The reason this is such a banger soundtrack is bc of the way the drums are designed. Absolutely love this one and the Sega CD version of the soundtrack. What are some other soundtracks that hit like this???? I'm always looking.
@@rockojulian6281 are the drums samples or are they made from the ym2612 fm synth chip
I am a 63 year old man now! When I first played this videogame I was still an adult, with my stereo system hook-up. And, I LOVED (LOVE) Wolfchild the video game and its soundtrack! Only with the miracle of CZcams did I finally realize the different versions for SNES and SEGA CD! This version, for the Genesis, is by far my favorite. The high pitch notes stroke my brain like an opioid!
And the composer? My god he has created a whole lot of fantastic music work over the years!
Oh, you think Wolfship is fantastic? Listen to Ancient Temple and tell me you are not AWESTRUCK at this man's skills?
And plug in your headphones for full appreciation!

I'm a little younger at 47 and grew up with the Amiga version of this closely followed by the glorious SegaCD.
This is my first time hearing what I thought would be a more restricted Genesis version but nope, it flows just the same, perhaps even more considering any alterations better the music rather than hinder it!
Incredible!
Yep you are right, so many great songs and styles over the years back when it was unusual to above and beyond in video game music! Matt makes it fantastic!
Oh and for anybody interested, Martin Iveson is on CZcams as 'AtjazzRecordCompany' producing R&B and ambient records. I perfer his videogame work, but in a few of his productions there are little nods to his original videogame sounds.
One My favorite games from the past. I played it faithfully...the first stage is the air ship...get your fire ball in rare form and roarrrrr
When I first played this game it was for the SNES so imagine my surprise when I played it for the Genesis is was amazed how distinctive it's own music is and sounds. It's very Genesis and I love it!
I'm really glad the Genesis version uses the Amiga original soundtrack, instead of the new songs the Sega CD and SNES use.

The sega cd version sounds good as well, but the original music is better. Which the sega cd version had given you the option to use either soundtrack. I was a bit disappointed they changed the music.
"Wolfship" , "Jungle" and "Ancient Temple" are insane!
Thanks for sharing this masterpiece of an OST
Underrated gem of a game
This is a sick game. Never played it as a kid but got the rom and it rocks.
Clicked on this randomly... pretty kickass soundtrack
wow, Matt Furniss does it again !

moar Matt Furniss 🎶🎶🎶🎵🎹
What next, you think?
Best ones not done yet are Puggsy, ResQ and Chuck Rock 2, imo.
Bram Stoker's Dracula,
Chuck Rock (both games),
Daffy Duck in Hollywood,
G-LOC Air Battle,
The Legend of Galahad (one of his more underrated works/conversions I feel),
Mickey Mania,
Puggsy,
Second Samurai,
Sensible Soccer,
Terminator 1,
All worth a punt
Chuck Rock 2's music is fantastic. I'd say that next.
I don't think it's even originally composed by Matt Furniss though. The Amiga version came first and Matt just did the Megadrive version but kept the music mostly the same.
@@TheLegendofRenegade Second Samurai 🙏🙏I was just thinking about that game this past week for whatever reason... It's one of these overlooked underrated Sega games that people don't seem to ever remember. It has a very "unconventional" soundtrack but I feel like it fits the chaotic vibe of the game perfectly. Also, sandals with socks for extra power LOL 🤣🤣
Actually pretty amazed by the sound of the ending theme. The first hook with the beat sounds like a mid 2000s downtempo track. Was listening to the intro thinking it'd sound good with a break, dude beat me to it.
Oh, stage-specific boss themes? Those always get me excited.
*Hears Jungle* Yeah ok, this is going on my "Concentration" playlist.
The opening theme is really good. I wish I knew the notes on a synth to play it
Life is good.
This is love.
I've been listening to this for a few years now and every time , I go to check my phone to see what im listening to (because I forgot it is a vidya OST) AND I am pleasantly surprised with this vidya cover art! Good stuff
My favorite from Matt. Just a joy to listen through.
Matt Furniss was showing out on Stage 1! 🔥🔥✨Bringing the heat!! I never played this game before but this soundtrack is making me want to give it a try. 💙
I was a huge fan of this game's soundtrack on the Amiga, I was absolutely gutted when I got the Sega CD version and found it didn't have the bangin opening theme!
I want to get this game over the snes version 1, because of the music and 2, better resolution the music makes a colossal difference.
Awesome video. Glad you to see you back making videos. :)
Nice re-entry! Thanks for the smooth tunes!!
niiiiice, i've been waiting for this!
🈯 DAT FM SOUND THO 🈯
If that's you in the avatar, we look like twins lol
Damn bruh you got all the heat!🔥
You should upload Gunship, that's a truly hidden Matt Furniss score if any.
How can it be better than this?!
4:48 emulating the sound of hi-hat/cymbals with noise channel on the chip (right side of stereo)
Beautiful 🙏🙏🤘🤘
Hell yeah this games soundtrack kicks ass. It would go great with the 1987 TV series "Werewolf"
Thank you papá!!
Awesome)))
Massively improved boss music over the Amiga original
Which boss music?
@@camulodunon all of them were completely new in the Genesis release except the first boss theme which was lifted from the Amiga original
Dude I have this game. Need to start back playing it. I used to destroy this game as a kid. The last time I played I got rocked.
Some good tunes, but im so spoiled only played the Mega-CD and that soundtrack blow me away...
litterarly (just found my way home)
Was this game only released in North America? I can't seem to find any information on whether there is an official PAL release or not.
It was created by Core who were a British studio and created Tomb Raider etc. so there more than likely was.

I remember getting this game cause I thought it looked cool. It basically a way better Altered Beast
The Mega-CD soundtrack still remains my fav' (dat stage 2's music!!) but the Mega Drive one is close behind, with stages 1-2-3 combo being a fav' of mine.
Then the Amiga soundtrack is pretty good even though it suffers a bit from Amiga's limited amount of sound channels but at the same time this gives it a certain charm, some tracks are so minimalist! I love this.
And then the SNES soundtrack which is, IMO, faaaaar behind. Stage 3's music for example sounds particularly crappy.
PS: I second moar Matt Furniss music, obviously, and my requests would be:
- Zool (original Amiga music by Patrick Phelan and Mega Drive arrangements by mister Furniss right?)
- The Lost Vikings
- Galahad
- Mega lo Mania (preferably in "title theme -> menu theme -> in-game music" order)
Oh and Bram Stoker's Dracula, seemed really good from the few that I heard of it!
I can see why you consider it among the weakest Furniss soundtracks on Mega Drive, it's atmospheric stuff and the system is less suited for this style than samples-based or CD-based hardwares. But I have a soft spot for it, the title theme for personal reasons and the menu theme I think is pretty great "objectively".
But the others rock, The Lost Vikings I still didn't listen but Zool and Galahad have some awesome tunes. Zool stage 2's music is f***ing dope and Galahad world 2 and 3 are nice with some great sonorities.
@@ryzmaker11 Wolfchild's SCD and SNES soundtracks aren't even trash, stage 3 is really good around the 2nd half
Sega Genesis usually didn't have the best music during it's time, but when the music was good; it topped any songs from the SNES.
Fm synthesis is good though. I just think it's hard to come up with a good sound
I find most Genesis music good.
As much as I love this.... This soundtrack is one of those rare instances where I actually like the SNES version better. Look it up, seriously. It's such a great soundtrack. Made an otherwise mediocre game worth playing.
Much better than SNES! As with most soundtracks on both systems that I recently compared: Street Fighter II (Capcom did some awful SNES music, this and Final Fight lol), Chuck Rock (also by Matt Furniss), Mortal Kombat I and II, Captain America and the Avengers (SNES version so bad it's hilarious), Desert Strike... Funny since when you hear SNES fans, it's like SNES has the best music ever and its soundchip is way ahead of its time while actually bar a few exceptions most SNES music are bland, SNES audio is often muffled and Amiga did samples-based soundchip 5 years prior! Such a bunch of ignorants.
Exactly. There is good music on SNES but a very small amount of that is attributable to "it had a better sound chip." Most SNES games sound terrible other than the few that people keep going back to.
DUSTINODELLOFFICIAL But, does it really have a better sound chip?! When I hear the Tecnosoft games, what Matt Furniss did or what some fans currently do such as Savaged Regime's Castlevania IV covers, this just shows that the Genesis can produce as good if not better music.
It's always been an apples to oranges argument. I prefer FM because it's more expressive and more colorful in tone and harmonics. I feel like a lot of people are starting to come around to this opinion and I'm glad I've done my part to make it so!
Old muti-system game magazine of the 90s did not help either spreading the rumors, I remember one had an interview with the guy who done the music for Turrican and they asked him about sound chips and he said the super Nintendo was "much better".
DUSTINODELLOFFICIAL So SNES doesn't have better sound chip anymore? Seems rather like a matter of tastes in the end but ye FM synth is very expressive and have a lot of character!
Your channel is awesome especially since the Genesis sound is hard to properly emulate.
Originally the ost was composed for Amiga by Martin Iveson. What you hear here is just recreation, nothing more, nothing less. Sound chips make the only difference, and in my opinion, Amiga version is better.
Much inferior to Amiga version.
Nah, the Amiga version sounds quite empty compared to this version for the most part. It's a really good effort overall, but ultimately the limitations of just 2-channels really show compared to this version. It just feels like all the gaps that had to be left in the Amiga soundtrack, have been filled in here. just my two cents though, and you can think whatever you want.
This version of the Megadrive is pretty bad. The one on the SNES is good, but like the Amiga, it falls far short of the Sega CD (the only track that was excellent)
Terrible. Without the essence of SNES and Sega CD which are the best. Even worse than the Amiga version (bad too)
WTF
Actually the SCD/SNES compositions are pretty bland and weak compared to the original Amiga/MD tunes.
This dudes a joke
