- It isn't possible to travel to India as a tourist tight now, but I got to experience some Indian hospitality and cuisine by checking into the Taj hotel in Dubai.
At $200 a night there are certainly cheaper rooms to be found in Dubai, but for some 5 star luxury and being located close to Dubai Mall in the downtown area, I thought it was worth it for a short stay.
My room on the 31st floor had an amazing view of the Burj Khalifa, the tallest building in the world. I paid extra for this view. I remember when I was booking that I could have got the room as cheap as $150 if I had chosen a room on the other side of the building and didn't included the buffet breakfast.
After quickly getting settled in to my room I made it to the Bombay Brasserie for lunch just before they closed. I was only going to have a light meal like some chicken tikka and rice but I saw some lavish set menus and I couldn't resist.
My set menu had appetisers of Basil Tikka Chicken, Bhatti Prawn, Minted Lamb Chop and Achari Scallop.
The main dishes were Butter Chicken, Jhinga Alleppy Curry, Martabak Lamb Curry, Edamame Spinach Curry and Dal Makhani with loads of naan and some raita.
The desserts were Matka Phirni, Ras Malai, Fig and Date Halwa and Gulab Jamun.
Pure gluttony and it didn't stop there because at the a la carte breakfast buffet the next morning I couldn't resist ordering one of each of the South Indian breakfast foods on the menu.

$200 a night, that's really cheap for a 5-star hotel for a room with a view, compared to US hotel rates. Indian hospitality is always amazing.
Thats probably because of covid and hardly any tourists in dubai right now...normally this hotel would atleast be twice if not thrice as expensive...But i agree about US hotels...hardly any of them are worth the money...most old and falling apart...even 5 stars look like they have not been renovated since early 2000's with old LCD TV's and furniture...
USA Las Vegas hotels are the only places worth staying at...I think 🤔

The way Dale eats with his fingers and the technique says so much about an individual getting absorbed into the Indian culture. I was surprised to see that he seems familiar with some of the dishes. Him questioning every single dish for his curiosity is nice for a viewer who's learning about Indian cuisine.

I went to the Taj in Colombo. Best Breakfast Buffet for Sub Continent Cuisine especially because it was so flavourful without the extra strong heat. Couldn't believe it, amazing! Taj in Dubai has been on my bucket list since then. Great video!

I like your innocence as how you mix up the food which we indians are very particular about
So usually naans and parantha are meant to be eaten with items like butter chicken,dal makhni,paneer curries etc etc
And steam rice usually goes with south indian curries like example in this case prawn curry..
You will never find an indian eating naan along with dal and rice in one bite😊😊
I was legit drooling in the last part of the video with that pickle and mango jam. They're called 'Kairi ka achaar' in India and Kairi is Raw Mango. A must have condiment with Indian food. I love to see how you enjoy Indian cuisine, Indian luxury hotel, Indian hospitality. Lots of love from India 💕

I’m from Bangalore, India. I live in Dubai. Usually I get sick watching other people eat but watching you eat is an absolute treat, I love that you eat with your hands and aren’t afraid to get messy with it.
When i get the notification of one of your videos is.on, it puts a smile on my face . No fancy cutlery and a typical Scottish down to earth view and with a smile and always polite .
I would say 200 dollars a night is definitely worth it for that breakfast and the luxury room you stayin at. And as dale says FANTASTIC 😂
