- I ride my electric scooter to Flushing, Queens from Astoria on Father's Day 2021. I start on 30th Avenue, and then travel via Newtown Road, 31st Avenue, 58th Street, Broadway, and Roosevelt Avenue. For a holiday, I expected there to be many more people out enjoying the day. The Jackson Heights and Corona portion through Roosevelt Avenue was the busiest part of the route.

Starting at 82nd Street, the ride was a panorama of my childhood through the early 1950s. The party atmosphere at Junction Blvd. was like a celebration of my immediate old neighborhood. i used to bike between Astoria and Flushing a lot. I took Astoria blvd usually but Roosevelt is way more interesting!
Cant wait to visit Astoria again. Even though I moved away I always try to make a trip back to see friends and family. I remember being a kid and sneaking Papaya King food into the old movie theater xD

Are scooters etc permitted to go straight thro red lights in NYC?
It’s illegal, but it’s the social norm to do so. Many cyclists and scooter riders go through red lights all the time. Just make sure traffic is clear before attempting.
What kind of scooter do you have? Is it reliable as far as the power and amount of ride time?
We trek all the way to Muncan Meats in Astoria. No place is too far for good food :)
