    Mr. Parkit works great. We live in Prague 3, but did it before we got our residential parking permit. There are also some parking garages in the center. There's one right behind where Janek is standing. One close to the National Museum and other places.

    One important point missed about parking signs.
    If it says RÉSERVÉ, it is reserved for locals, you will not find a machine there. (3:21 in the background)
    If there is a symbol of a parking meter, there will be a machine nearby to pay for the parking. (1:04)

    0:34 There's actually a station called "Háje" ("groves" in Czech)? That's hilarious, considering "Jdi do háje" (literally, "go to the groves") means "buzz off", "go to hell". Imagine what happens if someone asks for directions and part of the answer is telling them to go to the Háje station (that kind of misunderstanding must have happened at least once) 😂

    • @mickys8705
      @mickys8705 Před rokem +5

      The difference is in preposition - "go to Háje" - "jdi na Háje", "go to hell" - "jdi DO Háje".

    • @Pidalin
      @Pidalin Před rokem +6

      we use it as joke very often, but there is difference between singular and plural, "jdi do háje" means you go to one grove, while name of metro station háje is plural like "groves," but because of declension, it happens that both words are háje in this case.

    You should've mentioned that most parking zones in the city center are time-limited to like an hour or two, it simply won't let you buy a longer ticket (or even like consecutive ones). It sucks a lot in general.

    • @acceleratedsloth
      @acceleratedsloth Před rokem

      Those are almost only sings with RÉSERVÉ on them which means that they are reserved for locals and that is why they won’t let you stay there for longer.

    • @shashlyktv
      @shashlyktv Před 8 měsíci

      You can pay just for different zone that is near to you but you can stay on the same spot. You won't get any tickets.

    The locals have different rules, they pay a yearly fee (about $100,-, depends on the Prague district), it is kind of cheep for the Prague residents. Well you can park only in your area, not everywhere in Prague.
    There is another yearly pass for Prague non-resident, that is already more expensive, about $500,- per year I think, and again it is only for a particular district. This might be available for everybody, well it takes some time and papier work, so it is not worthy to waste your time if you spend just couple of weeks, eventually only some days, in Prague.
    So yes, as Janek is saying, the easiest is to park in the P&R, the cost is reasonable, and just buy the public transportation ticket for a day, that is really cheep and in the end the public transportation is faster and more comfy than a drive in the town. It is very easy to find the public transportation connection on the google maps.
    For those who are in a good hotel, the parking will be included anyway.
    Have a fun!

    Problém u P+R je, že cena parkovného roste, pokud stojíte déle jak den. U zóny 1 stojí stání na 24 hodin 50 Kč a pak 10 kč za každou hodinu nad, u zóny 2 100 Kč + 20 Kč za každou hodinu nad. Když přijedete do Prahy na tři dny nebudete platit 3x50 nebo 3x100 Kč, ale 50+48*10 nebo 100+48*20, tedy 530 nebo 1060 Kč, a to už je rozdíl.

      If you want a proper campsite, look up 'autokemp praha' (kemp is the Czech word for camp). The ones near the zoo (there are a bunch of them in a row, put 50.1173, 14.4280 into your GPS or map) are right by a bus that goes straight to the city

      Google "camping Prague" and it shall drop some opprotunities. Pick some close to metro of at least tram stop (metro stops running on midnight but trams drive all night long - just less frequently and different lines - night trams numbers start with 91 etc.).

    Hang on there! "Perfect Public Transport System"? Are you sure it's perfect ;-) You have a great public transport system, is it perfect and everyone else are worse than yours? I beg to differ, my friend :-)
    Don't worry, I like your system, but calling it perfect makes me a bit worried... Perfect means that there's no way to improve it, can we agree on that? Just say it's great, which it is. "Perfect"? I wouldn't say that...

    • @romanc189
      @romanc189 Před rokem

      From survey from 2023 is ranked as second (behind Berlin) best public transport so I guess we can call it perfect. Well ok in night it's not perfect but who cares about night transport and compared to rest of republic it's more like heaven and hell.

    • @Pidalin
      @Pidalin Před rokem +1

      I traveled a lot in Europe in last 10 years and I haven't seen better public transportation system than Prague has. But ofcourse, it's not perfect because nothing is perfect. And quality of public transportation really is not about how modern buses or trams are like some people believe, it's about if you can get to place where you need to get.
