  • Taking a deeper look at what this 2023 Porsche Cayman S provides for the 6-figure price tag. Is it worth the money even in this crazy market? Or are there better options?

I have a Cayman S and a 911 Turbo S and I would never part with either for anything less than a McLaren with a warranty. I actually LOVE driving the Cayman just as much my 911 because it’s so different and offers a different kind of engagement. The cayman being manual is a big part of that but not the only part. Manual, lighter, mid engined, rear wheel drive and howling flat 6 versus heavier rear engine car with WAY more power and torque and the fastest, smoothest shifting dual clutch in existence. The turbo s hides its weight absolutely brilliantly. You would swear it’s only slightly heavier than the cayman if you did not know better. I respect BMW owners but no way I’m giving up these for any BMW.

3,9 sec from 0-60 "not very fast". lol. I own the cayman s and you CAN connect via bluetooth and play music. It is absolutely possible. CarPlay only works with cable. The thing with the cayman is, it is a track tool. Although it is not sold as a track tool. But some even prefer it over the 911 because of the balance and weight.

The focus should be on the mid engine handling. The 718's are not intended to be dragsters, even with the RS. Frivolous options are not needed.

Dude haha! This is MY car. I bought it from Fields Porsche last month and am loving it. PS- it does have wireless Bluetooth audio (and I've also added a wireless CarPlay usb dongle to the center armrest storage area). I've owned an F82 M4 and a Jag F-Type R in the past, and I feel this one is comparable in power but feels lighter on its feet with the mid-engine layout and low weight. The M4 was a 6spd manual and the Jag an automatic with AWD, so very different experiences all around. And all great cars!

You’re buying into the 911 hype way too much. Have you ever driven them back to back? I’ve owned 718 Spyder and then 991.2 carrera 4s w/ x51 power kit. While I loved the 911 as a daily. The 718 Spyder and cayman/boxster in general is the superior platform and significantly more nimble than the 911. The weight transfer is immediately noticeable in the 911. On a tight course, the cayman is what you want.
Having sold both cars within the past year, the car I always think about is the 718 Spyder. Not the 911.

People keep saying how much better the mid engine platform is, but if that were so why is the 911 the car that Porsche races? Don’t see the Cayman in the 24 Hour Lemans?

wait til you find out the unrestricted race series porsche moves their engines to mid configuration on the 911 chassis.
wait til you find out porsche has a model hierarchy with the 911 on top and wont allow other models to beat it.

Great video. Can get a slightly used 2018 - 2020 Cayman S for half the price and it's essentially the same car. I can't understand buying new, even if I had the money to do so.

You're high if you think you can get a slightly used Cayman S for $55k. Try $70k to $80k for 2018-2020 with low, low miles.

@@arr0gant1 The market is flooded with not only 2018-2020’s for 50-60k, but also newer. The depreciation on 718’s is absolutely horrendous. You can find 2014-2015 Cayman’s selling for more than some 718’s. Anyone who thinks they’re going to buy a newer Porsche with the flat 4, and sell it later with only a 30k loss is higher than 🦒🐱. I love the 718, but unfortunately many Porsche purest do not which is why the resale value is so awful. Nobody wants to buy a car and lose 50% of its value. Don’t believe me go to Carvana, Autotrader, Cargurus, etc. Good luck to anyone selling their used 718 who thinks they’re going to get 80k for it. The only way I can see it happening is if it’s a 2023-2024 with very low miles, and loaded with options.
