- Short notice: Unfortunately I do not take requests on this channel, mainly due to them being time consuming and sadly having a rather busy schedule. However, please enjoy the content I post and thank you for watching!
---------------------------------------------------
On Wednesday, I visited Charlie - Washing Machine Guy, to have a small one-to-one wash-in. Got to see quite a few of his new machines, a lot has come and gone since I last visited in 2019. So first up is his newest and favourite of the collection, mine too. A Hotpoint WMA66 Ultima Extra in Zircon Silver with a 1600rpm spin speed. This was the TOL model in 2002, however Charlie would originally have preferred a WMA76, hence the newer square door on it, but likes the programming of this one.
This to me was everything about my childhood, as I owned a WMA64 (1400rpm model) from 2002 - 2007, to which was damaged by my own stupidity and carelessness. I am on the hunt to find one, but Charlie has offered to be in aid of helping me get one wrapped up and packaged like new to relive my childhood memory of it being new again). This is a Cottons 60ºC cycle, run at 40ºC with the full minute at 1600rpm. It's an absolutely amazing machine.
Stay safe and enjoy! Plenty more to come!
This machine brings back so many memories. I remember some of my family and friends owned these particular machines. I definitely remember one of my aunties owning a Ultima.
I had this exact machine miss it so much definitely looking for another one 👍🙂
This is my favorite washer. Plus it's so cute too. Love the spin bursts.
What a wonderful machine! Didn't know this model existed! Immaculate condition!
It’s unfortunately a model that doesn’t show up very often, compared to the WMA64. He got it in such amazing condition.
what an amazing machine 😍😍
I had one of these but in white the same one as the carbon brushes replaced on the washer George repairs page
Sounds lovely and quiet 😍 great video!
The 1600 models use a quieter, brushed DC motor
The WMA Ultimas sure do bring back a lot of memories for you. What machine was your old WMA64 replaced with?
She got replaced by a godawful Tricity Bendix AW1201W
@@HooverA3060 hi Brandon I like the wma66 reminds me of my old wma74
@@MissdaredevilfanloversRickastl
They’re very similar but, programmed differently and a slightly increased capacity ☺️
Mines got replaced by hotpoint swmd 9637 which she got replace a month a ago with a beko, wma 64 and swmd 9637 were my childhood machines
wow, i love that final spin! doesn't waste any time at all with getting up to speed.
I love machines that do that. Pity LG's don't ramp up like this on the very last burst
that would be lovely if they did, although i do love the very slow acceleration on the 36 minute final spin
My mum used to have a WMA76, The Ultima WMA Machines were the best imo.
I love this WMA66, i have GOT to get my WM76 working again soon
You definitely must!
Yhe only downside to the project is having to get 2 WM6x machines, and they'll have to be polar white as well
@@TherealCentral1 Which won't be hard at all for that range
It's convincing my parents that's the hard bit
@@HooverA3060 you wanted the 1400 version of this one in the same colour as this one
Was waiting for this! Can't wait to see this machine in action, i may be tempted to get a WMA Ultima Extra myself in the future ;)
You know what I say to that? Go for it! That or one of mid-range WF models with the "boost" spin to them
@@HooverA3060 or better yet, WD440 anyone?
This video was 20 days ago but I am losing in time 😅😅😅
I think we are all lost in time. Perhaps we are all time travelers from a future world, looking back at our past.
That is a nice washing machine!
It certainly is!
@@HooverA3060 I am thinking of getting a Hotpoint Ultima WMA60P soon!
@@washinglad1400 I had the hotpoint ultima tdc60p dryer
@@Laundrytime1200 try getting it if you wanna lol
Loved that final spin!! EPIC!!! The faster the machine spinned, the more epic the experience was to watch. Brushed motors always make such epic sounds and spin cycles. But, I just don't understand why do there have to be so many individual bursts rather than one long spin...Also another disadvantage is before the spin begins it distributes and then stops and tumbles and that can destroy a perfectly balanced load (you said that in the video)
The whole idea with the bursts is to reduce the stress on the motor and bearings at high speed. It was well known for older machines that ramped up in one go to strain their motors ridiculously as they’d fight against the water being extracted, whilst trying to run at full power. Personally I find it makes the spin more entertaining, as I absolutely hate machines that spin up in one go
@@HooverA3060 yup agreed!
one of my dream machines , also would love a wma58
Just like how I’d love a WMA64 and WMA48. I remember a school friend having a WMA58S, sadly never saw it in action
Fast acceleration to 1600 rpm on this hotpoint wma that's crazy
They were very well known for fast acceleration
The song intro reminds me of a series dk what one though
It’s the intro from The Office (US)
@@HooverA3060 omg yea I knew it was from something
I'm currently doing a towel wash in my owned-from-new WMA64 - just the white (now cream in the case of quite a few of the plastics) model.
Brilliant sounds and looks like its brand new was it emotional as its a bit like your old one
the 1600 version of his old one
It really was emotional to see another machine that is almost like my WMA64
Very nice🤩
It was so nice to see one work again after so long
@@HooverA3060 I can imagine also I love the WMA drums
If you did get his machine could you get a replacement door like your old one
His one is a WMA66…not a WMA64 so I wouldn’t be getting it
I really hope you do find another wma64 in zircon silver it would be amazing
I first will need to find a way of getting it wrapped up and packaged like a brand new machine first so, it won't be anytime soon unless Charlie gets a new machine of his own
Lovely washer. Did it like seeing you? Or did it not like seeing you and go unbalanced?
I mean…watch the video and find out if it’s unbalanced or not
@@HooverA3060 i just finished watching. It did like you.
What's the load to this machine I can't seem to find it anywhere?
Hi, the capacity for these are 5.5kg. Later upgraded to 6kg
Brushed motor or quiet motor? Can't tell?
Brushed DC
When will flo come out again to play lol
She probably won’t be out for a very long time now.
Hi
Were there any real differences between this and the WMA74 and 76?
Yep WMA74 is 1400rpm, WMA76 is 1600rpm with a different motor
@@HooverA3060 Right but between those machines and the WMA64 and 66 Are there any differences in terms of design Like any generational differences
@@vectorcollector4893 if you’re referring to WMA6 vs WMA7, then there are differences. Programming is different for both ranges. WMA6X are 5.5kg as well as being titled “ULTIMA EXTRA”, also having a more rounder door trim. Whereas WMA7X are “ULTIMA 6kg” as they boast a 6kg capacity load and feature the squarer door you see on the machine in this video
@@HooverA3060 What are some of the programming differences between WMA6 and WMA7?
@@vectorcollector4893 no idea mate as I’ve never seen a WMA7X model in action
