- This is an easy way to learn the hockey stop. Try this drill stationary and then with some speed. Make sure you use both feet, inside edge of the leading foot, and outside edge of the trailing foot. For more lessons and courses check out The Pond
Been struggling to stop. Made my own rink in my backyard to finally learn. Going to use this drill. Thanks Jeremy.
Guaranteed it will help! I just used this drill with my 6 year old and my 40 year old neighbour and they can now both do a two foot stop! Let me know how it goes
Thank you so much Jeremy! I'm going to try this tomorrow!
@@CoachJeremy thanks for the help
I have to test that tomorrow 🏒
Im going to try this tonight!
Not only good tips and tricks but you’re actually such a nice dude in general. Love having players like you in shinny games because it’s all for the fun times and memories not crazy competitive. Cheers mate, keep doing what you’re doing.
the most important thing for me to learn it, was understanding that i have to have the weight on the front of the blades, and when you bend your knees you automatically put weight to the front of the skates
Finally got to try this out on the ice in London today. Before I was turning sharp and the edges would just dig in, with this drill they're now breaking away and I'm starting to slide properly. Amazing. Best bit of hockey stop information on youtube. Can't thank you enough Jeremy. :)
Thanks man, I haven’t really been able to find a good video to show me, I’ll try that the next time I hit the rink
I’ve been trying to up my game stopping on my weak side for about a month now. This is genuinely the best tip I’ve seen in ALL the internet. Your CZcams channel rocks too. Thanks Jeremy, you’re constantly helping me up my game. UK 🇬🇧🏴
Thanks Jeremy.
Last year we have a little rink here to train our skills.
Greetz from Germany
I play hockey and ive gotten good on one side. But the other side... Is not as good so this will help!! Thanks
This was actually super helpful... need more of this really detailes beginner stuff! Would like to see me on outside edge... ive been trying for months but little improvement
This seems like a great advice that I haven't seen anywhere else that teaches hockey stop❤
The best advice I have seen/heard since I started to play!👍👍👍👌👌👌✌️✌️✌️
I’m a field hockey player yet I still watch your videos, I love your videos. Hi from Vancouver
This actually helped me a lot. I’ve understood for a while how to shave ice with the inside edges but not how to pivot both feet at the same time. Solid tip. I can stop at slower speeds to my dominant side now.
Love the training videos they really help teach skating when I haven't done it in 10 years
This is great. Thank you sir
Thank you so much!! Kept spinning when I tried this
Thank you sir for the advice
Thanks! I'll try that the next time I go to the rink.
I have been haveing a hard time learning how to stop no matter how many videos i watch so hopefully this will help. Thanks Jeremy
This helped me learn to stop thank u ☺️
Tysm trying really hard to make the team next year as a goalie so this will really help
Trying this today! Thanks
thanks, this helped me out rly much since ive been struggling on this so much
Thanks for this. i keep reading the stop is just like stopping with skis but feels like im turning with skates. will try your technique. thanks again
I have struggled for years in my brain to figure this out and you've finally made it click for me.
Thank you so much! I finally figured it out, just need to get it consistently now!
i'll have to try this.
I have learned how to hockey stop in 10 seconds thanks 😂
Tried it today. Harder than it looks from stationary. Good drill.
Best explanation I’ve seen.
Thanks
Wow. I don't want to jinx myself but putting weight on my toes is making all the difference. I'm at the Leduc rec center ice right now , using the free WiFi
This is the only video that helped me do the stop
Wish this came out a couple days ago. Just went to an open skate. And trying new things to learn a bit.
same here. i had a lot of fun picking up speed in the corners with cross-overs.
Thanks this helped a lot
Thx you inspired me to do hockey keep it up
Thx 4 this vid!
thanks coach
Thanks Coach.
I like the jersey
Kind of made for a cool dance move too 😊
THANK U! My friends that play hockey have been trying to help me but they just can’t. This is such a good tip though! Love ur vids!!
Thank you so much man
Love the jersey. Where can I get my hands on one?
I cant even aford to play but i still watch just cause its interesting
Yeah my left stops been a little messy. Trying to fix that
I will try this today thank you. The bad part is I am stuck using rental skates until I can get my own so it feels different everytime I'm on the ice. It annoying and I wish they would sharpen the rental skates because it ruins the experience for others. I've seen people get injured on their first day because the skates were in bad condition. Everytime I bring someone with me to show them how to skate I get very picky about which skates for them to use and it annoys the employees but I would rather annoy them then seeing my friend get hurt.
I feel like you could make some kind of foot dance to help teach the hockey stop. Turn left, turn right, stop now.
spin around, two lefts this time
I have never been able to stop in icehockey but i have to test this one
So wish u came to UK to teach me somethings
nice pants bro
👑
Hey Jeremy, do you try to keep your skates close together when stoping?
and one questionwill i be able to spray ice into the air with this drill at a higer speed?
Could you Recommend something for off ice? I have tendonitis in my knee so I can't currently play. so I could like to do something off ice
I get scared that im just gonna stop dead and go face first, do you always slide or is there an angle you have to hit it on with the blades?
Do you live in barrie or Orillia
Is there some similar/ adequate move to help me to learn stopping on my outside edge? Strange enough that I can stop well on the inside edge and also on both feet, but I have absolutely no feel for stopping on the outside edge...
How about figure skates? Who can you stop in those?
Never had a problem with the right foot, but still can't do it on the left.
How much harder is it to learn to use those skates vs figure skating skates?
It’s been three years so how did the custom true skates hold up?
How do you stay stable with your ankles that loose?
I don’t tie the top laces as well!!
would it work on goalie skates?
Can I do that on inline skates
Choose the size of hockey skates?
CCM as3pro?
Why has one side always been harder than another. I always felt that I couldn’t find the outside and inside edge of my left foot no matter what. Even snow plowing backwards
I thought you're skates had to be very tight round you're ankles how do you do this with loose skates like that
Im weird.. I can step over my own feet while cornering to the left.. to the right it feels awkward and I can’t do it quickly.. stopping i can do it quickly with my right feet pushing first.. if i try it in mirror I’ll do a triple backflip teeth through my lip😂 I’m right footed
I’m sorry but is that a Tower of terror hockey Jersey?
Always turning 😅 only thing I dont know is hockey stop 😢
What's the helmet model you're wearing?
I just push my legs out to stop. No turning skates or anything.
Where can I get that jersey?
Vid soon?
Ya until you catch an edge and break your ankle in half
First
I HAVE FOUND THE SERBIAN DANCING LADY AS A DISGUISE
Just go too fast and hit it back the other direction. 😂
Dude tie your skates
Bros skates r 3 sizes to big 💀

Thanks
