THURLESTONE GOLF CLUB PREVIEW
Thurlestone Golf Club is situated on the beautiful south Devon coast in England and as Peter Allis once said in the Pebble Beach of the South West of England. I am going a step further to say that it is very much the Pebble beach of the UK.
In 2019 I was lucky enough to be apart of a FootJoy trip where we travelled from the West coast of the USA to the East coast starting at Pebble Beach and finishing at Bethpage Black in New York.
Having played at Pebble Beach I could see a great deal of Thurlestone Golf Club in it and have not see anything like it in the UK.
Thurlestone Golf Club has lots of history and attracts many people from all walks of life to its wonderful fairways. In this video I will be sharing with you my experiences of the venue along with meeting the General Manager (Simon Bawden) the Head Professional (Steve White) and member (Alan Robertson).
If you would like to visit Thurlestone Golf Club please see the link below for details:

Okay. So I have been a subscriber of yours since you left Mark's Channel, still subscribe to Mark's, James Robinson, Bryan Bros, Shiels Finch and have subscribed to all them for years.... all that to say I have watched a LOT of CZcams golf, like A LOT..... Not a slight towards anyone else but this video right here is my favorite CZcams golf video I have ever witnessed. The amount of time and effort that went into respecting another golf course is a testament to you, your love for golf and growing the game. Well done sir
Thanks for the kind words Coy 👍
Dan your vlogs are the best , keep up the good work
Stunning as are the general managers socks. Water melon pics it looked like 👌🏼🍉
Another great video Danny boy I love to hear from the workers from the clubs, interesting and such a stunning place 👏 👍
Wonderful video Dan , and what a special place it is 😉🏌️♂️⛳️🍻
Well shot video and great editing. Seems like a great course and well run club. Will give it a go one day thanks 👏
Great Vlog once again Dan and a great new concept for content. Keep them coming
Another great video and another golf course on the list to try out. 😎👍👌
Great video Dan, beautiful golf course, love the history.
Love it dan look like a good tennis player too very talented 😍👏😜👍👍
That was a beautifully put together video Dan. 👍🏻
Travelling 4 hours in the am to play Thurlestone. Beyond excited great content Dan pretty much the only channel I watch at the minute keep up the great work 😘
Fantastic Kevin, play well and enjoy, thanks for watching & commenting
That whole area is fabulous, when I lived in the UK, Exeter, I would spend weekends at Hope Cove, a kilometre east, camping. I didn’t play golf then, but walked the cliff path and sat on the beaches; it is a wonderful place for all. But Dan don’t tell anyone, or everyone will go there...😉
Really enjoyed this video format mate. Brilliant interviews.
Fantastic looking course and beautifully put together video. I doubt they need the publicity but this will certainly boost their visitor interest for sure. BTW I've been lucky enough to stay on Burgh Island - well worth a visit too.
Dan your content is constantly improving another great video. Just wish we had courses of that quality with those weather conditions near me!
We are so blessed in this country to have some wonderful and stunningly beautiful golf courses. Yes we all bugger off to the Spains and the Portugal’s, but really we don’t need to with what we have here! Brilliant vlog again Dan! 👍😀🏌️♂️
Amazing looking course envious from Minnesota!!
Excellent video. What a really good idea too. Can’t think of another golf CZcams Golf channel that does this. Would like where possible to see something like this for most if not all the different courses you vlog at in future. Nice way to publicise golf clubs as what must be a really difficult time for them economically. Keep up the good work.
Dan, you have a very charming way of teasing so many of us who can just drool about playing such a gorgeous course. A beautiful expose of a majestic place.
Great vlog on the course. Filming excellent.
Nice insight Dan - was down that way at the weekend around Totnes and agree the countryside and seaside views are fantastic - next time I'll have my clubs and drop in at Thurlestone!
great work team dan!
Good video to show the course and history
Credit to Lee on this one - superb editing. Your channel gets better by the week.
Always nice to see Simon Bawden , a real gent and acquaintance for more years than I care to remember . Top golfer as well !
Another enjoyable video Dan. I really enjoy the variation in your videos, keep up the good work.
Played Cayman the other week due to your video there with 9 non golfers who all loved it.
Great vid and such varied content from your channel!
Beautiful course!
Born in Plymouth. Moved away as a kid, visited every year until my late teenage years. now living in Michigan but my Heart is in Devon. Great video's Dan. Thank you for the memories.
Nice looks fantastic
Played here in a society. Lovely layout and stunning scenery. Great vid.
Lovely Place Thurleston
Great video as always. The membership is very resonable tennis included as well, mind you bit pricey for the visitor.
This course blew me away. This beautiful piece is the icing on that cake. Beautifully shot ,wonderfully edited excellent interview. Thank you Dan really enjoyed this look behind the club. More please
Looks fantastic. Made me feel a little homesick over here in Bangkok.
Excellent video, it was a privilege to be included.
I really enjoyed the insight into this beautiful course, and some of the people who make this place special. As a bit of a history buff I always like having a look at the past, and the events that have shaped it. Love the direction of the channel, Dan; and look forward everyday to viewing the content. Thank you.
What a spectacular golf course, truly the Pebble Beach of England. Not a true links, but plays more like one than Pebble Beach! Great video Dan, I would love to see more like this.
Great content Dan! What a lovely looking course and some great insight into the history and future of the club. Hope to see more like this in the future! Keep up the good work!
Enjoyed the history insight into the course, much appreciated. The camera shots of the location are stunning, you have the good judgement to let the camera take in the natural beauty of the landscape and not clutter up the shot with unnecessary features. Well done, if I ever get to that area I will have to check this course out.
Dan this is a truly brilliant video and is a real credit to you and your team.
I had never heard of it before your series, looks fantastic, one for a day trip!
Thanks for the history lesson Dan! Always enjoy learning about the courses you get to play over there. Tennis game looks pretty sharp too 😉!
Played here a few years ago would love to go back beautiful course good challenge can’t say enough about the views ❤️
Another great video Dan. Have to sort that foot fault on the serve though lol
Looks amaza-balls. You're doing a great job promoting the SW.
See you took my comment from Part 1 of the course vlog to heart....
👍👍👍
Definitely on my bucket list now
⛳🏌️🏆🍾
Nice one dan very interesting
Great vid bud!! Lovely to see Simon doing so well and nice to see still got that tennis action partner 😉!
That was a brilliant video, and something to do again around other courses. So much better than the normal standard course reviews, and a great way to promote golfers in to the area. Future content might be how to play this type of course on a windy day, something that I would struggle with.
I think when you visit such a beautiful place....such as Thurlstone. The golf almost becomes secondary! Thanks Dan :-)
What a lovely insight into Thurlestone golf club.. Fantastic video Dan... I'm lucky enough to live near Saunton golf club and RND but Thurlestone is up there for sure, I loved my round there and will return one day... Very good
You boys really have some lovely courses to play down there
i played the course twice loved every minute of it had good weather which helps
Amazing! A place I’m hoping I can get to play soon. Just watching the video takes some of life’s stresses away 😂
First looks nice to play there
Makes me want to move to Devon/Cornwall... so many great courses.
Great insight in to a spectacular golf course, would like to get down there for a round at some point.
It’s a real pity CZcams limits you to one like per video, this was another outstanding insight to a course deserving of more than one 👍🏻
Such a beautiful area! Looks like you're the same set up as me - writing and tennis left hand, anything 2 handed (golf) play right handed
Mate, you are a decent tennis player too! And a lefty!
Great promo for the club, I bet they are pleased. My only concern, the people on the beach ! Take care
Looks great , Have you played Nefyn on the Lyn peninsula , Wales, also very similar views , more like pebble Beach I thnk
Loved this. Informative, well edited, some truly stunning shots. If there's going to be more of these, can we have them posted after the now (for me) regular 'Sunday show'? Lovely content for an easy Sunday morning ☕
Beautiful. When you think about it it’s surprisingly more golf clubs don’t have grass tennis courts. They’re already employing err.. grass experts (probably a word for that!), they’ll already have a clubhouse/changing rooms and usually a bar/restaurant and grass courts are probably quite an attraction.
Great video Dan👍🏼 So relaxed and beautiful made. Well done 👍🏼 Don’t mind to live over there. Does anybody have a job for me over there? Let me know I’ll be over in no time 😊
For those of us who cannot travel to the UK due to Covid, I have appreciated your recent course vlogs on St Mellions and Thurlestone. Others on Trevose or St Enodoc or some of the other great courses in Cornwall and Devon would be enjoyed.
We will be looking to do these in Sept/Oct 👍
Love the look of this course. Shame I'm in the North East of England. Maybe one day.
Some nice Tennis skills there Dan although you step on the line when serving. And youre left handed??? What a course could spend the rest of my life playing on a course like this.
Yeah lefty in a lot of sports I play 👍
What a great video! I need to get down to Devon and play some more courses... Which course to play first?
Dan, question maybe for Sunday. I see you have an apple watch, what is the best golf app for the watch and why?
Another superb video Dan, really am enjoying what your producing for CZcams. Keep it up 👏👏👏.
Just one question, it's a topic maybe you and Lester may choose to debate. I use two different golf balls, the SrixonAD333 and the Titleist DT Trusoft. They both seem to work well for me.
Do you think I should stick to just the one type of ball, or do you believe its good to chop and change golf balls.
I mean it's a vital part of the game we all love, so using the correct ball should be a large part of what we decide I suppose.
I'm a 24 Handicap and have tried a variety of different balls from various manufacturers, yet these two balls seem to work for me.
Just thought I would ask.
Best wishes guys.
A bit of a hidden gem?🤔
Fact Johnny Miller commentating on a pebble beach tournament in the US noted the closes matching golf coarse in the world is in his words. Thuuurlstone golf coarse in England.
Well done, Dan! btw, who was that lefty on the tennis court who kept foot-faulting on serves? A bit like teeing up in front of the markers, lol.
I’m starting to have to hit a rescue as a 13 year old from the first tee
While it looks a stunning place to play and will definitely be considered for outings in the future, calling it the UK's Pebble beach I reckon is a kick in Nefyn and District's teeth. The coast line in North Wales and that course hugging the coast deserves that title. This can be England's Pebble tho.
Can’t say about Nefyn but I have played Pebble and I can only report what I see and feel. My thoughts may however change once I have played Nefyn 👍
@@DanHendriksenGolf You are in for a treat when you do, and it was not meant as a criticism of the review. Thurlestone looks magical.
Video quality here was incredible. New/different camera or am I imagining things?
Just my M50 canon 👍
You a leftie then, Dan? Same as me but I play golf right handed, and I’ve played a fair bit tennis too. I’ve found the claw grip helps me re putting as my left hand is the dominant one. Do you play left under right?
👍
Parking in the disabled spots?? oops, for topspin forehand, need a little work on the backhand grip, but all in all, good potential !!lol
Foot fault DH! :o
I think Nefyn Golf Club would have something to say about that statement!!
Sadly the Nefyn peninsular holes are ruined by public access through the course, which now makes them too dangerous to play, IMHO. However, the other parts of Nefyn are almost as good, so it's well worth a visit. The most dramatic course I've ever played is Old Head of Kinsale. Very pricey to get on to but worth every penny of it. Just don't go when the weather is bad.
Have you tried Nefyn golf club?? I’d say worth a visit.
No, not yet Kate, hope to one day 👍
Dan Hendriksen Golf make sure you visit the famous Ty Coch Inn on the beach. Only been once but it’s one of the best golf trips I’ve been on and will definitely be going again. I hear you were at Newport golf club the other day, my home course. By the way really like your content, informative and entertaining.
It is a beautiful course, it has everything I love about golf, but to go from beautiful to stunning you need a ruined castle as part of the scenery - South Devon has just been too peaceful for the last 1500 years!!
6:10 Foot Fault!!!
Was that you serving Dan, looked like a massive foot fault
I noticed that too. Ha. Beautiful course. Wish i could make the trip to play but cv19 going to make it difficult for quite a while. I'm in the USA.
@@MSDOGS1976 I'm in New Zealand, Paul's Brother brings us altogether across the world
@@dbharwood7500 Ahhh NZ. My dream vacation. Another bucket list item. My list is long tho....
Dan, you're left handed playing tennis, but right handed golf?
Yep 👍
And can play tennis too! Not at all fair!! lol
Yr a leftie, please explain! I'm right handed in everything but I skim, plaster left-handed.
Please ask Bernie
What happened with you and Mark Crossfield?
czcams.com/video/brpZdJW1_x0/video.html
Foot fault called. Hope that wasn't an ace!
Try St Marys Golf Club if you want views.
I am no mechanic, but your steering wheel is on the wrong side. You might want to have BMW look at that.
6.14 foot fault!
😉
Wait wait wait...lefty tennis and righty golf? ?????
