  • How to remove the gas tank from a first gen 1967 Pontiac Firebird or Chevy Camaro, it's pretty easy and doesn't take much time at all. Just make sure you soak those strap bolts down a few days before to make sure they come out like butter!

    My friend just got a 69 camero and from my knowledge the firebird and the camero have a lot of thing in common like the gas tank etc. We are about to drop the tank in a couple days and I was why you didn't pull the line that goes to the engine or if you just did that off camera

      I didn't replace the fuel line to the motor, just flushed it out with some gas and compressed air. But if you line is really rusted, might wan to to just replace it. Let me know if you have any other questions.

    After seeing your videos a couple weeks back, I went to fire up my 67 Bird this last week and dust her off before it gets too hot. Fuel pump is bad (EFI, in tank pump), so guess what I'll be doing? Yup! Fun vid. It takes me back to when I was tearing my tank out for the first time.
    My trunk was all swiss cheese, tho, even for being a SW car. Count yourself blessed. Trunk pan is an AWFUL job.

      I am so thankful there was just a bit of rust rot in the floors, saved me a ton of time and money for sure.

    Original build sheet would of been there. Look under back seat, might be one there too.
    Sit on seat push back and up on each side to release clips.

    It looks like it would be a replacement, not having any rust, the return line being blocked, and the wiring no where to be seen, I'm only working on a Australian Ford falcon EL1996 wagon, front ball joints, and tie rod end's, very entertaining, all the best to you and your loved ones

    hey there ! the stud from my tank strap broke, do you know how to take it off ? thanks!!

  • @davearmstrong7745
    @davearmstrong7745 Před rokem +1

    Is it necessary to remove the screws around the gas cap and around the neck boot in the trunk? Seems like just removing the large hose clamp behind the license plate should do the trick.
    Just asking because I am about to drop mine to replace the sending unit.
    Thanks!

      Nope just leave those screws alone and pop that neck boot off and it’s good to go! Tomorrow is the video on rebuilding the tank and putting it back in.. be on the look out for it tomorrow

    is you car an ac car with the return line fitting on the fuel pump?
    If not thats a replacement tank. I think only the ac cars had the return lines.
    Also the tank looks too clean to be a 67 original.

    • @ArrowheadGarage
      @ArrowheadGarage  Před rokem

      Cant say for sure if its a original tank, but yes my 400 AC car does have the return line on the frame and tank.
