I wonder if more than half of the people commenting here even understand what the word "Casualties" means...
I think a lot of it is coming from the fact that the deaths for Gaza (~30,000) was replaced by what must be plain casualties (~100,000) but the change in the type of data being presented wasn't clearly mentioned

Sorry for the stupid question, but what do the numbers on the map mean? I thought it was casualties, but it doesn't correspond with the box on the top left, and also sometimes they increase and sometimes they decrease.

The Palestinian casualties should have the Palestinian flag representing them. Hamas military wing has reportedly 40,000 members, so clearly by any logic the 100,000+ casualties are not under that banner.

Numbers are very misleading, IDF only has about two or so brigades in the Gaza strip, or 4,000-10,000 soldiers.

Casualties include deaths and the injuried. Casulties are the number of losses one has sustained in a conflict. Take note that we are also including civilian casualties, or Civilian deaths and injuried. One man can get injured multiple times and he would be counted as 4 of those casualties

I am always confused by why do people wish for peace? It sounds good on paper but there are many things wrong with it. Yes it will stop the war but the thing is, the people in gaza will still face horrible conditions, and the Palestinian would face mild occupation by the isreali. The thing people really need to wish for is a solution to the conflict.

The difference is the percentage of Casualties from Hamas warriors are less than 10% of total casualties. On the other hand Israeli soldiers make more than 90% of total casualties.

Idf killed - 350
Total Israelis killed 1200
Ever since, another 250 Israeli soldiers killed. Obviously barely any Israeli civilians would die in this stage, since hamas is busy defending itself in its own territory.

On October 7 hamas killed more civilians to citizens ratio than what Israel killed until today.

If so, how is it, dear IDF, that the casualties on the Gaza side are so massive in comparison to Qassam Brigade fighter numbers, and yet the casualties on the Israeli side are so small in comparison to IDF troop numbers involved??
Are we to conclude that the crudely equipped Qassam Brigades are far more accurate in targeting their enemy than the IDF with all their precision guided arms?
The army sizes as shown here isn't accurate, there is about two IDF brigades in the Gaza strip, consisting of 4,000-10,000 men, I estimate that based on Gaza war unit tracking's statistics, Hamas has approximately 7,800-9,600 remaining.
As for casualties, I believe they're counting both combatant and non-combatant, in fighting in Gaza, the IDF has lost approximately 260 soldiers, in comparison to Hamas, which is about 13,000.
As for a breakdown there is about 6 Hamas battalions, typically a battalion in the Qassam brigades consists of 1,000 men, and each brigade has 2 or 3 battalions.
There are also 8 distinct Hamas companies, consisting of upwards of 1,600 men, each company is about 100-200 men.
Plus an additional 1000-2000 clandestine Hamas operatives operating in northern Gaza.

According to U.S intelligence 13 000 Hamas soldiers have been killed. Meaning that between 21 000-27 000 remain. The U.S and Israel reported on April 22 2024 that 'several thousands' Hamas troops remained in Northern Gaza. Additionally Hamas has begun to re-enter Southern Gaza which was recently withdrawn by the I.D.F
According to Ynet and the Times of Israel, Hamas has suffered major set backs and has become disorganized but can still 'continue fighting for years to come'.
Overall the IDF has suffered 260-600 deaths (varying sources). The figure of 13 000 consists of those killed on October 7, IDF, Police and Shin Bet officers and Israeli settlers in the West Bank as well as injuries.
The figure of 100 000 on the Palestinian side includes injuries as well as civilians and military deaths and injuries.

It means soilders. They are incompetent tho. Nearly 15x bigger with top tier technology and 24/7 bombardments from the air against a group of rebels with 800 meter range rocket launchers. They will claim full control over parts of Gaza (especially the northern area) but they be met with rockets launching hours after that statement. That’s clearly not full control.
@@CandleEmpirenot the frontlines, that's the entire military. Israel's numbers went up a lot just because they called many reservists into service. But they didn't just send them all into Gaza, the Israeli military is on standby for wider outbreaks of conflict on their other borders. They have been skirmishing with Hezbollah in the north, there was the incident with Iran launching missiles at them, etc, which is of much higher actual threat to Israel than anything happening in Gaza.
