  • Emma is a teenager from Wilmington, North Carolina treated at the Hey Clinic for Scoliosis and Spine Care in Raleigh, NC with a Rigo-Cheneau brace and Schroth physical therapy. She has been able to hold, and in fact slightly improve her scoliosis with this winning combination. Here is her story recently taken at Hey Clinic's new facility in North Raleigh, which also features the EOS imaging low radiation high resolution 3D X-Ray machine from France.
Here is Emma's story : "I was rather nervous to get this brace for many reasons: I had never worn a brace to school before, and I was nervous as to what people’s reaction would be, and I was one of the first to ever get this kind of brace. It was really comforting knowing that Dr. Hey was willing to come be there with me. Not very many people would be willing to do that!
The brace is so much more comfortable than my other brace! It is thinner, and there are more air/scratching holes, which take away all of the hassle that I was initially expecting.
I have been wearing it for eight months so far, about 21 hours a day. Now that it’s getting warmer, I have been cleared to slowly wean myself off of wearing it during the day.
Dr. Hey and his team have been there through everything. They understand how I feel about certain things, and are able to apply that into their work. They have helped us, and have checked in with us both during appointments, and outside of appointments, making sure no one is left with questions or confusion. Everyone in the office knows your name, and is willing to strike up a conversation. It sounds cliché, but it really is a family there!"
