My name is Jess and I started a mobile detailing business in May of 2023 with absolutely ZERO knowledge. I wanted to share my journey and lessons learned as I go and grow through business. I do not consider myself an expert!! But I’m simply just sharing my experiences along the way to growing my detailing business.
I am officially closing on my first season in business in 11 days and I wanted to share an update with you on my first 6 months in business!

I have been detailing for a little over a year. I had the same hand & wrist pain. Magnesium Chloride is the only thing that worked- brand Ancient Minerals. The salts & rub on oil. I couldn't sleep the pain was so bad. Now it's a lot better.
I practice the way I move, very methodically I work my process.
My body feels so much better.
I hear you on having your body adjust to this kind of work. Tbh though if you have good technique, i sometimrs feel like i just got out of a yoga class after a detail. My body's tired but feels alot better thanif i was sitting at a desk all day.
Agree! I feel way worse when sitting all day!
Agree great 6 months. Best of luck on your southern trip. You should kill it as well as your details are. Fingers crossed for you
Thanks so much!
You’re definitely right on the weather and it does hurt the mobile detailing
That wrist and hand pain it's just the muscles getting use to that kind of work.. construction workers. Mechanics... blue collar type workers, etc, your body goes thru those changes
Agree, that’s what my husband said as well. I’m thankful it’s finally settled in after 6 months!
Hi Jess! Glad to hear things are going so well 6 months in!
Here in Indiana our slow season is usually November through February! Not a dead stop but definitely way more of a work load April-August!
Thank you so much! I thought I replied to this comment but I’m not seeing my response, so I apologize if I’m double replying! The holidays definitely slow up A LOT of businesses, but hopefully it gets busier for you this year now that you’re a few years in!!
Also you should be proud. It's not always easy work and only 6 months in, you're killing it
Love this
Thank you!
Good luck in FL jess, rooting for you, great video, i can relate i tell ya ohh so well
Thanks so much!
I am so pumped for your trip to Florida! I bet you will do great! We hope to do something similar in the future but for now we are on year 2 of our brick and morter detailing business ❤
Hey Jess I hope you are well and I’m so glad your business running well just take enough vitamin D and Omega 3 for your pain and muscles Greetings from Brussels Belgium 🇧🇪
Thanks so much! Will do 😉
Me alegra que sigas adelante Jess, te veo desde Medellín Colombia 😊
Thank you!!
Florida has WAY more money and 0 snow so is 24-7 BUT WAY MORE COMPETETION. good luck in my neck of the woods.
Agree to all of that! Thank you!
That’s great that you’re going southbound soon. I have followed you from your beginning videos I really enjoyed them all. I here in south of Florida they’re a lots of RV camping sites there. I’m will follow you and be safe and make a lot of money.

Terry form the DMV.
Thanks Terry! Yes they do!
First off and before anything u should be looking on scaling ur business, ur in a rare opportunity where the demand is high and supply is low, no time to rest but hammer it down and you'll grow ur business exponentially (believe me ive been there and capitalized on the opportunity) Secondly i couldnt agree more and laugh as well about ur experience especially the pain both physically and mentally on doing detailing specially mobile, this profession is not for everyone and it is both grief and rewarding at the same time. It is very taxing on the body and ur right u will question urself at times and will quit a few times in ur head as well but u power through it. Good luck and hope ur business grows!
Thanks a bunch!
Awesome you are heading to Florida for the winter! I’m also a new mobile detailer from the New York area so my business is also coming to a close for the season. Just spent a week down in Florida scoping out places to move too and will be making the move also this November. Will be Exciting to start in a new area!!
That’s awesome! Moving for good or for the winter?
@@DetailWithJessat the moment I am thinking just for the winter months then back to New York. But I could end up staying not fully sure yet. Lots of unknowns but kind of exciting!!
I started my mobile detailing business right about the same time as you. I’m 49yrs old and feel your pain… I ended up getting carpal tunnel syndrome in my right hand and it got to the point it was so painful I couldn’t even sleep and had to have surgery on it.
Doesn’t rain much here in Vegas so weather is pretty predictable, but once we wind the clocks back will be getting dark much earlier so less time to get in details for the day.
I’ve been super busy going non stop up until Halloween then just slowed down this week.
That’s so good to hear! The pain is brutal! Trying to use my tools more and hands less has helped a bit.
Florida where theres no off season and there's a million mobile detailers. Lol. I'm just east of Orlando where they shoot all the 🚀 off.
A gazillion mobile detailers!! Nice!
the rain is off season all the time lol
i had my best ever month this month in october, 2 coatings for 900 each and an rv machine wax for 1200, camper etc, fulltime since 2021
Heck yeah! That’s awesome, congrats!
That’s so weird. When I am comfortable with my business in MD, I am moving BACK to FL and starting again! ( i used to live there and cannot stand the cold and dreary). And then you made this video???
I lived here in CT all year round last year for the first time in 6 years and it was awful! Never again haha The dreariness is too much for me too. Much luck on whatever you decide to do!
Self-Fusing Silicone Sealing tape, for emergency hose repairs.
Thank youuuuu! This is why I share my problems, ya’ll are the best at solutions 😆
Hey Jess, I recently found out your YT channel where I saw some of your shorts and videos. I decided to re-edit one of your shorts and turn a larger video into a short.
If you're interested I can send both to you so if you want someone in the future to do shorts /video/thumbnail editing as your business grows
That’s awesome, thanks. I would like to step up my SM game. You can send them to InfoAtTeam510@gmail.com if you would like!
This florida move should be interesting. I live in California in a market with good weather yesr round but an endless amount of mobile detailers, Btw I would add a google my business page when you get to florida, i probbaly get 80 percent of my customers from google and its free.
Interesting, for sure! Haha The competition is high for sure. I am going to keep my google business page and update my address. I get a good amount of business from there as well, it’s awesome, isn’t it?!
You going to MTE? Hope to see you there. Keep up the great work!
Didn’t even know about it til now!
I just started my business 3 weeks ago here in Las Vegas.
Awesome! I hope it’s going great!
I live in Florida , stay off my turf! Just kidding! If i'm not mistaken you mentioned the villages??? You just might turn into the Golf Cart Detail queen! If you're growing this fast now , ( just my thoughts & opinions) maybe you should start scaling up now / looking for someone to join , perhaps figure out some type of basic method / system to detailing the cars, then when they're able to detail on there own it will be your way and your expectations of a finished job etc... Perhaps offer 30% pay of that job (if they upsell they make more and you do too..) + they keep tips...... if you decide to hire another person you have your " basic method / system to detailing and your helper can train the new person should you decide to get another taking more of the load off you.... Maybe adjust your prices accordingly now while you're still fresh instead of later when you have a lot more established customers , the hit wont be so bad.... Just thoughts , random ideas I've thought about personally.
Haha I’m not planning to build in Florida, I know there’s plenty of detailers down there as it is! But a friend here and a friend there will get me by! Thanks for the thoughts! I am kind of playing around with some thoughts to see which direction I want to go. I may just keep it small and build a different business, we shall see!
O yeah the body pain. The best thing is sleeping. I just finished a 6hr detail. My aerobics class is done. 😂😂😂
Haha It’s some work, that’s for sure!
What part of ct are you guys out of
North east :)
You're 38? I thought you were like 20 lol
I wish 😂
