I've just listened to Heifetz, Pjatigorsky and Rubinstein and I felt that this is the beauty of beauty and then I listen to Oistrakh, Knushevitsky and Oborin and this is also the beauty of beauty. What a rarity it is to have 3 musicians of this caliber playing the entire Finale without cuts. That "musicians" today play this piece with the cuts removes the very purpose. At the end of this marathon each musician should exhausted, both physically and emotionally.
