Your video is a great reminder of the value of patience and perseverance. It takes a lot of time and effort to grow and harvest melons and oranges, but the end result is so worth it. And the fact that you're able to make a living by selling them at the market is even more impressive. Keep up the great work! And it's an honor to have you visit our channel, we can discuss more about our experiences in harvesting and building farms.

awesome brings back a lot of memories. when i left school in 1987 i worked on a farm where we had a new 1640,as im in the uk we went to Doncaster to the case hi factory to learn all about how to set it up and what maintenance we needed to do. i drove it for 8 years then had a 1660 for another 8 years. i then left that farm and went to another one that run a 1680. the worst year i had was in 1991 we had a very wet year all the wheat went down flat like a carpet and some even started to grow to make thing worse every day i had to take the concaves out at least twice a day to clean the mud off. glad that was the only year that happened. loving your videos great to see how it is done over there keep up the good work.

I had IHC combines for years. First ones were a pair of 403 s. Gas engines, good machines but a pain to switch headers. Stepped up to a late 915 corn and bean special. It had a lot of good features, but always feeder trouble and cleaning fan problems. Put up with it for some 20 years, it still sits in the pasture. Replaced it with a late 1660 with the Cummings. Love it but it's getting in need of another rebuild. Got 4800 hr on the clock.

We have 3 1660’s that are currently used. One is a 1990 model that had the 8.3 Cummins in it. The bolts securing the oil pump to the engine backed out & as a result the engine seized. I had an older 1460 that I was no longer using & pulled the IH DT 436 out of it & put it into the 1660. Runs great, does a great job combining & uses a lot less fuel. Changeover was pretty straight forward.

We have an 86 1640 and a 94 1660. We had the 1640 for a long time. The front axle broke on us at the end of our oats and it took about a month to get it fixed in the field. We got it back to the farm and fixed it up a bit. We put new bearings on the drum in the feeder house, put a new poly kit in the feeder house, changed a handful of pucks on the rotor and got it ready for soybeans. My father in law made it 2 laps around the field and the motor blew up. Like, hole in the side of the block about the size of a softball, blew up. We didn't have any luck finding another motor for the price we wanted to spend, so we started looking for another combine. We found several that were on the high end of our price range, but they were all downstate or out of state. We ended up finding the 94 1660 about 14 miles from our farm. It was at the high end of what we were wanting to spend, but it is in great shape and we didn't have to pay freight. So we bought it. We have a 20' 1020 flex head for our 1640. The first year with the 1660, we ran the 20 footer. It got the job done, but we needed to upgrade. We ended up buying a 25' 1020 from my wife's cousin. It worked out perfectly. We ended getting a good deal on a 466 with a turbo for the 1640. With any luck, we'll have both combines going at the same time this year. I'll try to get some footage for you. Thought you'd enjoy the story. Have a good one!
