One important thing is missed about 1971 is that Britain and USA sent their warship's to attack India to help Pakistan defeat India. Russia came to help of India and clearly told both countries that war with India is war with Russia and they went back. This is the reason India sided with Russia and signed that treaty.

The word India (as well as related Indonesia, Indiana, Indianapolis, Indian Ocean) derive from the River Indus, called Darya e Sindh by the locals. Sindh and Hindh are 2 communities going back multi millenia.. first recorded in western literature when Alexander (Iskandar… there are many people in Pakistan called Sikander even today) travelled along the Indus River stopping along what are today Karachi, Multan, and the land of 5 Rivers (Panjab). The word Hind comes from Farsi (Persian) meaning land along the other side of Indus (Panjab, Kashmir, Rajasthan, present day Northern India).
Adding the ‘Stan’ in Farsi meant ‘land of’ ie UzbekSTAN, RajasTHAN, HindSTAN, AfghanSTAN, KazakhSTAN. Etc. Interestingly the country that doesn’t have STAN in its name is Iran.. which was often called Iran-Zameen. Zameen also means land or earth. If the South Asian subcontinent rulers came from East they called it Bharat (like Ashoka and the Chandragupta who came from Bihar). The people in the East of South Asia called ‘land of’ as desh.. so Bangladesh, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh etc.) also where the term Desi comes from.

    • @swarajjpatil
      @swarajjpatil Před 10 měsíci +3

@IBrainedMyDamage River Indus was called Sindhu in Sanskrit. Persians didn't have the sound of 'S' hence they used to call Indians as Hindu.
When you mentioned RajaSTHAN, it doesn't get its name from Farsi. Sanskrit has a term STHAN which means place and that's the one we see in Rajasthan as well. When it comes to Farsi, its ancestral language is Avestan which has so many similarities with Sanskrit that one may call them sister languages. So, it makes sense to have similar terms in both languages. Although, India got its name Hindustan because of the Mughals but they don't take credit for the name Rajasthan.

The conquest of the then 'Buddhist-Hindu' Afghanistan by Islamic Invaders from the year 1000 AD was followed by the annihilation of the Hindu population; the region is still called the Hindu Kush, i.e. “Hindu slaughter.”
Muslim historian Firishta [full name Muhammad Qasim Hindu Shah, born in 1560 and died in 1620], the author of the Tarikh-i Firishta and the Gulshan-i Ibrahim, Ferishtha lists several occasions when the Bahmani sultans in central India (1347-1528) killed a hundred thousand Hindus, which they set as a minimum goal whenever they felt like punishing the Hindus; and they were only a third-rank provincial dynasty. The biggest slaughters took place during the raids of Mahmud Ghaznavi (ca. 1000 CE); during the actual conquest of North India by Mohammed Ghori and his lieutenants (1192 ff.); and under the Delhi Sultanate (1206-1526). The universities like Nalanda, Vikramashila etc were destroyed by the barbaric and fanatic Bakhtiyar Khilji a Turk in 1193 CE. The great library of Nalanda University was destroyed, ransacked and burnt by the soldiers of Khilji’s army and it is said that it was so vast that the manuscripts kept burning for three months.
The Mughal rule lasted for approx 181 years and ruined India. History tells us that Mughal emperors had committed many criminal atrocities.....Mir Baqi, one of Mughal king Babur's generals, is well documented by historiams to have destroyed a pre-existing temple of Rama and built a mosque called Babri Masjid (Babur's mosque) at the site.
    * Akbar was Immoral in Character and Nature. Akbar possessed a inordinate lust for women, just like his ancestors and predecessors. One of Akbar’s motives during his wars of aggression against Rajputs was to capture their women, daughters and sisters. The Rajput women of Chittor prefered “Jauhar” (immolation) than to be captured and disrespectfully treated as servants and prostitutes in Akbar’s harem. Abul Fazal in Ain-e-Akbari provides accounts of some such acts which are too disgusting to even mention. He had burnt down thousands of villages killing innocent people. Not just that, Akbar had ordered to cut down thousands of trees . The locals in order to save the trees use to tie themselves around trees, which included children and women further infuriated Akbar and he ordered immediately to cut down the trees along with the people. Brutal. (REMEMBER : Jalal in Urdu means 'Great'. Akbar's name was Jalaluddin. And he came to be known as Jalaluddin Akbar later which translated to Jalaluddin The Great.Just like that..There is NO real greatness in Akbar)
On the contrary,Maharana Pratap is considered to exemplify the qualities to which Rajputs aspire. Maharana Pratap never accepted Akbar as ruler of India, and fought Akbar all his life. Akbar first tried diplomacy to win over Maharana Pratap but nothing worked. In the siege of Chittor Akbar had killed 27,000 civilians in cold blood. This left a lasting impression on Maharana's mind and he decided he could not bow to such injustice and cruelty. The title of 'GREAT' should be rightly attributed to MAHARANA PRATAP and not Akbar.
    * SIMILARLY....Majority of Indians agree that Aurangzeb was a religious fanatic and a tyrant. If you read the real Mogul history we can very clearly understand this : -
    (1) Aurangzeb re-introduced jizya (tax) on non-Muslims, led numerous campaigns of attacks against non-Muslims, forcibly converted Hindus to Islam and destroyed Hindu temples.
    (2) For converting other non-muslims he never hesitated to use any tactics, including torturing in inhuman and cruel ways and never ever regretted for it.(eg) The way he tortured Sambaji, the son of Chatrapathi Shivaji is a solid proof of his inhuman attitude and intolerant nature.
    (3) Aurangzeb issued orders in 1669, to all his governors of provinces to "destroy with a willing hand the schools and temples of the infidels, and that they were strictly enjoined to put an entire stop to the teaching and practice of idolatrous forms of worship". These orders and his own initiative in implementing them led to the destruction of numerous temples, Some temples were destroyed entirely; in other cases mosques were built on their foundations, sometimes using the same stones. Idols in temples were smashed, and the city of Mathura was temporarily renamed as Islamabad in local official documents.
    (4) Last words of Aurangzeb on his death-bed to his sons: ‘I know not who I am, where I shall go , or what will happen to this sinner, full of sins. . . My years have gone by profitless. God has been in my heart, yet my darkened eyes have not recognized His true light. . . There is no hope for me in the after-life. The fever is gone, but only the skin is left. .. I have greatly sinned and know not what torment awaits me. . . ’
    * ALSO....DID YOU KNOW - Tipu Sultan persecuted the Hindus & Christians and carried out forced conversions.According to C. K. Kareem, Tippu Sultan issued an edict for the destruction of Hindu temples in Kerala. Tipu got Runmust Khan, the Nawab of Kurool, to launch a surprise attack upon the Kodava Hindus (also called Coorgs or Coorgis) who were besieged by the invading Muslim army. 500 were killed and over 40,000 Kodavas were converted to the Islam, and incorporated them into Ahmedy corps.
In 1788, Tipu reportedly ordered his governor in Calicut Sher Khan to begin the process of converting Hindus to Islam and in July of that year, 200 Brahmins were forcibly converted and made to eat beef..The archaeological survey of India has listed three temples which were destroyed during the reign of Tipu Sultan. These were the Harihareshwar Temple at Harihar which was converted into a mosque, the Varahswami Temple in Srirangapatnam and the Odakaraya Temple in Hospet.
The following is a translation of an inscription on the stone found at Seringapatam, which was situated in a conspicuous place in the fort: 'Oh Almighty God! dispose the whole body of infidels! Scatter their tribe, cause their feet to stagger! Overthrow their councils, change their state, destroy their very root! Cause death to be near them, cut off from them the means of sustenance! Shorten their days! Be their bodies the constant object of their cares (i.e., infest them with diseases), deprive their eyes of sight, make black their faces (i.e., bring shame).' -NOW YOU KNOW

After watching both parts I have to say, a lot has been conveniently skipped and there is very little detail on why India deals with two border conflicts. Southern India which was one of the cradles of early Medieval Indian civilization and essentially the origin of spice trade routes with Europe has been grossly overlooked. The Bengal Rennaissance and the involvement of the INA with the Nazis and the very fact that India exerted authority (unlike what you mention in Part 1) on both the allied and axis fronts of WW2 has not been mentioned. While I agree that there is only so much you can cover in two videos, these two make it feel like a mediocre introduction to Indian history intended mainly for a Eurocentric or Americanized populace. You also miss out on the existence of a fourth class in Vedic period, that of Shudras (labourer class) and untouchability. The Indo-Pak war treaties are heavily implied to be achieved primarily due to foreign intervention. Keep these videos about facts, especially the important ones. Three videos could've done India justice, but maybe not from such a take.
