  • Here is a panel presentation I did with Dr. Howard Schubiner and the directors of the documentary film "This Might Hurt". In the panel we discuss Pain Reprocessing Therapy and the film "This Might Hurt". I also go through a somatic tracking exercise with the audience.
    I hope it is helpful!

That was very enlightening and motivating. It has taken me a lot of work but in the end it was the only thing that worked. 80% of being back to where I want to be.

If changing the relationship to pain is primary then why wouldn't using pain meds not possibly be part of the healing process also? If pain meds take the intensity away from feeling the pain, couldn't they help to reprogram the brain also? Secondly when things are screaming in intensity would a pain med be one of the avoidance tools I can use? Thirdly I never know when I'm doing too much of this creating more pain, Watching videos about this and doing tracing and meditations are most times all I have, Most days it's impossible to not be in terror at the level of pain I feel everywhere. Am I doing something wrong here? I"m such an avid student but I feel I'm falling behind. Am I a person who should engage with a practitioner? Sorry for the lack of brevity.

Several good questions. Pain medication can be a useful avoidance behavior when pain is high, however only using pain medication will not support us in unlearning our pain. That is great you are well informed in a Mind-Body approach. Connecting with a practitioner could be helpful in seeing what areas of your healing need to be adjusted. Let me know if you're interested and we could set up a free 20 minute consultation. My email is: tanner@painpsychotherapy.ca
