to be honest I would rather spend the extra money to get a quest 3
Me 2
Do we even know how much this Quest 3s might cost in order to see if the extra money is worth it? The 512GB Quest3 is $649. IMO no way to get 128GM unless you always want to install apps from the cloud. I have only had mine a month and already have 200GB installed.
The pancake lenses itself is worth it
@@deadringer28Yeah, I was impatient and got the 128 and I'm constantly having to delete games to make room for new ones.
People with $1300 phones@@aintnohypebeast737
I think the lite will be the model they use to partner with schools/universities & the airlines.
This one doesn't excite me.. I am happy with the quest 3. I just want to see some games that use the quest 3 to its full potential.
But it should not necessarily excite you, but if you’re Quest 3 owner, this is good news. Because this is going to put more headsets in the market that can play Quest 3 games. Which is all developers really care about how many people can they sell there app or game too. This headset going to allow developers to start making more next GEN games. I also have a quest 3 and that’s why for me this is good news If you already own a quest 3 headset this isn’t targeted towards you, but you will benefit from better games because of it.
Good point.
Too bad meta spent money on hand tracking instead of eye tracking. The potato graphics really suffer without DFR.
Quest 3 with pro controllers is sweet spot.
@@float32 What is so good about the pro controller? Was thinking about it, but the money... it really doesn't seem worth the upgrade to me. Please convince me :) ? lol
I would prefer a $999 model quest 3 with micro OLED displays and eye tracking. A low, mid and high quality option would be amazing.
A Q3 with eye tracking for FR would be amazing. I'd pay an extra hundred or so for those.
I have my 100 euro OLED phone. I played half life alyx on. With Razer hydra controllers from 2012. No need pay 999 just save your money. Till they realise we needy of tech. And we needy greedy too
@@deathscretonit would be way more than a hundred...
@@bedsdt That's why I said a hundred or so. Considering Inseye (I think thats the name) came out with a product for eye tracking for about 160, i don't see why it would be much more expensive than an extra hundred to two hundred bucks.
I'm still using my Quest 2, which I've had since Jan 2021, and she's still running well. I mostly just play poker and walkabout mini golf. For those games, Q2 is good 👍
But if it ever dies, I'll definitely bye the Quest 3. I want to feel a significant upgrade, like when I went from Q1 to Q2.
It's a no brainer if u have the money, Q3 is the best option.
Quest 2 = 99. Quest 3s = 249. Quest 3 = as is 👍🏻
Quest 3 controllers are 150 for a pair so if the 3s is only 249 getting that would be an incredible deal. Don't forget it will almost definitely come in different hard drive sizes, so maybe 249 for 128 and 349 for 256.
@@deadringer28They use NAND flash memory which is the correct storage device.
The biggest question is: we will have the META QUEST GAMING SHOWCASE this year?!!!
I know that we will have META on the Summer Game Fest. But not having an event focused on the Quest platform would be disappointing. All the previous events have been a lot of fun, and now with the QUEST 3, games can have even more impressive graphics to show off in a Showcase.
As a quest 3 owner, I’m excited about this because the drop in price might be just what’s needed to get my friends and family into VR, and the more the space expands, the more developers will create more content for VR
The pancake optics are why I brought the Quest 3. Couldn't go back to the old lenses of QUets 1 and 2, the light in dark areas always had to much glare.
Bc it's LcD. U should try OLED on PSVR2 and be amazed
@@ShiYuMeng2 I had a Quest 1, the oled was excellent in it. But PSVR2 doesn't have pancake lenses and worse of all you are attached by a wire. I do all my PCVR wireless.
The pancake lenses and dual displays (with real IPD adjustment and resolution bump) is the whole reason I forked out for the Quest 3. I mostly use mine for PCVR, so the processing upgrade, colour passthrough and wifi 6e were just a nice bonus. I still use my Quest 2 for multiplayer when demonstrating to friends or playing with family, but the fresnel lenses, with the small sweet spot, glare/godrays and limited ipd adjustment, all feel very dated. Always takes me a good few minutes to get used to turning my whole head to look at things again, rather than just look.
Do you think the Q3 lite could potentially push out better performance? Due to the lower rez screens?
I love the 🥞 pancakes, though. I hop back on my Q2 once in a while and it's crazy looking through the older lenses.
Just Subscribed! I really enjoyed the video, thank you for explaining everything perfectly.
No pancakes - no deal! Crappy visuals - I don't care what else it can do.
The lenses will be fine for most average users, we have been using the Quest 2 for years after all and they have been great.
They get the power of a Quest 3 after all for less than 499.
It's not for an experienced VR user of course, so no issue.
exactly it will be even better for those who have pc too because then they get standalone + pc + color passthrough im absolutely going to get one been wanting to upgrade to quest 3 but as an oldhead just cant spend $500 on a 3 right now but i have pc too so the lite sounds great
I really appreciate this breakdown as I've been waiting to upgrade just to see if the lite was a better option. I get motion sickness in a lot of games so it sounds like paying the premium price might just be worth it for me. Esp with the eye spacer being improved in the 3. I've had the worst time with my Q2 eye spacer. Ugh! But I'm hoping they price the lite well enough more people will buy it. Most of my friends don't have VR & I'd love to be able to finally vr with others!
I really needed to hear this because I have the old 64gb quest 2 for at least 3 years and it is barely able to chug blade and sorcery
@BMFVR hopefully the headstrap setup is exactly the same so that Q2 users will be more incentivized to upgrade. If they can use all of their same accessories.
This definitely looks like they took the quest 2 and gave it the newer snapdragon chipset to give it some extra life.
This is good for consumers as it allows choice on models. Let’s just hope they don’t abandon a model due to popularity within 12 months like they did with the rift s
I don’t know I feel like some of the bigger main features are all there the depth sensor the color pass through and most importantly the chip set. From a developer standpoint that makes it next Gen. Basically it has the tech but not all of the quality of life features.
I wonder what storage options will be available. Maybe 128 GB and 256 GB or 128 and 512 GB options. That could be interesting, which they offer on the Quest 3 lite.
I can see it now when the mass confusion hits after BoBo comes out with the S3 Pro for the Quest 3S.
Wonder what the field of view is on this because if it's comparable to the PS VR 2 field of view and Quest 3 field of view I might get it if it's below $400
With a more powerful processor, you'll be able to run the same games and software as the QUEST 3, which is a good thing! Game development won't be limited to the graphical power of the QUEST 2. But this is going to BE the death of QUEST 2.
Who knows? If they continue to make games like they are doing now, they could easily running on Quest 1 too…
Is there any big reasons to want two lens per headset as oppose to one big lens?
It has to do with the fact that each eye sees a slightly different viewpoint so in order to get a better depth perception you need 2 separate lenses.
Unfortunately I had issues with my Q3 like really bad lens glare and fog plus it felt heavier on my face so i had to return it.....honestly don't care about Q3 color MR or the lens really, I just want the new chip set so games run smoother
hopefully the Q3 S will come through, hopefully it also comes out around or near the new batman game release
Do you have a face tracking camera? Cool.
It looks like the quest two shell so I am hoping that I can use my bobovr headgear. And also the battery packs from bobovr as well. Be nice I would be more inclined to buy this headset.
The single screen reminds me of how they made the Nintendo 2Ds
11.25 that spit
LOL Made me watch that several times!
I think that you are underestimating the impact of the IR illuminators o__O. if implemented right, those could bring spacial tracking a lot further.
I would also like to see headsets from LG and the other third parties creating their own versions. Would love to have it as a standalone PC and pay the extra cost. Like extra slots for memory storage . Keyboard mouse etc
I feel like this would be a great option for those who haven't tried Pancake lenses and for kids if a lot cheaper. I think I'm slightly spoiled by the pancake lenses in the Quest 3 to ever go back. I hope people not as familiar with VR don't think Fresnel lenses are the only kind.
The pancake lenses is a huge deal I have the quest Pro and I definitely know what he's talking about. I can't wait to get Quest 3 it's truly worth it. It's hard to go back to regular quest 1 and quest 2 lenses now
Quest 2, but pancake lenses, and maybe the improved speakers and haptics, would make a good Lite model.
So I was waiting until we got more info, like this, about the quest 3 lite instead of buying the actual quest 3 to see which one I should buy because I have a quest 2 already. But with this new info I am sorta disappointed by the quest 3 lite. So I am just going to upgrade to an actual quest 3.
In my opinion those who don't have Quest 3 yet should just start saving up for Quest 4, I'm sure they'll throw a new headset at us next year)
idm the lens change cause imo the q3 display is bad compared to q1. i really miss that oled and sometimes i think the q1 looks better despite being a lower res
Yeah like I will also be upset with how meta killed q1 but I still enjoy using it with pcvr both games and watching movies
I think the price be 299. What is already a surreal price is undoubtedly an excellent price.
And without forgetting that the PSVR2 that does not have an internal processor, uses the old fresnel lenses, the controls have the old rings, has no battery, Wi-Fi transmitter, does not have a colored pass thru, has no sound in the air (you need to put a headset of dubious quality) and needs a PS5, it still costs an absurd 550 dollars. No wonder it was a sales failure.
Psvr2 OLED screen is superior to Quest 3's LCD.
Quest 3 lite with it's LCD will be just as bad as Quest 2. No comparison to PSVR2 really.
If u used an OLED u would know.
Quest 3 doesn't have
.* Eye tracking
* Dynamic Foveated Rendering
* Headset Haptics
* Adaptive triggers
* Advanced Graphics
Quest 3 is going for a phone replacement device not a great gaming device. Hence not proving direct PC access. Hence the PCVR lag and compression issues .
U want a great gaming headset, go with PSVR2. Want a phone replacement wannabe, go with quest
PsVR2 have True AAA VR games. Quest good games can be found in great part on Quest 1 library.
@@ShiYuMeng2 It's funny that even though it has much higher graphics power, the immersion of being in a totally cable-free VR, independent as the QUEST is, really affects the immersion more than I would imagine it does. It's the excellent colorful pass thru of the QUEST 3 and a world of gameplay possibilities.
@@ShiYuMeng2Half the price while also being a native device seems to be its own classification.
the chipset is everything so I would say its more like a quest 3, but with better framerates since the resolution is a bit lower. (unless they underclocked the chipset a bit,.. but then we have better batterylife.. unless they also reduced the size of the battery) IR luminators for depth is probably using some sort of kinect like 3d tracking of the enviroment. the ir luminators makes like a noise pattern over the enviroment that the the cameras can see and calculate 3d depth with.
If the Quest 3 lite has the same chipset and performance of the Quest 3, I will get that. Currently I am on Quest 2 64GB that I bought on release. I bought it for $299. The quest 3 128GB is $675 here, so I am not interested in that one at all lol. The Quest 2 128GB is currently around $420... so If the Quest 3 lite is not around $420, I am not interested in this generation of VR headsets.
They had oculus 2 parts leftover they just redesigned it, renamed it, and resold it as quest light.
Honestly, who would have rather got the 3 lite not have the depth sensor/color pass through for the expense of pancake lenses, I feel that if you want that AR experience that paying the extra bucks is up to you.
I wonder if it has face tracking
I was so excited to get my quest 3 but I just didnt see the night and day difference that so many are talking about here. It still looks blurry.
Having just used a Quest 3, I legitimately don't know wtf you're doing that it looks blurry. It is crystal clear.
That's actually a great idea quest 2 for 99$ I think that would bring a lot of vr holdouts into the fold and we all know once you try it.....
For me to want to recommend it to my friends I need it to be $300.00 or less and I’ll probably need to be able to try one on at a Best Buy or someplace.
I would have rather the same spec of the 2 with pancake lenses. I am waiting for the price of the quest 3 to get more reasonable where I live.
What is with the religious quote at 6:21?
what's with giving af about people having passion for their religion? 🤡
He’s a Christian, and I am as well. He’s spread some scripture, and I love that he does that! But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven. Matthew 10:33
@@Saint_BrandenTf? Lol
@@Whatthevr_official What’s so funny?
@@Saint_Branden i find it hilarious how every openly religious person i see online seemingly has to preach to others. Like i get it, you're Christian. There's nothing wrong with that but there was no need to add some religious quote to the end of your otherwise informative comment.
Put a memory Card on it.
No need for more headsets, drop some games
I used my one plus 7 OLED display with Razer hydra to play half life, was pretty good Experiance. Did like the freedom of the quest 2 but display suckss
250 would be great everyone would buy a a quest 3 lite for that price
Basically a Quest 2 with a Quest 3 ship
I wouldn't want to go back to q2 lenses.
I’ve never been into vr, and I just want to play Batman, so this should help me not spend all my money
Quest 2 for 99 dollars would be really newsworthy, it would bring VR to the masses for sure and it would get a lot of exposure in media.
If the Quest 3 Lite is noticeably lighter than Q3 and Q2 then I will get one. I have both Q3 and Q2 but I am comfort over graphics, so I'll take weight loss at the cost of graphic fidelity.
Never going back to fresnel lenses.
I have the quest to and the quest 3 and the fact that they're going to go back to Pharrell lenses for the quest 3 light I would say don't even bother save your money and get the quest 3 the pancake lenses were the one feature that made all the difference in the world from The Quest 2 to the quest 3 if you don't have that you're wasting your money
I prefer the design of the S over the 3, the 3 just looks weird
I WISH "499" was the price. But guess what, with taxes its 594 for Americans. And in other countries? Count in import tax etc. and its bumped up to 700 DOLLARS. For someone who dont have a huge ability to save money, how the heck are we supposed to afford a headset for 700 dollars? I personally cant wait for the lite version to come.. as im currently running a Oculus Rift S, which i by the way had to buy used, because even the Quest 2 was too expensive for me at the time. And right now i really cant wait for it to come out as my right controller is starting to have bad stickdrift..
This ain’t for any current quest 3 owners.
This is for the people tempted and hopefully priced lower to get them through the door.
Trying to hit the sweet price spot..
The only way it's an upgrade is if it doesn't have the Quest 2's planned obsolescence.
“Lite” consoles are NEVER considered an upgrade.. it’s literally a cheaper version for those that can’t afford the new edition. It’s literally an IPhone SE and I truly don’t know why anyone would assume otherwise.
Great news if this grows the market. Otherwise I'm very happy with my Quest 3 for now.
"Fresnel lenses"
Pass.
Remember this headset is for the newcomers.. the people that never tried VR before. Or the enthusiast on a budget looking for a cheap upgrade from quest 2.
It makes sense to have a cheaper option for bigger adoption. And also easier to phase out the quest 2 by having a similar style headset for sale to replace it.
However. the jump from Quest 3S to Quest 3 is not the biggest jump for an untrained eye. So my guess is that people that buy the QUest 3S will stay in that budget line.
Maybe We'll see the Quest 4 release as two headsets. A budget model and a slightly higher priced model. It has worked for phones for years, so making alternatives within standalone VR makes sense.
I’m guessing the lite / s models are all gonna have the same starting price. Same with the original because I mean if they are going to make the price $700 they should make that a pro model.
But for people with the quest 1 the quest 3s is a bigger upgrade
Hmm 🤔 I don’t know 🤷🏾♂️
Sad that they still won't let us upgrade our memory with sd instead of forcing us to buy a headset with more memory
Corporate greed
Instead of making special games, they should bring Steam VR
Hellooooo??? Mixed reality ?
Yo what? Where have they ever said the q3 lite would be an upgrade?? It's literally called LITE. Meaning not as good. Tf??
I think it could be interesting for who don’t want to spend too much and is interested to Augnented realty. I still have a Quest 2 and I still have no reasons to upgrade. May be they are trying to convince people like me. The only one mistake is that it’s not a cheaper Quest 3 that will change my (our) mind, but content that really worth the upgrade. And now simply there is not. Games sucks in 90% of cases and I feel like I already have best games Quest ecosystem can offer.
It's looking like it's gonna be $200
It’s probably going to cost $349.99 USD to make each headset $150 apart. Q2= $199.99, Q3L= $349.99, Q3= $499.99. This way, if they do another price reduction, they will just drop them all by $50 most likely. A Q2 costing $99.99 brand new at retail is highly unlikely. It’s not that low of a tech lol.
This is literally just Meta using up their leftover parts from the Q2, in a new SKU. Not worth it all if it has older lenses.
Wifi 6e ?
If I remember correctly, the Wifi 6E is part of the snapdragon cpu, but you never know, they might downgrade it in software.
THis is not suposed to be a replacement for the q3 or an upgrade its a replacement for the quest 2
Just drop the price of the quest3 like 150 bucks and let it sell off in volume. Maybe call it a quest 2.5 😂
Where b the heck did q3L come from..sheesh
The lens difference is enough for people to not get this. Once you try those Quest 3 lenses, it is HARD to go back.
Bro people ain’t paying an extra $200-300 for just better lenses and no depth sensor. It’s worthless for people with a quest 3 but if people don’t have a vr they’d get this.
i feel 299 but sadly im also feeling 349
The controller design on the Q3 is crap. They need to redo them.
I honestly don't like the warping on these quest headsets. That's why I didn't buy the Quest 3 and want to wait for Quest 4 to see its improvements or wait for Google and Samsung's VR headset because I'm definitely opting out of Facebook as soon as they come out. The Quest 3 Lite's specs are great for the price, and I like the lenses on Quest 2, so I don't mind the downgrade. The chipset, colour passthrough, and controller is why I'm going to buy the Quest 3 Lite.
Weird title. Never saw any speculation about it being an upgrade 🙃
A regular consumer would be mad to choose this. Its false economy. The lenses are the best part of the Quest 3
If it is $299 I’ll get it immediately.
I still have lots of games to play for the quest 2 so paying $499 for the quest 3 hasn’t been important but at $200 less than a quest 3 none of the issues you brought up matter to me.
The same ipd adjustment as the Quest 2 is criminal.
The Q3 lenses are its best feature
@@toututu2993 then don’t buy it
@@booshting3520 the fact that it plays games virtual reality games is it’s best feature.
Why would it be an upgrade? It's literally called "lite"...
It's not an upgrade, it's literally called the lite, like as with Switch lite, it's a cheaper device designed for kids and to expand the user base.
bruh i thought this is better than quest 3 nvm im good with my quest 3
Why would it be an upgrade? Lower quality components... No pancake lenses... Probably less storage... Ya, no... Unless the price is right.
I think the quest 3 price is going up, lesson learned from Apple.
I think is made for upgrade the quest 2 owners
Pancake lenses make Quest 3 worth spending the extra money. If the Quest 3S is $300 or less though it might be worth it for the controllers alone.
I never liked quest 3 lenses, I always go back to quest 2 as it gives me headache. So for people like me it's a better option than quest 3.
If it's 350 - 400 top i'm willing to buy it, i'm not paying 550 bucks for something that, at the end of the day, is a gimmick
this one only $200 i saw it
3 positioned ipd adjustment like the Quest 2 shouldn't be a thing after Quest 2. It is god aweful
Just call it a Pico 4.
It's the quest 3 and quest 3 should of been quest 4.
