“Anyone aged 20-30” is a stretch. I’d say 30-40 would be more accurate 😂 I’m 34 and this is bang in my era..
Try 35-50. I was 17 when Cheshire Cat was released. I'm 46 now.
You were like 9 when Blink 182 recorded Cheshire Cat.
22 here lol
21 here and seeing them in August
Im 49 and Im what you call an OG Blink fan..... 😎
“Everyone 20 to 30” 😂 you’re too kind to us, John!!
Yeah I think there’s some 40 to 50s in there too 😂
...and every emo chick that doesn't know the band but wears the tee 2006 era. LOL!
Yeah more like 30 - 45
I think more so just millennials in general. People in their 30-40 saw them in their early years. Then at the same time alot of people born in the 90s grew up with blink too
I’m 41. They got huge when I was in high school. They were the soundtrack to my teenage, formative, years.
Yeah dude, 20 years ago they weren’t even a band..
@@E6ABHnavythey formed in 1992…?
In hindsight, us Blink fans are older than I thought. Good fun though this!!
Man that intro made me smile immediately. Great throwback. Thanks for the video.
This sorta made me choke up at the beginning. Wasn’t expecting to hear What’s My Age Again on an Andertons video. Felt like traveling through time 20 years with a tow cable and yanking my past self right up to now. Thanks Ben, John (and Tom). 👽
I’m so glad they changed the headstock to the strat one
I'm not. I liked the original better
I love new headstock too, the usual starcaster look super weird to me tho.
I haven't bought myself a new guitar in ten years. I love the look of this guitar am a fan of blink and tom so i think im gonna treat myself.
I literally change my mind on which color I would want every ten minutes. Which one is the one?!
Really nice guitar vocalizing for What's My Age Again in that intro part John! 🤘 I was singing along!
I love the Duncan Custom, I guess it makes sense that he went to that after the Dirty Fingers (IIRC) in his Gibsons.
"What's My Age Again" will be 25 years old this year.
Absolutely loved the jams. With all the virtuoso playing recently, forgotten how much we grew up listening to straight on amazing melodious punk rock!
Johnny Greenwood. Starcaster legend.
I just scrolled down the comments looking for this one.
Sounds awesome! Such a nice guitar 🤘
Please don't take this the wrong way but this is the single greatest demo ever on this channel!
the love these guys. they cracked me up with the banter.
the graphics on digital john's solo made me laugh you guys are hilarious
Awesome intro!
Damn, these boys can jam! Great job showing off its basics
Tom’s main amp for years was a Mesa / Boogie Dual Rectifier which is why he had such a massive crunch to his sound. PS great demo!
Paired with a Marshall JCM 900. The Marshall is key, it's why he had so much clarity even with all the saturation from the Mesa
That intro is fire 🔥
I've never really been into strats or the hollowbody guitars but for some reason this one I'm really digging.
Starcaster is a vastly underrated guitar🎉
nice touch at the end mr john 🤣
It has a treble bleed circuit, it cleans up when you roll the volume back
That's a beautiful guitar
Those necks and headstocks are BEAUTIFUL. I love roasted maple.
These are very cool guitars! Not sure that I’d get one myself but none the less cool. The only thing I don’t really like is the super brown headstock. The gold and pink ones seemed to have lighter ones that look more like a vintage tint. So if I ever got one it would be the gold. Nice review btw guys!
On a semi-hollow with a Duncan SH-5, you could really do just about anything you can do on a bridge pickup.
Love that tom is back in the band. Tom is the reason i love one pickup guitars. Now that we have the reissue strat and the starcaster out, would love to see a production mark hoppus bass
Finally, locking tuners and actual inlays. Not the painted white ones on the stratocaster.
Great demo with good vibes 🙂and despite not being a fan of pop-punk or starcasters, I would say a bigger selection of bridge pickup only guitars is awesome, not everyone is such a nuanced player to have a use for a neck pickup.
King fish used to play one. Dope looking guitar!
Nothing looks better than a roasted maple neck. Always been a fan of roasted necks.
That introduction of DJentleman Ben and Digital John will get me everytime - I swear :D
TOM WAS RIGHT!!!! 👽
Didn’t doubt him for a second
With the release of both the Strat and Starcaster, perhaps now would be the perfect time to do "sound like Blink-182 BY busting the bank"?? 👀
The brown one is beautiful.
Leo Nocentelli from the Meters plays vintage Starcasters with the cool headstock.
I really like the sound. My dad built me a Wolf guitar with Invader pickups and this one sounds like a darker/dirtier version of the Invader pickups. I REALLY like the sound of this Starcaster.
Interesting that it says made in Indonesia, designed in California. Wonder what other fender models will be made in Indonesia now?
like Blink, love a chunk of Blink stuff, and I REALLY like the Starcaster (not just this one, but the normal SC too). I'm digging these, in the colours offered, with a the big normal headstock. I'm just not that fussed by the Tom Delonge bit!
Maybe an FSR one without the sig stuff?
Tengo la Fender,la Epipohne y tendré que comprarme ésa ahora 😂
i like how the starcaster looks similar to Jim Root's fender strat because both guitars had one pickup and one volume knob only.
There is also a treble bleed in the volume pot too.
Do a shootout comparing the strat to the starcaster!
They have the bleeder on the knob and the custom seymour pickup.
Tune those bad boys!!
I love the single bridge pick up look. But why the Easter colors. If there a was burst type finish I’d probably be inclined to buy one
Tabs please for the vocal line! That was fire! 🔥
Are the bindings real or are they painted on? Haven't seen anyone comment on them besides the colors
Tom Delonge often played through MESA recto's and which are basically modded SLOs (the power section is very different on the modern settings however) and JCM 900s, so I think the SLO made sense here.
Dave Keuning from the Killers played/plays the Starcaster years before Tom did
Should I get the surf green or shoreline gold. 🤔
Please recommend a gig bag suitable for Fender Starcaster.
I have now purchased the product and it is being shipped, so I need to buy a gig bag quickly.
seeing this demo... makes u realize even more how simple the b182 music really is... whats makes it groove is the drums and their vocals... was the sound of my youth... still loving it - with a new perspective :)
Dave Keuning and Mark
Stoermer from the Killers used starcasters
@andertonsmusicco Tom used a daisy chained dual rectifier/jcm900 during his fender strat days through a mesa 4x12 and marshall 4x12 cab. Dialed in by Jerry Finn. Definitely a unique tone. Very sought after even to this day. In the current, Tom uses mostly Vox amplifiers during his gibson/starcaster time.
which color is best in person?
Def 30-40. Haha. Tom has always been one of my favorite guitarists and one of my biggest influences.
I hope they make this guitar a regular in the line up - but a double pickup version.
Johnny Greenwood uses a Starcaster too
I feel like these would make absolutely awesome doom metal guitars.
Does Fender '69 set have a rwrp middle pickup?
More of these two please @andertons
I almost bought the squire but the Gretch at $500 was way better, still want one
imagine Tory Slusher with one of those working her jazz fusion magic 😍
More like 20-45 lol i still love his strat in Daphne blue the best😊
Hum, the guitar really cuts through. Has me thinking thinking how to use the guitar and sound just as it is, but in different styles
20-30?!?!? Their second album Dude Ranch came out when I was 15 and I’m 42 now. 🤣
Exactly man. I saw them live in 96 when I was 18 and I'm 46 now.
Fender would have a triumph deluxe here if they made a non-signature version of this guitar with two humbuckers or P-90s (along with a variant that had a Bigsby as well). The DeLonge Starcaster is too "one-trick-pony" for my tastes...
100% agree. I'd say the starcaster body/70s headstock look with double humbuckers is pretty close to my perfect guitar. If they made one made in USA I'd pretty much purchase it immediately
i really like the white one. its a goofy looking guitar but its cool.
more john and ben pls
You guys couldn't be more wrong about the age group. I 1st saw Blink 182 when I was 18 years old live at The Playroom, Tallebudgera, Gold Coast, Queensland Australia in 1996. I'm 46 now so there you go. I've been listening to Blink since Cheshire Cat album. These guitars are more for the 35-50 year range. People in the 20-35 year range now were not born yet or like 8 when Blink were in their prime years. I was 17 when I discovered them in the 90s.
I’m a little bit older than you. I believe I saw them at the Reef in Noosa about 1994. Scott was drumming. From memory they only had a demo out and toured to showcase that.
But I could be a bit blurry.
I was 10 when self titled came out. It was the perfect age to love blink, as in another 2 years my curiosity for music would run rampant.
My Starcaster will be here this week, as my 31st birthday present to myself
I mean he isn’t far off though. I think the more general term millennial would be better. I grew up with blink, and they are one of my favorite bands. Id say alot of millennials were excited when tom rejoined the band. I saw them on the reunion tour last year, and it was definitely a bunch of people in their 20s-30s
@@OddoRocketThat's great however the original fan base and the still by far the largest are more genX than millennials. It's great though that millennials are getting into these bands as well. I have 4 boys aged from 8 to 18 and they all love blink as well and only listen to grunge, punk and 80s and 90s metal. My children laugh there heads off at millennials music as do I😂. Old Blink is better than new Blink would you agree?
@@ClintsGuitarsNGear i wouldn’t say millennials are “just getting into the band”. Alot of millennials grew up with blink. Im a millennial, and Ive been listening to blink for practically 20 years. I remember buying a blink guitar book in elementary school, which i still have today. Im a huge blink fan, and i think all of their stuff is great, with the exception of dog eat dog
Can you play Jazz on these guitars ?
I say this on pretty much every fender video. FENDER! PLEASE COLOUR MATCH THE HEADSTOCK! (or at least make it black)
Squier version please

So fender is willing to make starcasters, just only for Tom?
I’m curious why they are using the Fender branding when these are Made in Indonesia - not that there’s anything wrong with that, my Indonesian-made Squier CV Starcaster absolutely slaps, but is this made in the same factory?
There was a líne Made in china years ago, the Fender modern player
They dont have the ability to make these at their regular "fender" locations, and it doesnt feel right for it to say squire on a guitar thats supposed to replicate his fender.
I see prices for these are£999+....for a guitar made in Indonesia. Foooking hell!!! Dammit, I still want one.
I just got the Dave grohl epi. I can’t keep buying guitars.
I’m gonna wait for the hype to die down and scoop a used one up. No way I’ll pay that full price for a slightly upgraded squier classic vibe
Do Pete and Lee have something against blink-182? This is twice now they’ve not been the ones to show off the new Tom DeLonge guitars all the videos we get with the same rehash of a Les Paul or Stratocaster and when something genuinely new comes along there nowhere to be seen🥸🥸
Nice review though lads 🤘.
Probably let the young guys do it coz they are more into Blink-182 and more capable of jamming in that style. Would be funny to see Lee and Pete open the video playing their usual relaxing bluesy jam on these though.
I would rather say digitally-djenty duo fits better in this style than Mayery-Prince'y duo ;)
Lee and Pete are complete dags. I don't understand their boring boomer taste in music myself as I'm not into old crap and I'm about the same age as Lee. I'm gen X. Lee should be playing and listening to punk, grunge, alternative and metal. But he listens and constantly goes on about 80s boomer rock
It would be a tremendous disservice to the guitar and audience buying it if they had the captain and danish pete playing dad blues on this 😂
Seen blink on Chesire cat /dude ranch just came out
I’m 43 so…. 🦖
need a lot of stickerssssssssssssssssssssssssss.
Wait, what's my age again??
They played in a festival recently festival in Brazil, it was broadcasted by cable tv.
Not a big fan, but I watched the whole concert. It was pretty cool.
He never played the strat. There were no amps in stage, and he was using a quad cortex. Digital Tom, I guess.
During their last tour Tom was using Fractal Axe-Fx III controlled by Blackstar MIDI controller, I am not sure if he switched to Quad Cortex for South American shows
@manwestguitar It very well could be the fractal, but I think I remember seeing the 45-degree angled switches on the controller. But it could be something else, I'm not that familiar with this kind of gear. The Offspring also played the same day, whitout amps. I'm pretty sure they were using fractals, but they had cabinets on stage. Blink was 100% in ears.
Tom split his signal and played through a Mesa and a Marshall at the same time
6:25 🤣
I like the way they sound and look. The silver one would be my pick.
There isnt a silver one though?
Tom who? Oooh that UFO disclosure guy.
I actually liked the old headstock swoosh...i think they really could've made that look amazing and "expensive" if they borrowed from some other great looking guitar's with 2-tone headstock designs.
But thats still a great looking guitar. Better watch the rest for the specs n @ now
30-40*
This thing is made in Indonesia and costs 1200? So it's a squier CV with a 800 dollar fender sticker on it....
Has Fender been producing other models in the Far East that are sold with FENDER badging? I thought 'FENDER's were only made in USA or Mexico, and all the Asian stuff were branded SQUIRE? Except for Japan of course, but that's almost a completely separate market with instruments built exclusively for the region.
@StreetPreacherr there's one model. The Jim Adkins JA90 telecaster. But that itself is a $1100 squier paranormal series cabronita telecaster with a $800 fender sticker on the headstock. It at least has 2 extra knobs than the Squier, where this tom delonge has 3 less.
It’s very much the sore thumb of Fender’s designs, isn’t it? Leo’s early designs all follow a path of evolution where you can see the family resemblance from Tele, P Bass, Strat, Mustang, J Bass and Jazzmaster. The Starcaster is obviously designed by someone else and really feels like Fender copying the Gibson ES range. Saying that you can see it looks like it influenced the Fender EVH Wolfgang redesign and even more so WVH’s only signature model.
Why not have any of the models be USA made?
30 to 40
The fact they are rosewood and hollow bodied, give the Dave Grohl signature a run. Compare the two and the money.
