Presumably the new owners are releasing these now because they are either redesigning the old concept, and these are fillers, or just can’t get good new content.
Lets give credit for the outstanding photojournalism here. This is high level material. I really appreciate the narrator sharing the emotion of the act of driving the 356. I was fortunate to own 2 for several years, a 1956A coupe and a 1961 B coupe. My friend had a very low mileage 1964 356 C cabriolet. All three cars were tested to the limit, and the 356 A was used as a test bed for a variety of different engines including racing variants. What separated Porsche from the rest of the sports cars on offer was the high build quality, overall competence, and durability. 356’s and 550’s began to win endurance races against much more powerful cars. The rear engine design enhanced traction during both acceleration and braking. The twistier the road the faster the little coupe was, especially on poor road surfaces like alpine passes. The big aluminum finned drum brakes were the best in the business. I never faded the brakes on any car I drove. Hauling the car down from 120 mph was solid and predictable. That certainly wasn’t the case with the competition. Slowing from speed on my XK120 was more like a smokey reentry. The 356 required the driver to be sympathetic, and respect the unique handling characteristics of the rear weight biased chassis. Come into a corner too fast, and lifting the throttle would provoke a snap spin, leaving the road backwards at speed. With practice a skilled driver could exploit the car’s unique combination of abilities. If a crash ensued, the monocoque body was exceptionally strong and able to protect the driver. Ask me how I know. The field of automotive crash safety was still on the future horizon at this time. Mandatory seatbelts were 15 years away.
Back in the mid 80s had the pleasure of having a friend that specialized in all variants of the 356. It was like stepping back in time whenever I stepped into his shop, all manner of Porsche in his shop. I HOPE THIS COMMENT IS SEEN BY THE REST OF COMMENT SECTION! Yes this format is agonizing compared to the usual videos you see here but realise that this format was created long before Petrolicious was under new ownership. These videos were created by the previous ownership for the paid members! These videos are also a different series compared to the "Made to Drive" series and will obviously therefore be different. I'm sure these old videos are being published while the new ownership is creating new content in the format we know and love. So chill out...
I genuinely hope that they're reading the comments. For the past few videos that have been released, it's been consistently the same issue. The format of the content is no longer the same, the passion is missing. The people that sub to this channel doesn't want to hear someone review the car, you don't get the same level of magic when someone reviews the car. Let the owner do the story telling. Please for the love of god don't let this be another thing that 2020 is taking away from us. It's been rough enough, we want to see more of the old stuff that made this channel. Otherwise, between this and carfection......I'd much rather watch Henry Catchpole.
God, those shots are sweet, this car and that scenery are just meant to be together. Its definitely on my bucket list to drive there sometime. Only complaint of this episode would be that his mic seems to severely enjoy my left ear...
I thought i heard Tif Nedell from Fith Gear. Then i double checked to see if I was on Petroliscious. Do i get the old format if I pay? I would do anything for it
Really like this format, it's interesting. Petrolicious already has like 6 or 7 videos of various 356s in the 'old format' for people to watch for the nice cinematography. You can't just go on doing the same thing for ever
I'm ok with the presenter format, but please tell the editor it's ok to cut the music when whoever is narrating is getting to an important point. Or at least bring the volume down while he talks. Edit: since others are commenting on liking the old format, to each their own, but one of the problems with the owner interviews is that a lot of them didn't know what they were talking about when it came to getting facts correct about their own cars. It was ok, most of the time, but man when people didn't know what they were talking about it would ruin the whole vid.
I strongly dislike the music but even worse: The mixing is horrible. Has anyone with a pair of functioning ears listened to this before it was uploaded? That said: That is one very special car, and especially the shots of it with the lights on, in slight darkness and haze, are stunning! Overall a beautiful video.
I know right? Can barely hear what the presenter is saying yet the music and car is ridiculously loud. Made it really hard to watch. Like I live with other people, I don't want to deafen them.
@@diarmuidmarsden7752 Exactly. I live in an apartment, and was watching the video at slightly after midnight. Having adjusted the volume to the hard to hear voice, I nearly had a heart attach when the car roared by at a lot higher volume.

I quite like this format, as much as I liked the old one. The music though...
The "Music" is not adding anything to the video.
respect from Kaliningrad)skyline owner)
Great video, as always
Like Mother Nature designed it, take sheet metal and let the wind shape it. Timeless. I would trade my 911 for this one.
I want this car!
I'm curious about the espresso maker.... Where do I get one ? Of course the Alfa is an absolute Beauty 🍀
Great video, but I do miss the previous “owner video” style. Please bring it back. @Petrolicious, are you reading any of the comments?
Great video but once again, I have to say, we need the old format.
We need the original owner to tell story not this guy. Where is the original Petrolicious format?
God, those shots are sweet, this car and that scenery are just meant to be together.
Its definitely on my bucket list to drive there sometime.
Only complaint of this episode would be that his mic seems to severely enjoy my left ear...
I enjoy this new format but do prefer the old owner stories. Room for both perhaps.
Magnificent! Thanks for sharing!
Where did they find this supermarket advert actor, sorry but you have lost it.
Amazing video...amazing car
Beautiful
I thought i heard Tif Nedell from Fith Gear.
Then i double checked to see if I was on Petroliscious.
Do i get the old format if I pay? I would do anything for it
тачка супер для того времени ,в каких фильмах подобные снимали ?
Great guts for driving this on such a greasy road...
We got Doug for this, what happened to the old formula?
Really like this format, it's interesting. Petrolicious already has like 6 or 7 videos of various 356s in the 'old format' for people to watch for the nice cinematography. You can't just go on doing the same thing for ever
Please bring back the old format with the owners.
What is wrong with the sound balance: voice vs. engine sound? Somehow much harder to hear the presenter than in other videos.
Or is this my equipment playing up
@@Rei_n1 no no, I have the same problem with the video. I guess the guy need a clipon mic, because the sound balance is not on the point
if you still with this format by the next week. we're done. unsubscribe.
Agreed 👍🏿
My 59a sounds just like this car.
Likewise, #106728’s keeper here. Yours a 4Cam?
Chris Markham its just a regular 59 356a.
Classic Carfection?
Wet road. Rear engine. Drum brakes. Narrow twisty road. I was SOOOOO nervous watching this video.
Take it easy with the music! And why are you using a presenter now? The stories of the owners was the thing that made your videos different and special.
Always love Porsche ❤
It's changed, where is the owner?
