Kwikset SmartKey Troubleshooting: How to Fix Key Cylinder that Only Turns One Direction

Does your cylinder only turn in one direction? Before calling a locksmith, follow these simple DIY instructions on how to fix your key cylinder.
1) Prepare Door :13
-- Set deadbolt to locked position
-- If you have a knob or lever, make sure it is in the lock position
-- Ensure your door cannot close on its own (use door stop if you have one) or that you have another way to enter your home.
2) Insert Key :50
-- FULLY insert the key that operated the lock, then rotate 90 degrees (note that instructions are the same regardless of cylinder orientation)
3) Insert SmartKey tool fully and firmly into the SmartKey hole 1:08
-- You may feel the tool click inside the lock which is normal
-- Remove SmartKey tool
4) Remove and Reinsert key 1:23
-- Make sure that the key is FULLY inserted
-- The edge of the key touched the indent on the cylinder surface
-- Without PUSHING or PULLING the key, rotate it 180 degrees counter-clockwise
-- Then rotate the key 180 degrees clockwise, then pull the key to make sure it will NOT come out in this position
4) Remove and Reinsert key 1:23
-- Make sure that the key is FULLY inserted
-- The edge of the key touched the indent on the cylinder surface
-- If you are unable to remove the key, reinsert the SmartKey tool making sure it fully enters the hole
-- Without PUSHING or PULLING the key, rotate it 180 degrees (in the opposite direction from which you started)
-- Then rotate the key back 180 degrees, then pull the key to make sure it will NOT come out in this position

Absolutely the worst lock !!!!! Beware !!! We installed it and it stopped working a week after the use. we had to drive 8 hours to update the software, there is no 24/7 hour support. The customer service only available from 10 to 4 and no available during weekends. We were on the phone for two hours trying to get in touch with someone. when we finally did, they told us they can do absolutely nothing, unless we are right next to the lock!!! UNACCEPTABLE AND ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE!
