I JUST got home from seeing dave live..(charleston WV) fkn genius. He was hilarious. There was one,solo trans person with a sign out on the sidewalk holding a sign "HATE KILLS COMEDY" he even spoke about him at the end of his set. He told everyone to give that person a hug.

There is no need for a statute of limitations for speech. We have free speech we are allowed to say anything we want, no matter how you feel about it. Wether your offended or not. Like it or not.

'Free speech' is a US thing and it is just about the government's ability to regulate your speech. It doesn't say anything about your employer dropping you for something you said or, say, a business kicking you out or refusing service to you based on things you said.

It’s absolutely hilarious that you think white people are being fired for being racist when in reality that’s not true in the workplace. They say all sorts of things because they know regular minorities are too afraid to actually say anything. They don’t want to be accused of being a troublemaker or being “too sensitive”. A lot of these accused people have been misbehaving for a while and they finally get busted years or decades later. Paula Deen was being accused of being discriminatory for a while. Besides, black celebrities aren’t the ones really posting those types of comments anyways. They usually get in trouble for other things.

I think there's a difference between saying something stupid and calling someone the N-word. Yeah it was 30 years prior but if you're going to have a platform that big and people of all races/ethnicities are going to be the ones to watch and support you, those people have a right to know who it is that they're giving a platform to. I hear what you’re saying Dave but you are also making assumptions of growth and taking all account of what a public persona vs reality is. All that to say should people be forgiven and given the consideration of youth and misguidance; yes. Cancel culture sucks; it’s too harsh and unyielding and leaves no room for any of those things or context, however what you propose is an equally polar opposite.
