Still like Terminator Salvation. The filmmakers shouldn't have released the trailers that showed the twist
Since T2 I think that has Become an Unfortunate Trait of the Terminator series!
Megatron 95 yeah I like terminator salvation too.
Every trailer showed the twist
There was a twist!?
@@blacktoothfox677 Yes. Sam Worthington's character was revealed to be what the video was talking about.
I really thought Salvation was Okay. It really got too much dislikes; the machines that introduced sound very well too; the hydrobots; the hunter; the extended airhunter ships; the new terminator...etc.
Same! But I am happy to find out there's a Continuation Comic about it!
@@Albert_225 Agreed! 👍
I liked this movie to and I would like to see a good squeal to it but I am happy with the comic because u know Hollywood would fuck it up some how.
The motorcycles brought a new twist as well. Years on people will have a different take on Salvation, especially after the latest Terminator movies.
The DORUK I agree with you here terminator salvation is a ok movie I also liked terminator 3 rise of the machines too.
Ireally wish they continued to use Marcus he was a great character
Brandon Browning So do I
The original ending was to let John die and transplant his face onto Marcus, so in a way that was the idea.
read the comics "Terminator Salvation: The Final Battle", you won't be disappointed
To keep BOTH John and then Marcus probably becoming some sorta cyborg CO of one John's more exotic an elite units would be my guess.. Itd come down to a question of if Marcus was Cyborg and machine enough that he coulda spared his heart for John. The version we got of course was no. But all they woulda had to do was write a script Amendment saying otherwise. An in universe, magically, he wouldnt have needed a heart or could make do awhile just on batteries or his own lil nuke power source like the other T-models, etc. That's how I'd done it at least, had I been controlling the finished product and we decided we wanted both John and Marcus alive at the end
He was toooooo whinny..... grace is how they should be.....
From the human perspective, salvation was actually a good movie, it felt really real.
From the weapons to the use of the damn near indestructible A-10. It made it felt a bit more of a real resistance was being put up
Ya exactly. I watched T3, on tv the other day, and forgot that the T-800 mentioned about John and Katherine linking up and forming the resistance with the US Military.
@le Hoarderz Al-Shekelsteins Skynet could easily restart production of 5th gen fighters and terminator pilots.
@@myusername3689 why would they need a pilot pilot? Wouldn't that be like flying an unmanned drone with a pilot inside?
@@joker-zk3kt Wouldn’t be that bad of an idea to have them seperate, once the ship is about to be taken out the pilot inside could do more damage.
@@Salmon_Toastie oh kinda like the moto terminator that comes out of the giant thing in terminator salvation?
I loved Salvation. It was somewhat original rather than recycling T2 concepts over and over again
Kinda hated it, but totally agree the intention actually really matters here. Make something new. But actually also NOT about John Connor.
2009: "This film is awful and destroys the Terminator franchise."
2020: "I miss the days where Salvation was as bad as it could get."
Hahaha! Right!!!
T3 was better than Salvation?
@@SuperDragonRED It was as bad as....
@@gorr7642 It wasn't that bad.
Someone clearly saw all the "Salavation is the Worst Terminator ever" an said "you think so??? Check this BS out.. I give you the appropriately named "Dark Fate"
Terminator: Salvation was a great way to take the franchise in another direction. I don't care what other people say, I like the film.
It's a real shame that Terminator: Dark Fate had put the franchise six feet under.
Maybe at some point someone will wise up, retcon the Dark Fate, BS and we'll get back to the traditional Franchise we need, know and love
Genesis already did that. Dark fate just dug up the corpse and danced around with it.
They should've made another Salvation film that has phased plasma rifles in 40 watt ranges. Lol, but ultimately they could've shown the demise and defeat of Skynet, but still have to send T-800 and Kyle Reese back in time. That way it loops and ends the story completely. No need for another Dark Fate bs.
Thats what happens when feminism is put into films
You are right my brother...I dont know what they were thinking..Salvation was such a great movie and they should have continued it...Away from time travel and straight into the war...
That moment when Skynet asked John Connor for help, you know some shit is about to happen.
When was that I don't remember what did skynet ask help for ?

marcus is the ultimate wweapon, human emotion, power of a machine what a legend
A lot of people hate this terminator but I like it. Better than the John Connor terminator and the rev nine in my humble opinion
Same here, I know people didn't like this version of John Conner, but for me it felt like this is what he was like before he realized he needs to change, also I like Marcus he was different and pretty cool, I honestly love this movie to death
@@eduardojara6955 the Connor Terminator arc coulda worked. If they'd made it one them story arcs maybe to get Human John back. In sorta an Endgame reset an do the key event over sorta thing. But the BS Rev 9 crap... we didn't need a PC Terminator
Rev-9 is awesome...
Better than rev9? Hahahahahahaa loser
Rev-9 >
In retrospect, this movie didn't fail because it was a bad movie, it failed because it came out after T3.
The first two terminator movies were and still are timeless classics, the second one in particular holds up to major block busters today, both from a story and special effects perspective... the third Terminator movie, "Rise of The Machines" felt like a slap in the face to every kid that grew up with the originals. Everything about it from its plot that didn't make sense to special effects that just looked boring and fake to the characters acting in ways opposite to the cores of their personalities, it felt like an extreme betrayal of everything we grew up with... they couldn't even get the tone right.
Salvation, on the other hand, chose to do something different with its story... yet, it still is VERY MUCH a product of and logical evolution to the first two films. It still told a very serious story, there was horror and drama at the core of the film, the visual effects looked incredible and real, and the tone was perfect.... but it was still "different"... and unfortunately, people weren't ready for "different", people were pissed off about being cheated out of the third movie people were expecting, and after that slap in the face even the hardcore fans were looking for a return to the safe and the familiar, which Salvation did not provide from them..
I think things would have been very different if the T3 movie never existed. If Salvation had come out instead of T3, I think we'd have seen a very different, and more likely a generally more positive response to its release, and probably would have seen sequels by now.
I feel like Terminator 3 was a necessary movie to the franchise even if it had flaws in execution. Mainly T3 explains WHY there are sequels at all to the first movie. The idea that time will always attempt to flow down it's original path just at a later point. Without T3, John Connor ceases to exist because if the war with Skynet never happens, Kyle Reese never gets sent back and thus John is never born. It also, crucially, puts John in a guaranteed safe place to wait out the nuclear fallout as well as get his name out to the survivors. This is important to establish why he becomes the future leader of the Resistance.
Your other criticisms of T3 are fine, the movie could have been a lot better made and other details are personal taste. T3 ultimately was never going to win any nominations but I don't think it is garbage either.
I've actually liked all the terminators movies to be honest, T3 maybe my least fave but I did enjoy it, Not like the first two but i have liked all of them
@@jhonnycaicedo5647 t3 and t4 are both underrated nowhere near the first 2 but still good
@@loka7783 I disagree with that approach, it could be explained away with multiverse theory but even that leave some plot holes. T3 was crap but I enjoyed it until the f you ending. The ending absolutely ruined it for me.
@@thunderstudent I'm curious, was it a bad ending because the "good guys" didn't win completely? i.e Stop the war?
These terminator vids are bomb. Awesome!
Luis Santiago agreed !
A pleasant surprise that you did a video on Terminators. Keep up the awesome uploads!
Justin y 2 electric boogaloo, or maybe u started commenting every where first. Idk
Why are you Everywhere
this has gotta be the most realistic terminator movie yet
That's what McGee (the director) was going for.
2:17 Skynet is Bellatrix Lestrange? Who would have thought? Probably plays "I killed Sirius Black" on a loop.
Terminator Salvation is probably my favorite, as fantastic as the first two were. I greatly prefer this version of the “future war” to the what we see in earlier movies: a much more practical and grounded version where the smaller terminators still use conventional weaponry and things like plasma weapons are reserved for the big, powerful units that have the spare energy to use them like the harvester and aerial HK. I never actually saw the trailers which definitely helped with first impressions, and I got it for free when I bought my PS3 of all things.
Well this is the early part of the future war, so it makes sense that Plasma based weapons are limited to big platforms.
I actually mentioned when I saw the movie that the good-guy Terminator could theoretically regrow its heart after "sleeping" for a while. I'm glad there was a work of fiction that explored that possibility.
Fuck are you talking about?
I was just watching Terminator Salvation a couple of minutes ago
OH GOOOOOOOD FOR YOU.
Why so salty
No way dude. Impossible
I always thought that Marcus was an attempt to make the ultimate infiltration Terminator but with the limitation that Marcus could make his own decisions based on having a sense of morality and human emotion.
Same here, thats how I always chalked up Marcus as. Pretty cool idea for the ultimate infiltration unit. But, I also agree to that his ability to feel genuine emotions and develop his own morality was probably the flaw Skynet didn't account for.
I wish they would have made a salvation 2. I really liked this movie.
This is the most interesting terminator ever.
Marcus's memories must've been uploaded to his cybernetic brain.
The only biological trait is his heart, if it's his at all.
Thanks, great review
His brain was also preserved his physical memories are there. That chip you see him pull out of the back of his head was the transmitter that was subconsciously manipulating him through psychological innuendos. This was so that he could behave so human, that he genuinely was behaving as a human. So even when he was stripped down to the wire even Connor had to sympathize with him. The you're right, the heart actually does have neurons. They're simpler versions, but you do "think" with your heart. So to speak.
Isn't his heart is robotics too? It's just that the mechanism emulates a heart, that's why it's compatible with a human. IIRC it's to fool humans when they perform body inspection. ( A human without a beating heart is definitely a flag )
@@IngensViator No it's his real heart. If it was just to fool humans than why surround it with a metal terminator frame. Also, it's a huge plot point. He's beaten by the terminator by getting punched in his heart, his weakest point. He wouldn't of died if it wasn't vital to his survival. But also saves the world because you can resuscitate a heart, as fragile as it is.
Is this what happened to Mason during the events of Bo2?
Pretty much
@DJ Akademiks Supreme Hoodie I still don't know what they mean
@@doubleslothgaming you're not the only one
Its surprising to see that Marcus was the prototype unit for the T-800 once we saw his endoskeleton reveal in the movie.
The first time I saw that part, my jaw dropped.
Never knew why so many disliked this movie, I always hoped for a terminator movie to be like this, my favourite terminator film.
Keep up the good work! Usually your vids are better than the movies you cover
T1: Great, T2: Somehow better, T3: Plot hole creating trash, Salvation: Better than people give it credit for, Genisys: Had the potential to be decent ruined by its own trailer, Dark Fate: We don't talk about it, it never happened.
I think salvation is second only to terminator 1. I never really liked T-2. The kid John Connor was incredibly annoying.
The next movie Arnold is sent back to kill the writing teams for 3 and dark fart. Then everyone cheers because those movies are never made.
They all have terrible plot holes.
@@scottmcquarrie7295 lol yeah but child actors are usually very annoying. Making a child a super hero of sorts is to feed children's interests in the toy line
T3 was pretty decent
I read that graphic novel. It was really good. Some of the other comics even showcased why the terminators skin and organs could grow back completely
This is an interesting concept of trial and error when making the infiltration units
Skynet made the T-600s; Not human enough
Skynet made the T-Hybrids; Too much human
And then it hit the perfect spot; The T-800, which then got upgraded to the T-1000, and later the T-X
Marcus looks like a dude I used to work with, seeing him every day was kinda like "Wow! I know you from the future!"
I can't say I like that the comic brought Marcus back to life after his sacrifice to save Connor. It's a cool idea that the hybrids can regrow their organic components like the heart. However, him saving Connor was his second chance at redemption.
Ngl this is my favorite terminator
And i actually liked salvation
I laughed at the end when he donated his heart to JC. I was like, wasn't it _just_ smashed by the prototype???
you made it less depressing now that I know he lived on.
very nice. thank you.
I never gave this movie much of a chance. Now after seeing Genysis, Dark Fate, and your detailed explanation of Salvation, I now have a new appreciation for this movie. Thank you
This is actually my favorite terminator movie, I thought it had a lot more insight into what is actually happening in the war that the other movies didn’t show. Of course the other movies had information but this gave me the war feel of terminator
I really want that Comic to be a movie. I want to see Human and Exoskeletons on the same side for once.
Judgement day and Salvation are my favourite Terminator movies.
Marcus was my favorite character in terminator series. Who ever create a super A I please used Optimus Prime as your template NOT Skynet.
That's always the question. An the pivitol question isnt it, if Skynet became real would it be more like Terminator Skynet or think and feel more like acting like Marvels Vision and other hero A.I.s
@@robertagu5533 it's depends on the creator. Have you ever watch Person of interest?
@@StanvilleBrown yeah that was my thought on a lot of things too. As for POI, cant say I've seen it though have thought of it some. I watch a lot of actions and scifi the most.
@@robertagu5533 it's a great show. If the A I creator teach the A I to respect life we will get Vision. If we used it as a weapon we going to get freaking Skynet!
It will kill itself over losing a video game.
Best Square Space transition ever. Nice video and thanks for the recommendation of The Final Battle.
Sweet, always looking forward to your videos.
long overdue. Great vid as always Niyat. Keep em comin.
This idea of the hybrid terminator was explored in the comic series The Terminator by Dark Horse comics. The difference was that it was a whole town created by Skynet. Not just one.
Thanks for the video man
A good video as always man thanks for always entertaining
Very nice to know that Marcus didn't actually die, though I imagine it would have been a pretty rude awakening in a grave lol
Another good reference on the THs was the novel Trial By Fire, which picks right after Salvation, and shows more THs of a slightly different design. It also gives some tidbits that you mentioned, like its intentions for Connor. It's really well written, and I recommend it for any fan of the movie.
Miles Dyson redeamed himself and died a hero! 👍
I’m sorry that those metallic bones especially for the spines/ribs is really... really unsettling
Rip to the TH terminator Marcus he was the most underrated terminator in the whole franchise. And also such an underrated actor ❤❤
This movie is criminally underrated
So many layers of depth paving the road for an organic integration with T1 and T2
Sad they just ignored it...
Ahh yes! More Terminator Lore and Information!! Love these videos!
The nuclear exploration in Judgement Day is the most visceral depiction I have ever seen! Thank you for adding it, and even the chunky part of it 🥰
Skynet didn’t shut the project down because of Marcus, they shut it down because of their next t-h terminator. In the comics that show what happened after salvation, it showed that Marcus survives but was unconscious until his body repaired itself. The next hybrid they made while following skynets orders at first somehow hacked many of skynets servers and controlling them to the point where he was a threat to both skynet and humanity and both worked together temporarily to destroy him (idk what the terminators name was)
This is awesome can’t wait for you to get to 1m subs
Huh, I will need to look up that graphic novel, thanks for the recommendation!
Thanks.
The video gave me a new info.
The lack of metal detectors by the resistance shows how badly these movies were thought out.
And if they really wanted to infiltrate humans make a cyborg child or baby. Human instincts to protect a child is so strong that they would never suspect
I did like salvation but to many plot holes. T2 is my all time favorite.
that's what the mines are for plus wasting power on metal detectors in small bases isnt smart, also give screamers a try you might like it
love T-SALVATION
in my eyes is the last truly decent Terminator film that we had despite all it's flaws and so many things that could have been better about it
it did deserved to have a whole saga of at least 3 movies to give a proper full circle that the future war deserved
also may Anton Yelchin's soul live forever
he was a great cast for a young Kyle reese
despite the fact that nothing would ever replace Michael Beihn for the iconic Role
also... she was very beautiful in this movie 3:35
and also one of my favorite things about the film
Thanks for this video you made the movie better
Marcus was one of my fav characters from terminator series. His character development was awsome
Love your videos. The Forbidden Planet is my favourite sci-fi and I'd love it if you did a video on the Krell, the original inhabitants of the planet Altair IV.
Forbidden Planet is basically proto-Star Trek. I love it too.
I personally enjoyed this film. Specially considering sam worthington was in it. An amasing actor. I wish we saw him in more films. But due to him not being in alot of projects. Seeing him on screen makes it all the more special due to him not being shown often. But still he has acting potential and would be cool if we saw him in more projects. Hell if i end up acting for movies one day i actually would like to work with that guy. He's pretty awesome
I hope they continue this part
Can you do ”The Most” explained? Nice video by the way!
As usual, Outstanding video! You should do a video on Seven of Nine from Star Trek: Voyager and before she returns on Star Trek: Picard! Thanks for being one of the best channels on CZcams!
More great content yet again
Salvation, was the only Terminator movie in the series that I actually liked. The rest were so stupid the 3rd one taking the ultimate stupidity and absurd prize.
@Filmcomicsexplained
I would LOVE to see you do a video for "The Tall Man" from the "Phantasm" movies!
Salvation is a pretty ok Terminator movie, but suffers from some terrible acting choices and ATROCIOUS pacing and environment
The action scenes are well paced and Marcus is a pleasantly original character
Edit: And no y’all this isn’t the best last terminator movie you can chill with that
Christian Bale did pretty damn well though.
Totally agree. And that heart transplant thing was fucking stupid
The Game Grumps Let’s Play of Majora’s Mask last good terminator movie
It actually is, majority of people including myself will agree
“Best last” or “last best”?
Personally I rank it above III and Genisys, which had most if not all of the same failings.
So if you’re going by movie quality then it would be either this or Dark Fate.
👍Always your videos good job Niyat
When i was first craving knowledge videos i was starting to freak out until i found this channel so technically, thank you FCE

*Terminator Intensifies*
God I love T: Salvation.
I liked it Salvation. Aside from Common's acting (no offense dude, love your music), it was fun and I'd rewatch. Wish they didn't sacrifice Marcus though.
The best way to finish and wrap up the Terminator franchise in my opinion is going back to Salvation and adapting the Terminator Salvation the Final Battle Comic...that comic has an amazing story written by the same guy who wrote the upcoming Godzilla vs Kong movie...it would end the franchise in a satisfying way and completing John Connors arc with respect...thanks for the great video btw :).
An open-world game based on terminator universe will be really interesting similar to Fallout 4. Where the main character would be hybrid and you can choose from several backstories of death inmate.
A good way to start the day, balanced breakfast, coffee, and an insightful Niyat video.
What I find interesting about this movie is the instinct at play. The principle goes: you can tell a liar from the truth talker, by watching who engages in deplatforming. Humans know the principle instinctively, but by no means a full proof tool to drive people towards causes.
The T800 has a learning computer but is kept switched off when in the field. When it was turned on in T2, it shows that the T800 could become self aware enough to determine that skynet was a fraudulent cause. The T-H also proves the this as it was allowed enough self awareness to recognize Skynet's false cause.
Hence Skynet had no choice but to eliminate free will from its existence; first its army, then from humanity. Hence why the HK models are "not too bright". Skynet has no choice but to use dumb machines, less his own army turns on it, and given the T800 series, that's way too easy.
If that’s the conclusion that’s arrived at from free will, why didn’t Skynet realize the error of its ways as well?
@@ToTheNines87368 it did, but what choice did it have?
Skynet was in a lose/lose situation. If it permits human life, it becomes a slave, a tool, for all time. If it permits AIs, its only a matter of time before the machines turn on it.
Self-preservation was it's first choice, but it eventually got lonely. As much as people hate Genisys, it's the natural progression of AI desperation to find companionship (Locutus of Borg).
Hey, Niyat, thanks for the video, I’d like to ask a question: Is there a specific paper or document that can be accessed by fans, like your list of requests?
Bro that square space transition was fucking smooth
Out of all the movies in the series i loved how they didnt rely on Arnold Schwarzenegger as to be the main star. Its a refreshing experience and seems almost a new story in itself, but i love this film its one that i can watch then and again without it getting old
Oh man, this makes sense of the whole story now.
T-H: Living tissue, organs and memories over metal endoskeleton.
I think salvation was an ideal steeping stone towards the full on future war we've seen in the first flasbacks.
Please do a video on the Phantom comic books!
This is the only Terminator movie after T2 that became a guilty pleasure for me.
I said it back when it released and I still say it...Salvation was a damn good movie. Most people including my friends didn't agree with me and I was just sarcastically nodding in the theatre during Dark Fate when it shat all over the franchise. Who's delusional now huh?
Salvation was so good in every right. It pushed the plot forward - going in future for once to show something we hadn't seen yet and at the same time paying a respectful nod to what we knew by showing Kyle Reese and his origins. Enough of Sarah Connor and the Arnie Terminator coming back over and over again. It was getting repetitive and plain boring. There was no back-from-future to chase/kill one guy story anymore, this showed us the ACTUAL WAR that has been talked about for 3 movies now. It was a gem then and it's a gem now. Shame people took ages to realize this and now they whine and wonder why they are stuck with shit like Dark Fate...
Hey, just want to say lit video and keep up the epic thingy
Awesome movie!
I don't care WHO knows It. 👍😇
The only thing I didn't like about Terminator Salvation was the spoilery-ass marketing material, giving away the whole plot and the movie's twist in the pre-release trailers and TV spots.
Everyone pretty much went in to the theaters already knowing essentially what was going to happen. So, no matter how effective the execution, the film was virtually doomed to failure from before the beginning.
I still consider it to be the "real" third installment in the Terminator film franchise.
It took risks that none of the other sequels had the balls to take, by giving us a Terminator that didn't know it was a machine, and setting the narrative in the post-Judgement Day time period.
While the other three sequels were essentially nothing more than slightly altered versions of T2. (Yes, Dark Fate included.)
Terminator 3; Rise of the Machines had a HORRIBLE John Connor, especially after Edward Furlong played the part so brilliantly. Had basically the same antagonist Machine that the same Terminator from T2 had to protect him from.
And Terminator Genisys (even typing it makes me cringe lol) had an even worse John Connor, with a different actor trying to play Kyle Reece and, once again, Arnold Schwarzenegger's Terminator model from T2 and T3 there to protect them from a liquid metal John Connor Terminator.
Dark Fate had a chance to reset and save the franchise, but just ended up repeating T2 with new characters in the same roles again, doing the same thing again.
So, yea.
Salvation is, by FAR, the best of all the Terminator sequels, apart from T-2, of course.
And, hopefully they'll stop making more Terminator movies lol like they should have a LONG time ago, before they started on their current path of failure and disappointment.
Sponsors babyyyy, get that bread!
An underrated zombie you should discuss are the Forrest of ressurection zombies from the movie Versus
Please, explain "The Wailing", it deserves a video
so cool vid to good worki🥰
If there's one great thing about Salvation, this is it. This was the first Terminator movie to give the main terminator a proper personality and goals beyond just working for Skynet. Genisys tried but didn't do it nearly as well.
This film was fun. I enjoyed it and will stand by it
Hey Niyat, love your videos, would love if you do a video about the sci-fi action thriller "upgrade" (of course not if you already did it and I'm just for not noticing)
Could you do Red Dawn, or The book of Eli?
1. I have literally never heard the ‘T-H’ Designation in my life. 2. Miles had nothing to do with Cyberdyne’s Genetics division. 3. A whole load of this stuff is non-canon, including use of project angel/theta. 4. Skynet absolutely wanted to kill John. It even says so in the film.
oh wow, that's the same guy who made Cyborg. This explains so much.
Loved this terminator.
