollowbody, and setup as well. But I could see it cool live, or fitting nicely on studio tracks. Also be interested to hear the body stuffed to dampen.
I like the fretboard and neck so much…I’ve played some Fernandez, and Fender Teles with similar necks as this. Also the pickup is more forgiving than the Invader.
But up against the DG Epiphone…the DG covers everything a beginner or pro would need. Not too hot on the Laurel choice for neck. But I think the DG looks better. But this is a real Fender with maplewood. I would love if they just swapped. But it’s two different premiums, and I think Starcaster is a good arsenal guitar.
Def waiting for demand to catch up, as the last release used they go $800-$900. So gonna wait on this one, get it used and slap some offensive kick ass stickers on it!
