    If you put the magnet in the mini bases, you could use the boards wired to a small speaker in a modular setup beneath the surface for traps. I admit, my electronics knowledge is as useful as an altimeter to a penguin.

    best way I could see to use this specific piece of terrain: the characters have to push each brasier into place, some are obvious where they go, but they won't "magically" light up until in the right spot; once in the right spot and lit up, a door opens to the rest of the adventure.

    Interesting. You could definitely do something similar for smaller-scale (15-20mm) tanks to indicate destroyed results, for games where the models aren't removed from the table after a "vehicle destroyed" result. Remove magnetized turret and replace with the column of fire and smoke, using the magnetized hull to complete the connection.

    Traps! Use the magnets/sensors for traps....or have a monster/boss/mechanical moving trap in an alcove or cave or behind one way mirror / lighting gel and when the character steps on the square, an LED lights up revealing the monster in an alcove/cave. You could even have the hall sensor trigger a solenoid or servo that springs an actual hidden trap or moving floor. Have it activate a laser that could represent a spell or projectile or fire...heck, it could even be a laser. 😉 Trigger a smoke machine as poisonous gas or some sort of ghostly beast... Endless possibilities!

    An option for your figures is using those micro LEDS with an electric coil. Put another coil under a specific tile, power it with 5V and de LED wil glow. No need for batteries in your model. If you use several coils, you can alternate the ‘danger zones’.
    Or (the ideas keep coming as I type), use aa Arduino to randomly switch zones on and off. Controlled by time, or by the positioning of a certain object with a magnet on a specific tile with a reed switch under it. You can make an inter active board.
    Or…

    • @DafyddRoche

      NLG - This technology has been under discussion for quite a while now. I really struggle to find a coil that is under 1" diameter, also, wireless power transfer is incredibly power inefficient. the bigger coils (like those seen on adafruit) required 12 to 24V to drive, at mutliple Amps in some cases. That gets things HAWT!
      I've already prototyped boards on the receiver side. That bit is pretty easy. The TX side is a Pain In The A.

      I think the major benefit (and yes, I'm the guy that designed them, so I'm biased!) is that the only modification to your terrain when you're building it is hiding magnets. Great idea and innovation. It strikes me that you could also do a removable base or plinth with a magnet for some braziers, then they could be put anywhere at all. How sensitive are the switches, did you test the range?

      I dabbled with that technology too! The coil required for a terrain is massive and needs embedding in the terrain. Embedding a $0.03 magnet is way easier and cheaper. -- but I do keep looking and watching the wireless power tech! It will mature at some point. There's some that's being touted for hearing aids, where the coil is tiny and low cost.

    I am an electronics noob, but is there any way for those little lights to be a little bit longer? I don’t know how hard it would be to add a little wire.
    I was thinking it would be really cool to run it through a hollow Warhammer mini and give the mini glowing eyes. Would probably have to be a larger monster with a tactical rock that you could hollow out for the electronic’s housing… BUT I think there’s potential there.

      Hello @atomwyrm541 - Dafydd from Terraintronics here. Michael does a much better job of showing how to do stuff than I do on my own channel. Have a look at some of the video's he's done using a Conwy Castle board. He uses a Wire Wrap Tool and some thin Wire Wrap to connect it all up. (the tool is about $25). A soldering iron kit is about ~$15 these days.
      Given where Michael started with his electronics, he is living proof that anyone can do this! ;)

    I was expecting this to be those wireless LEDs that run off a giant nearby coil that you had installed into the terrain. Then they wouldn't be constrained to just where ever you've installed magnets. Though this does beg the question of how strong of a magnet does it need? Could a large sheet style magnet like used in fridge magnets trigger them?

    • @DafyddRoche
      @DafyddRoche Před 5 měsíci +1

      I’ve played with those coils, and found that they are massively inefficient. THe small ones are easy to run from a 5V usb power battery, but as soon as you to 10cm+, you need 12V or higher with a surprising amount of power, wasted as heat.
      That’s not to say I’ll never design one, but I need to find an easier, cheaper and more efficient solution.

    • @Frentraken
      @Frentraken Před 5 měsíci +1

      @DafyddRoche @DafyddRoche odd that's not a sentiment I've seen shared about those. They do need higher voltages, so the battery pack part is valid. Would need a full power supply of some manner. But excess heat and high power consumption weren't concerns I've seen raised before. Heck the one demonstration showed a smaller 12v coil lighting up 20 or 30(I neglected to count) leds with a doubling of current draw but heat didn't raise as it was still under 1 watt draw total.

    • @DafyddRoche
      @DafyddRoche Před 5 měsíci +2

      @@Frentraken Good feedback! I can only talk directly from experience. I used a USB Power Bank, a ~20cm diameter coil and a USB Boost converter to take 5V and make it 12V. The heat generated by the boost converter was high and as a consequence, the battery life was pretty poor. My day job experience with Wireless charging has shown that it's massively inefficient as well.
      Having said all that, maybe it's time to reinvestigate this technology. I do look again every six months or so! :)

    • @Frentraken
      @Frentraken Před 5 měsíci +1

      @DafyddRoche boosting 5v to 12v would be most assuredly the main kink in that set up. If you want to stick to battery I'd aim for an RC 3s lipo and boost it to 12, or even better a 4s, and a step-down.

    ¿Queréis reparto a la hora que cada uno desee? Eso implica un empleado por cada horario de cada persona, el cual deberá tener un horario que se ajuste al cliente y esto es imposible por logistica, siempre habrá alguien que le venga mal el horario de reparto, pero es más, ustedes cuando compran un artículo no están pagando el reparto sino que hay acuerdos económicos entre las partes para los repartos que son insuficientes ya que la moda es pedir bobadas que encuentras en la tienda de tu calle, pero por no ir a la tienda y moverse, que te lo traigan a casa, gratis y al horario que quieres... Pues no sólo no va a ser de vuestra manera sino que va a ser cada vez peor y tenéis dos opciones: Dejar de comprar masivamente productos que tenéis al lado de casa o pagar para tener ese reparto personalizado que queréis. NO HAY OTRA, si no hay dinero no hay repartidores y menos para tantisimo producto inútil, o podéis repartir ustedes sin salario y ya nos cuentan que tal

      @@CampervanCookout I actually came here to comment that people who have aphantasia or hypophantasia may find physical additions add to their experience greatly. OP may not be familiar with the fact that there is a spectrum over which people have the ability to visualize things in their mind. If OP is hyperphasmic, and doesn't know about this, they may not have even considered that some can't imagine the image of an apple, for example, and therefore have a completely different experience in games like this. Personally, I wonder how this affects people's learning styles, too.
