Four electric kilns, cone 6, under glaze flower painted lamps and bowls, oatmeal glaze tests and Mastering Cone 6 glaze samples. Also how to fix glaze running off the bottoms by firing upside down.
I had to smile at your reactions to your oatmeal tests! It made me happy to see such a accomplished artist still find joy in his work....and it shows in your beautiful work! Thank you!
@@Vsmithpots oh nice! Thats so lovely. Where I'm located in north of Iran in a small town, I love pottery but never actually done it, only one person had the equipments for it and he sold everything and left the country sadly before I get the chance to try it. But in many cities they make pottery. I have only done painting jobs on pottery with acrylic paint.
Watching you open kilns is as much fun as seeing the beautiful pieces you pull from them. The painted pieces at the end make such pretty lamps. Thanks for sharing all your kiln temps etc. It is beneficial to hear and see the result. Cheers!!!
@@Vsmithpots Yes! I should have mentioned that too. refiring the mugs upside down was way better than grinding. Not only sitting level but it is a very unique look!
It is confirmed you have big hands. Karen just went past the computer and said: " There's Freddies hands" Oops miss-identified. Wow again on your loads. The bottle with the mouse brown grey is a beaut. Thanks for sharing the upside down setup! I really like the Lupin by themselves and I always think of Nova Scotia when I hear Lupins mentioned. Now I will think: " Vaughan's Nova Scotia Lupin Rendition." The Fake Ash end result was neat. Finishing off with the Temmoku Gold and Oatmeal was the grand finale. Cheers and be well...Freddie.
Really enjoyed your excitement over the oatmeal test tiles - 👍🏼😃 eventually I will have a kiln so I added those referenced to my future dream list of glazes.
Thanks for showing kiln openings. Your work always stunning. I appreciate you take time explaining the glaze colors and technique. Enjoyed all kiln opens. Especially the underglaze painting designs and clear glaze kiln as that is mostly what I do.....just a hobby potter from Oregon
This was a fun video to watch. Yes the test tiles joy was great to see. You mentioned it was a cone 5 firing but you said it was 2200 some tning degrees. I tbought cone 5 was 2167 degrees. I might be mistaken but you work is great. Thanks for teaching
It depends on the duration of the firing and rate of climb. This firing was closer to Cone 5 1/2 at 108F an hour. The soak time will also effect the cones.
Vaughan someone described to me that you have x 3 lots of glaze that will run at the base of a mug. The cover under the handle, the glaze on the inner handle and the glaze on the outside of the handle....but being an old pothead...you knew that!😁🐨 Greetings from Oz
Those lamp bases are very beautiful - loving the loose brushwork 😍 Also very jealous of the clear glaze - I’ve tried a dozen recipes so far and get nowt but milky, bubbly or crackly - experiments continue 😂
These are beautiful! It looks like you got some pink on the larger bowls which is intriguing! I would love you recipe for the David leech white you made. 👏
I did show it at Minute 36.41secs. There is a lot in the video and easy to miss. My wife says I put people to sleep, as she always falls asleep if I show her one of them.
Thank you so much for such a good video! When you share the DL2 recipe, could you please teach us how to lower the melting temp to cone 6 by changing the feldspar?

I was over joyed. Four new oatmeal glazes and one is ready to use without further testing. Thanks.
I love how confident, humble, and talented you are, and you're fine with sharing it all with others. Thank you.
Thanks, I think it is time I passed this all on.

@@nastarandovar4223 Thank you too. What kind of pottery are you making in Iran? I have seen some amazing tile work from Iran.

thank you Vaughan for taking the time to educate us on the finer points in 'all things pottery' ...you are an amazing Potter and a kind Soul.
You are welcome.

Nothing wrong with Oregon or being a hobby potter. A neighbour here winters in Oregon.
WOW!!!! Those vases are wondful
Thanks
Thank you Vaughan, it's very inspiring, especially the firing upside down. Works a treat!
Stilts work well firing upside down. Thanks
I think your new painted pieces are beautiful! I don't think the red is too intense at all. They are very summery and cheery. Good job.
Thanks I am starting to germinate seeds so the garden will be demanding soon.
So fun to see all your new work and how much you enjoy the pieces. Everything is so beautiful!!! Thank you 😊
Thanks again.
the lamps and bowls are lovely
I love the red poppies. They are gorgeous. Those are my goals to make

It is the thickness of the glazes that makes them run since I double and triple glaze some combos.
I love your channel, thank you for sharing your tremendous depth of knowledge!
Absolutely beautiful work

Beautiful pieces! I used to paint stoneware and redware pottery in my job
Thanks for watching, who did you work for?

Thanks, I am trying a new approach this weekend.
TOP!🇧🇷
Thanks
If more people in the world did pottery, there wouldn't be so much violence. Everybody should have a hobby or something!
It would be a more idyllic world, I think every body playing a musical instrument would also be a great thing.
If you bat wash the shelves could you still fire upside down or would they have bat wash in them
