🇩🇪 Cab Ride 1956: I love the VT98: Simpelveld - Kerkrade ZLSM 5sep2018

We are riding the 1956 German built Uerdinger Rail Bus Baureihe VT 98. Cabview Heritage was welcome at the ZLSM, the Zuid-Limburgse Stoomtrein Maatschappij, or Southern-Limburg Steam train Company. This is a great company with fantastic people. The line is called 'The Millions Line', as construction cost one million guilders per kilometre in the 19th century. I grew up with the rattling engine sound and the horns of those rail buses. I love them.After their introduction in the 1950s, they were dubbed the "saviors of branch lines" because they replaced outdated and inefficient steam trains relatively cheaply.
