I retired at 60, and set off to see as much of the world as I could afford. I made three visits to India, and absolutely adore it. I'm too old now, but I so wish I had seen more.

As a French Indian lover, thank you for this short presentation.

One more facts about India's geography, India has world's smallest and largest river islands in the state of Assam. Brahmaputra river is home to both smallest(Umananda Island) and largest(Majuli Island) islands in the world.

As our vedas describes India:- The country that lies north of the ocean and south of the snowy mountains is called Bharatam; there dwell the descendants of Bharata. My motherland, My beautiful home, My Karmbhoomi. Nothing can ever be beautiful than you.
Yea but there are people other than descendants of Bharata & Vedic is not the only culture that's here. It's a very diverse country. Not a homogeneous Vedic society.
Yes, There are so Many culture Vedic and non Vedic but the Vedas are the earliest to describe the extent of bharat, giving a sense of unique socio-religious demographics different from cultures around it. This binds vast majority of cultures in this subcontinent with Hinduism or its cultural continuum. @@aashish9141
@@aashish9141
He's not talking about it in terms of Ancient Vedic Culture. What he means is by blood and as modern Indians, we are one people. Everyone in the subcontinent is more closely related to each other than to those outside the subcontinent. Heck, a Kashmiri is genetically closer to a Tamil or an Assamese (refer Human Genome Diversity Project, HGDP) than they are to a Pashtun right next door. People in the subcontinent have been moving around and mixing with each other and the mountains to the north and west act as natural barriers to limit outside influence in the mixing.
To end, that sentence in the Vedas is a geographical description, not religious. It goes;
"Uttaram yat samudrasya, Himadreschaiva dakshinam, varsham tad Bharatam nama Bharati yatra santatih"
Meaning exactly what he said, North of the ocean and south of the snowy mountains, there lies a country called Bharatam whose people are called Bharatis.
@@xijinpig8982 The geographic region mentioned here is the version of Vedic culture. Not every culture present here has the same world view.
Nobody is talking about genetics here. People everywhere is going to have something common with the ones next to them. We have inter-mixed a lot and have stopped doing that due to solidification due to caste structure.
So yea, again. A lot of regions that are part of Indian Union have their own district history & culture. Vedic culture is just one of many.
@@xijinpig8982😂 stop nonsense. People never moved in India much before 1947. Kerala people do not look like odisa nepali haryana bihar punjab etc. Kerala Arabs jews etc mixed

A lovely simple way to show rich diverse Indian geography. Very well done indeed. Thank you. It is truly amazing that freshwater rivers like Godavari, Krishna and Cauvery were extolled as sacred, to be immensely revered, 100s and 100s of decades ago, much before invaders, 'conquerors' and annexing this land to an 'Empire' reached the Indian peninsula.

I am very grateful for this presentation. India has always represented for me the most tolerant, welcoming, geologically panoramic and demographically exuberant societies in the world. Its democracy has not remained as independent under the current leadership, but I hope things will return to full tolerance of religion and freedom of expression.
We need India as a balance to five other titans-Russia, America, China, Brazil and Indonesia. Of these six enormous powers, India is probably the least selfish, and most naturally intellectually gifted. I happily say that as a American.
If it's birth rate could stabilize at 2.1, and environmental endowment be protected, India will become the global model for a pluralistic, prosperous and peace-loving future!
We very well know what Americans news media write about us. No need to lecture us on democracy when you have just arrested Trump who is the face of president from main opposition. Have you got any shame teaching us about freedom of speech and expressions, you see what your news media feed you and just because don't a damn about your interest your media feeds you bullshit.
Dont buy into Western media myth, this is infact the most democratic India has ever been. Muslims on the ground will tell you that they are having the best economic time of their lives but leftists will make you believe otherwise.
For that Islam should be eradicated one way or the other
To be honest, democracy, human rights, intolerance and hate crimes against Non Christians, African Americans, Asians, Hispanic, Caribbeans, Indians and propaganda media in USA under Joe Biden Government and previously under Bush and Obama Governments were at its peak. USA shouldn't teach democracy to World Biggest Democracy-India.
As i know you watch international news but these international new very much bias against india and india independent democracy it true it has religious issue even before have congress or bjp even other political parties do religious politics for there political and vote gaim as religious very much less and opposition have medicore and weak leader and about Only two state like up and bihar need that not every state because sikkim like facing decrease population like japan
This video, combined with that background music, brought me back to my great memories from the time i spent in India some years ago :) oh the nostalgia. Magical country. Thank you

Thanks for that beautiful and informative video 😊😊😊
India is better for explained in atupid Bollywood movies from the 90s. If gou want to feel good - then hust accept that India was formed in 1947. Before that it was England. Before thay many independent nations .
Excellent video! Loved the details and how things were explained!

Agreed. What CZcams is made for.
As you did India, it was quite interestin. Now please do its neighboring countries Pakistan, Nepal, Bangladesh and Srilanka too. This will complete the geography of the whole Indian subcontinent.
And Sri Lanka has really interesting geography
Bap bap hota hai😂😂deta beta hota hai😂
It would be explainable using this same video. Pakistan really is the western portion of the Indian Subcontinent, with the same Thar Desert, Indo-Gangetic Plains and Himalayas and even the coastal plains to the south.
Coastal Sindh = Coastal Gujarat
Punjab (Pak) = Punjab+Haryana (Ind)
Ajk, Eastern KPK like Swat and Dir= J&K, Himachal, Uttarakhand
Gilgit, Astore, Baltistan, Chitral = Ladakh, Kargil, Lahaul & Spiti
Thar in Sindh and Punjab = Thar in Rajasthan
The only difference is Pakistan has an extra mountain range to the west (the Suleiman and the Hindu Kush), whose function is the same as the Arakan in Northeast India, which separates the far west and far east of the subcontinent from the Middle East and South East Asia respectively.
The only one I would say has a bit of its own geography is Sri Lanka. Bangladesh is just part of the Gangetic Plains and Nepal part of the Himalayas that feed the Ganga.
Thank you so much for your sharing Indian Geography It inspire to all after retirement

There are actually 6 geographical features of India. 5 of them are covered in this video (Himalayas, northern plains, Deccan plateau, the desert and islands). The 6th feature is the costal plains.
Right, I tried to cover the coastal plains in the Deccan section
Correction - The Thar desert is not just one arid and dry region in india. There are 2 others. Spiti Valley in Himachal Pradesh and Ladakh. These are both high altitude cold deserts ,geographically like the Tibetan plateau.
Much high praise for the disclaimer

Is there part of India that has transitional mediterrean climate? I think some plants would fit in my garden in Europe. Is there a place in India that reaches +40c, dry and hot summers, but cool and rainy winters around -5c or around 0c? So i need plant that can take strong sun but also that can take some freezing and frost conditions
Maybe not exactly, but perhaps some parts at the northern foothills of the Himalayas might fit your bill.
Delhi, for example, touches 45-47 C in the summer (bone dry heat) and reaches around 3-5 C in the Winter. Although it doesn't particularly rain during the winters.
Higher up (in the states of Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh) might be closer to what you have in mind. 35 C in the summer and 0 C and below during the winters. Again, it doesn't particularly rain during the winters (some places do experiences snowfall though)
There may also be a few places in the North East of the country where you may find wetter winters. Near Sikkim, Darjeeling etc.
@@kc4276 thanks bro. I will research areas you mentioned and what do people grow there. I am not sure but maybe plants like laegistremia (crepe myrtle) and rhododendrons are from those area and those 2 plants do very well in my area
40°C is quite common,
But 0° isn't, +2, +3 is minimum it gets in the northern half of India.
But again, monsoon is only for 2½ months , No rain in winter.
Rain occurs in winter, in southern most parts, but temperature is more. (Mediterranean climate).
