The ferris wheel never ran officially. The amusement park was supposed to open on the 1st of May that year.
It actually ran a day before the accident, unofficially. The wheel operator was inexperienced and overloaded it one side, so people got stuck there for about half an hour.
The grand opening was supposed to be part of the May Day festivities. May Day of that year was officially wiped from the record.

We had to infiltrate the abandoned city to take the shot.””It was the first time our government had authorized an assassination order since the Second World War... Just to give some perspective to the numbers. He's reading 0.9 µSv/h outside of the reactor building. Inside the US capitol you'd read around 0.3 µSv/h just due to the radioactive elements in the granite. That's kinda remarkable considering a nuclear core spilled it's guts out a few hundred yards away.

Picking up graphite would be less painfull than that fox joke
Really lol you sure about that lol :)
Picking up graphite is usually painless, because it made out of carbon, which is with the exception of some quite rare isotopes stable. Pencils are made out of graphite. So unless for some really odd reason you pick up graphite that used to be part of a nuclear reactor, you will be perfectly fine.

Just imagine how much radiation there was when it blew up 😧
Morgan Green I mean radiation takes a super long time to deteriorate as in it’s gonna be uninhabitable for 100s of years
Ghost Gunner I was gonna say thousands but I think humans will develop technology to clean radiation
ALOT😶
Ghost Gunner I read up on it and naturally it’ll take another 5000 years or so to become habitable but look how far humanity has come in the last 100 years I think we will for sure have the technology in 1000 years

The good old days
Holy crap I just played that mission
See my video for the conclusion
This was a good video. Truthfully, I had no idea that it was even safe to walk around Pripyat.
Duga radar wasn't to protect the soviet missiles but to detect the western ones. It's an over the horizon/early warning system and it was operational for more than a decade. It's a pity if the guides there told you this, either they wanted it to sound more interesting or they just don't know what it really is.
i think he just described it poorly when i visited with the same company they my guide described the radar correctly. however i was on a private tour so i guess it would have been easier to get the point across than it is to a group of 20
I fought with capt MacMillan there

Every Chernobyl video I hv come across has to have that eerie bgm.
Anyway I liked it.
I was here a month before this video. I also highly recommend the tour.
Really wish Chernobyl was a two season series but it was very good the end is so sad
It's called Geiger Counter or Dosimeter and it measures Ionising radiation in Sieverts (Usually Micro-Sieverts)
1 Sievert = 1Joule of energy per 1kg of body weight
a geiger counter is not the same thing as a dosimeter. he has a geiger counter.
He went all in with that 'What does the fox say' joke at 2:08 and the room was empty 😂 even the fox was like wtf
Janku super, škoda jen že na youtube nejsou stejně zpracovány titulky jako na streamu. Great job man!
All I can remember from wheel and buildings is COD Cpt. Price and Cpt. McMillian
0.91 usv/hr is super low. That's only marginally over what normal radiation levels an average person receives - which is 0.71 usv/hr.
Maybe in certain cities. But normal background out in middle of a field would be more like .03 µSv/h. Still, it's remarkably low given the fact that a huge nuclear reactor spilled its guts out just a few hundred yards away.

That radar relay was actually operating. It was a part of the secret Soviet military base Duga-3, located deep in the woods somewhere outside of Pripyat, and was the source of the mysterious "Russian Woodpecker" radio signal that was heard around the world. The signal was so powerful it interfered with emergency radio broadcast and airplanes all over the world. To this day, no one actually knows what the signal means. All they know is that the "woodpecker" sound heard in the signal was a signal jammer.
Imagine the infrared radiation emanating from that bad boy...🤯
Ukraine number 1!!
The signal wasn't supposed to mean anything, the waves were just meant to bounce back from the ionospehere and detect possible missiles from the west
