  • Well well, I finally got to test that WMA58 that was sat in the warehouse. I was wanting to see how similar it was to my WMA64...found quite a few subtle differences in the spin sequence. I accidentally selected 'Reduced Creases' which results in the machine not performing the famous 'PowerStream' This machine is the Aquarius equivalent to the Ultima 6kg WMA74, the direct competitor to my WMA64 is the WMA48 which after watching videos of it, it spins exactly the way I remember. Enjoy!

I used to have a 2002 first edition I think that was when those models first came out and it lasted 9 years and it had automatic powerstream system

Oh wow! You had a First Edition model? Nice! The WMAs first arrived in June 2000, but 2002 was the 3rd generation of WMAs when Hotpoint were still good! Served you very well I see too. The PowerStream Wash System was one of the best features on the WMA-Range.

The machine doesn't Powerstream on the boilwash and Reduce Creases isn't available on the boilwash due to the light. And on the separate spin cycle it limits the speed to 1200rpm.

That explains it all with the Powerstream, pretty much like how my Miele doesn't do distribution tumbles on the 95ºc cycle...and it sounds more like 1300rpm as when my WMA64 would spin at 1300rpm it had the same pitch as this did...but that's kind of silly they limited the spin speed.

Just been given a Hotpoint Aquarius WMA50P. Not brand new, form a house clearance. Is it any good? What year was it made? Thanks.

Pretty good machine. Basic model but they were manufactured between 2003 and 2004. If you look on the inside of the door, you’ll have a sticker with the model number and serial number. I can date code it from the serial number
