- Could This Simple Product Replace Gun Fitters!? We know a shotgun that fits is crucial for good shooting, but many shooters are using shotguns that don't fit them well. You could go out and get a custom fitting and that is a great option, but this new product may allow you to achieve that perfect fit yourself. Is this a tool that you would use?

Put this on a gun you had professionally fitted and tell us how it lines up.
The purpose of this device is to help align the eye with the rib. If your gun does not shoot to where the rib is pointing it will not be of much use. Some guns do not shoot where the rib points; you should pattern every unfamiliar gun to check for this.
For what it is and how it works, may be good for a quick reference at a store to check basic fit.
Would I buy one = No.
Take a simple straight 1/4" red, black, or green drinking straw about 12" long and tape it dead center onto the barrel mid-rib.
Mount the gun properly, look down the barrel rib through the straw at the front bead. It will tell you the same thing for free.

Seems like a decent product, but the $160 price tag is ridiculous.
Well I mean it isn't a 1 time thing.
Put a tight choke in your gun. Take four shells. Put a 30"x30" piece of paper 16 yards away at 7-10 feet off the ground. Put a 2" black dot in the center of the paper. Stand back and mount the gun and shoot at the dot just like you'd shoot a clay or bird flying directly away from you. DON'T AIM - JUST MOUNT AND SHOOT! Shoot four shots without examining the results (four shots eliminate the possibility of a single poor gun mount.) If the pattern isn't dead on the dot (50/50) or a little high (60/40), your shotgun isn't shooting where you look (Point of Impact or POA), the stock needs to be adjusted. Many right handed shooters will see the pattern a little high and to the left with "standard" off-the-shelf shotguns. If it is high left, you need some cast off and the comb lowered a bit. Paying $160, as the OP says, is not for the one gun owner. Four shells and some paper is pretty cheap!
It's a little pricy if you just want to line up your own guns, but it's down right cheap for someone that want's to work on others guns

I'm a High school Trap coach, this will save a huge amount of set up time at the beginning of the season when the new shooters with new guns show up.
So the title of this video really grabbed my attention. If you do another video on it would you please demonstrate how it works on various shotguns (sxs s ๐), bead styles, rib styles etc.

9:57 I have one that i bought at sparta maybe 10 years ago. He quit making them soon after. This must be a new version of the one i have. They work great. I'm a youth trap coach and have set up many guns with it.

It looks impressive, it's something to think about for selfers or people, like you said that don't want to pay for a professional shotgun fitter. I think it looks like a good tool to purchase and a handy item to have.

Wouldnโt work on my new 940 pro because the rib is so ridiculously crooked. But , Mossberg tech says itโs within tolerance and even went so far to tell me that since I put an aftermarket red dot sight on it, I should be able to compensate for the crooked rib. $1000 gun? Nope.

Hi, just getting into Clay pigeon shooting and been a few times with my friends they own their own guns and now applied for my Shotgun License and have a question after watching you're vids, (Videos are great and very helpful by the way) Q. I've worked out that I'm left eye dominant but right handed, I have been shooting right handed and didn't do to bad for the first time, if I start to trying to shoot left handed ( not sure if I will get use to it) do I need to get fitted left handed or right handed when I purchase my first shotgun being left eye dominant?guest its working out what side I want to shoot first and then get fitted but what's my best option?
Good point on mastering a consistent mount first. But I think it is very hard to get a consistent gun mount on a gun that doesn't fit. Seems like chicken and egg. I think this would actually help a lot to try different adjustments until that gun mount gets easier to repeat. Then revisit it and fine tune after some practice.
That said, I have had good luck starting with mid bead and end bead alignment and changing elevation of comb until my breaks are clean.
Would that tool only work for trap guns? Would it work on a semi automatic shotgun such as a Winchester sx4

Do a review over the spandau target. I have one. A 32" ,12ga , adjustable comb. Electors. I love it. But I value your opinion.

HI Steve, you mention that it's set up for a 60/40 POI. If your gun is set up for 50/50, and you put this on the end of the barrels. Won't the lights be set up for 50/50 as well?? With out the shims that is. Or is it simply to align your eye to the rib and proper face placement on the comb??
That Rizzii has the IPS rib it has 3 adj points 50/50 60/40 & 70/30 You have the rib set at the 50/50 POI.What happens when you adj the rib ?

Tape a drinking straw on top of the rib and mount the gun with your eyes closed. Open them and if you can see down the straw, your gun fits reasonably well. A lot cheaper method!
Does it adjust if you want a flatter shot?

Unfortunately, in the state of Connecticut, I know no gun fitters, and the ones that say they are they just rip you off, so a tool like that could be worth it for me.

Ik this isn't related but i hunt alot and im looking into trap shooting and the ones ive seen are way out if budget for my 14yr old self, if ydm can u pls make a vid reviewing budget friendly trap guns?
Interesting tool. I have not developed any proficiency in my trap shooting so I wonder how well my gun does fit me, but I don't know if I want to spend $150 for an incomplete fitting. I am curious how much a real, professional fitting costs, if I even know where to find one.

That's why on my Stoeger M3000 I went with the Magpul sgva stock adapter. Really dialed it in for me as I am a big fan of that stock. Now I just need to practice.

I've been told I am a gun fitter - that is, I am a mechanical fixed plant fitter and I am a gun at it! But I'm not sure thias product could replace me!

Suppose I have a Grandson about 14. His growth spurt will be any time. I'd like to get him started and I am of quite modest means. We might find a youth model Mossberg for example. I don't think the "value line" youth models come with ribs. So can this tool work with a plain round barrel?
( When he grows and fills out some He'll get my Berretta 686, then we can start over)

Especially as a kid there's probably a long list of people who know what they are doing happy to help you. Go to gun club or store and ask the manager who can help

This is just another gimmick. Any instructor worth their salt should be able to fit the gun using their eyes and experience.
All this is doing is relying on the shooter to tell the instructor if the gun fits and encourages tinkering.
If went to someone for a gun fit and they used this, Iโd be walking out.
Really stupid. There is way more hype than actuality here.
