Crockiller sand can absorb water but if he comes into contact with it, he can be hit temporarily, as the water deals with the sand. Also he absorbs moisture bc he has an awakened logia.

Smoker's Logia devil fruit was cool, but Crocodile's fruit is the first time we got to see the truly terrifying elemental capabilities of the Logia class. Not only do you get control over the element/substance of the fruit's name; you get the ability to become that element/substance, which is pretty stupid cool with all Logia fruits we see after the Suna-Suna no Mi, e.g. Ace's fire fruit, Aokiji/Kuzan's ice fruit, and Kizaru/Borsalino's light fruit.
I'm glad that you mentioned the Suna Suna no Mi's ability to create miniature deserts by absorbing all the moisture in an area. This was a fact that took half the Alabasta arc to put together, but I realized that the reason Alabasta was turning into such an arid wasteland was because of Crocodile's power. I believe that he was constantly using his DF power to get rid of the water supply of course resulting in civil war. Secondly, because he was constantly using his DF power, I believe that Crocodile is a lot stronger than he appears during the Alabasta arc. He had to dedicate a large amount of energy to the absorption of the island's moisture which left him less energy to use for combat. Not that I think he would have necessarily won against Luffy in the end because his arrogance (as you pointed out in your video on Crocodile) played a big role in his downfall. Overall, this is still one of my favorite Devil Fruits in the series and Crocodile is one of my favorite villians in the One Piece world.
... if Croccy learned Observation Haki, then he would have EPIC observation haki! He can sense everything on the surface, and he can sense things underground!!! AWWWWWW YEAAAAAHHHH
I thought the water/liquid weakness came because Crocodile trained himself to become sand subconsciously when attacked. If he could choose when, and more importantly, when not to become sand, this may not be as big of a weakness as it is. For example, if he chose not to become sand when Luffy sprayed him, he could potentially have at least dodged, mitigating some damage. It could still theoretically prevent him from changing into sand, but the option to dodge and retain mobility is still there.
5:02 - 5:29 There is actually logic behind that because sand only melts into glass at 3090F so the Mera Mera no mi is out of the question but this also applies to Akainu as well because magma’s heat can only go from 1300F - 2400F so even that’s not enough
Crocodile is BadAss but after watching your Bartholomew Kuma Video I seem to be more interested in Kuma than Crocodile. Still Great Vid Love This Series
So, the sandstorms and the Dry part are probably due to awakening, and despite not being official yet, its pretty much obvious what it is and how it works for Logias. When that info is put together with what he speaks about himself "iv trained my powers to the utmost limits" its pretty easy to see.
I agree. Crocodile was the first character in the series to talk about DF abilities as being more than just a trick or a "power." He made it clear that once you eat the fruit, you have to ask him think of it as being an extension of your body and explore the possibilities.
You when you think about it, this Devil Fruit probably has the biggest weakness out of all the Devil Fruits. All Devil Fruit users naturally can't swim and are weakened if too much of their body is submerged (I've heard some people say knee deep or waist deep, I can't remember which). As such, Devil Fruit Users naturally have to avoid water. The user of the Sand Sand Fruit basically has to avoid water all together.
I mean, yes and no. If you're careful and expect the water, you can still absorb it. People keep forgetting the sand sand fruit can counter its own weakness.
I can imagine if the user were able to awaken this fruit, they could probably turn a lot of distant objects into sand, which could mean they could surround foes while standing still. Not only that, they could probably absorb the sand and increase their size. Granted, we know from Gecko Moria that enlarging oneself isn't always the best tactic, though someone like Crocodile could likely make it work as long as he didn't take in all of the sand around him and left plenty underfoot for his enemies to stand on and potentially be bound with or drained if the awakened fruit's power allows for remote moisture draining when someone is standing on sand connected to the user's willpower.
If crocodile could have a form of good observation haki or good timing he could turn into sand and dodge the liquid enhanced attack like katakuri does with armament haki
The Suna-Suna no mi is my favorite logia devil fruit. With this fruit u can fly, create sandstorms, and absorb all moisture. In my opinion it is by far the most versatile devil fruit. However I do understand that is also has the most weaknesses but either way I think the pros out-way the cons.
