I have an insinkerator 555ss installed it at my house 23 years ago, my wife uses it daily cooks all the time and it’s never even jammed once. Unbelievably good disposal for your home & worth every penny.
They no longer make the SS models. Thanks for watching
My 555 was installed in 2000 and is still going. No leaks yet.
Thank you very much for the practical facts which not many other plumbers talking about.
Thanks for watching.

I just replaced a badger five with a three-quarter horsepower compact model. The thing I like about the upgraded models is inside is stainless so it won’t rust out as easily which is exactly what happened with my badger five. The new one is also nearly silent. Where as the badger was super noisy, so I’m happy. And yes, I can attest the only two times in my life where I’ve had a clog was with potato peels or pasta. I learned my lesson.
Stainless inards are great but most disposal suffer motor or bearing failure when they die. Not rust.
@@masterflowplumbing9812 that certainly wasn’t the case with my last two and only two that have failed, both failed due to rusting out at the bottom.
Thanks! Great information. I found you just in time. I'm getting ready to replace our garbage disposal... for the third time in 18 years. I'm not going to put an offbrand unit in this time.
Happy 4th of July!
Glad it was helpful!
What i now know from this video is actually im the moron and its not my garbage disposal clogging my drain. Thanks for sharing and saving me 200$! Subscribed
Awesome. Thanks for watching.
I noticed that there are two motor types you can get them with. There is permanent magnet or induction. Induction is usually going to last longer since they don't have brushes like the permanent magnet ones do. If you have any good power tools like compressors or table saws the better ones come with an induction motor. Induction motors are quieter or maybe even silent depending on the quality of them. If you have a swimming pool the motor on the filter is induction and rated to run for a long time too. Even if they overheat for some odd reason they may have a thermal fuse that temporarily disables it so it can cool back down and those fuses usually reset automatically but the same motors may even have a circuit breaker (that red button).
Your overthinking it. Just go with the badger v and move in. Anything else in the disposal world is just a waste of money
Insinkerator Team, pay this man!
Yes they should pay me millions. Thanks for watching
would you recommend stainless steel housing vs galvanized? and which one? thank you
I mentioned that you don’t need to spend a bunch on a disposal. In the end they all last a certain amount of use and that’s not
Insinknerator compact Garbage disposal spin in what direction? Thank you !
Clockwise
Lol I no longer work in the field and spend most of my time trying to talk people out of flooding their house or creating s traps in the retail world… I also constantly try to steer people away from those Moens and other disposals. Get a 1/2 hp insinkerator, you’ll be just fine. Put your food in the garbage the disposal is for the left over rice and what not stuck to the plate
Yep disposals are misused a lot. I had a customer try to dispose of a Christmas tree one time
@@masterflowplumbing9812 lol that’s crazy
I’ve never had a garbage disposal but am going to install one soon. Do they automatically turn on when it senses water, or do they all need a switch to turn on?
Definitely need a switch. Thanks for watching
You definitely need a switch. Thanks for watching.
What’s a disposal for if you can’t put stuff down them? Plate scraps only? Seems like a waste of money if that’s the case.
They’re all a waste of money, they’re useless and are just another point of potential injury cause in a house, you’ll be happier with normal sink drains
Some people for sure.
I would rather use a garbage disposal as a apple grinder or a homemade compost machine in the backyard.
lol. I suppose it would do good for compost. Thanks for watching.
Most of the other brands are made in China. insinkerator Made Kenmore for Sears. Whirlpool actually owns insinkerator now.
They really are the only name in the disposal world
Will soon be a thing of the past, like Central Vacuum. Plumbers never install garbage disposals in their OWN houses.
Not true. I have one. My wife would. Ever got out one.

Not sure what the date means but happy birthday
The Badger 5 series should be banned. I've seen so many kitchen cabinets damaged when these eventually leak out the bottom.
