Hey, Sage Audio dude here! :) Good video. I can't reiterate your first point enough! Time and time again I've found problems people are trying to fix in mixing should be dealt with in composition, arrangement and production. If your source is good (and that includes arrangement!), your mix is easier.

The problem i find myself still doing, when composing, sound design....i keep working to long. And i end with to much tracks that have great evolving parts. And because i work to long I start trying to put all my tracks in the song. Without cutting parts away or keep complete redundant tracks which add nothing to the song. They make mixing horrible, and composition start to be non existent because it's just a cluttered mess. Now i usely start from mock ups, put it away, listen again, and from these elements make a good composition and new recordings. Just put in more time. There's a way you stop hearing what your doing....

you only need to cut antiphase LF for vinyl - otherwise have at it!
