When this movie first came out on VHS when I was a teen, we had been living in a new house and my parents wouldn’t get cable, the house didn’t have an antenna, and of course Internet was dial up. It was the dead of winter and there was just no entertainment for us because we didn’t own that many tapes. When we got this one it was the only thing my sister, brother, and I could all agree to watch. So we watched it everyday for 30 days straight. Multiple times a day. We would just sit there reciting the dialogue. LOL My parents then finally got cable because my mom said she couldn’t listen to the theme music anymore. It’ll always have a special place in my heart. ☺️

Gotta love a decade that made making money from threatening a group of people thats so simple some shoeless Somalia's with a rubber dingy and ancient AK47's loaded or not manage to do......constantly into something so complicated yet immediately obvious only a slightly memorable white actor from the 70s can keep interesting for 90 minutes thro the power of "scenary chewing," God this, The Rock (Not Dwayne but the Nick Cage film) and Conair should be held high as pure art! Terrible terrrrrrrible films held together by a few actors force of collective wills, quick cuts, pounding elevator rock music, booooooooobs and main charscters with one constantly pointed out quirk or memorable trait!
These days everything gotta have a message, be so complicatedly simple that the lowest common denominator feels like they are smart smart smart for guessing the 1st 3 plot twists and be totally none offencive to any demographic.....WHY CANT SHIT JUST BE DUMB SILLY FUN SHIT THAT KNOWS AND OWNS THE FACT ITS DUMB SILLY FUN SHIT!
Future generations will never know the joy.......did we peak as a society by 1999??? Was that the real meaning of Y2K?? Ooooh fuck I've just scared myself cos it's so 90s dumb.....it could be what actually went down aarrgghhhhhh!!!
