Man this is the one of the best instructional videos I've ever seen. It's not fancy edited to make it look all professional! He hit record and even showed when something he tried didn't work. You don't get that with other more professional videos. I really appreciate the whole picture even when something didn't work and he tried something else. Great step by step instructions! I am about to go try this and I know it will work for my smelly mold ridden washing machine. Great Video Sir!!
Thanks so much Seab! Bingo! Everything you said is my ultimate goal to come through on video. Real-World Backwoods Ingenuity 😋
no dog thanks
You are welcome 👍 Thx!
@@wildwoodtop Thank you so much for this great video !!! I will save it for my husband to watch 😁
It's amazing that the manufacturer wouldn't provide consumers the maintenance required on their high end products...especially when it was engineered for great performance but inferior to aftermarket issues like mold/mildew, especially in a washer...How many people would do the cleaning like in this video before ditching the machine? Shame on the brand/manufacturers for hiding facts that consumers need...Like recalls for automobiles with issues!
We just bought a really nice LG washer and dryer. WiFi. 2 loads in and cloths smell great. You could all but see sewer gas coming out of the old one. Learning how to take the tub out through these video’s. The manufacturer’s should design a way to get to the outside of that tub to clean it. Planned obsolescence at it’s finest!!!!!!!!
If they do their service centers will go broke. 😃😃
The manufacturer wants you to buy a new one every 5 years! They make money that way
People are stupid. They will injure themselves and then sue the company.
This video was so helpful AND fun to watch. You had my husband and I giggling throughout and we are no longer dreading the task. You’re one of the good ones kind sir!
You are welcome! 🙂 Thanks for the inspirational comment 👍
I absolutely admired the descriptive detail in this video. It taught me a lot more about my washing machine that I needed to know especially as a new home owner how to take better care of my appliances so that they will last me longer without having to buy new ones. Thank you so much for sharing how to do this
You are welcome 👍 Thx!
One of the best instructional videos , literally cleaning out my washing machine as I make this comment … thank you saved me tons on money
You are welcome 👍 Saving money in this day in age is important 🤟Thanks for watching 🤗
Totally agree, the video was great and explained it just as I would need it to be.
How was the best way to take off the hex screw ? I’m not strong enough
@@paulinarendon8881 Are you referencing these 10 mm bolts 🤔 5:26
@@wildwoodtop thanks for the video, but what I would like to know is how often do you have to clean it like you did in the vid?
This video helped so much. We had a buildup of gunk inside, and I think that was causing it to have a hard time balancing. Cleaned everything and got it back together. Could not have done it without you!
Awesome DIY video. Thank you for taking the time to record this video for us Samsung washer owners who have been trying to figure out correct this problem...
You are welcome 👍
This is the best Samsung cleaning videos l have seen 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
Great video dude! This is my exact washer. I use a washer cleaning tablet every time the self clean light comes on. Haven’t had smells yet, but thought I would inform myself in the event I have to tear it down. Loved how thorough you were with showing each step!
Good deal Dude! 🤟
This is exactly what I needed! I know nothing about taking one of these things apart, and I'm confident this is something I can do successfully after watching this video! Thank you kind sir!
You are welcome 👍
Thank you! Great job. I love that you plugged the washer in to help you clean in it. We will be doing this to clean ours out soon. Mold, yuck!
You are welcome 👍
Favorite thing I’ve watched all week!
this is a very helpful video for someone like me whos a young adult and has no idea what they're doing LOL ! i'm gonna keep your video in mind if i need to clean the washer in future :]
You did a great job! I wish I had a brother like you . Your video is very easy to follow , thank you for sharing.
Thank you! You are welcome 👍
Thank you, your brother is lucky to have you awesome work and video Thank you
We are doing this Saturday. This is the Best video we found. Easy to follow. Wish us luck.
You are welcome 👍 Good luck 🤗 Thanks for watching 🤟
I'm definitely cleaning my washer like this. I was afraid to take it apart but you made it easy. Thank you!!!
You are welcome! 🙂
Thanks for the great video, my wife wants to clean our washing machine and found your video very informative! Keep up the good work!!
You are welcome 👍 Thx
I gotta say what a very great video you did hear. Very calm and relaxing how you worked on this. I just did mine today and couldn't believe how disgusting it was in side. Thank you for the great tutorial!
You are welcome 👍
Good video! Only note I would make, is to re-install the bolt for the agitator a few threads and then you can lift it right out using the bolt instead of prying it out.
Thank you, thank you, thank you! I seriously thought I was going to have to hire somebody to clean out the washing machine and pay a couple hundred dollars doing it… I have a project this coming week now that I feel confident doing thanks to this video!
You are welcome 👍As long as everything comes apart without difficulty it's a piece of cake 😉
Aww thanks for this video this is what I have been looking for long, now I can wash my machine.
You are welcome 👍
I just want to thank you so much for doing this! You just save me from buying a new washing machine!
You are welcome 👍 Good luck 🤗 Thanks for watching 🤟
I’d like to second this!! My Samsung is 2 years old and after a year it started leaving literal dirt and grime on all my clothes that I stopped using it for about six months now. Today I decided to try to take it apart after countless attempts of cleaning it with vinegar, baking soda , and self cleaning cycles. I’m trying this as my last resort. Best video I’ve seen out of many on Samsungs that have mold and dirt not too long after being purchased ( with weekly maintenance).
You sir are a Legend. Great video for a new dad
Thanks for making this video. Great camera work and love your sense of humor. I've got 2 washing machines to clean in the near future.... :)
You are welcome 👍Thanks for watching 🤟
Why are we calling it a “she”? Hahaha
Thanks So Much!!! I have to do this NOW!!! I can’t tell you how much I appreciate this video!!!
You are welcome 👍
EGGSCELLENT video! Impressively well-done. 👏🏼👏🏼
You are welcome 👍 Thx!
Great video, now I can clean my POS!
I wish you were my brother 😂 I'm pretty sure this needs to be done to mine. The repair man came today and said everything was fine. Ran a cleaning cycle after he left and there was so much gunk in the bottom of the machine!!! Ugh...
Thank you brother!!! I was looking for directions to do this.
I love the commentary while he’s doing it 👍
Oh my gosh!! Thank you so much for posting and sharing your video. I have always been looking on how to deep clean this type of washing machine and was not successful. I also have the washing machine the same brand the same model and now I know where is the foul smell and the gunk coming from no matter how I try to do the self clean the machine. I will ask my husband to do it. Thank you and bless you.
You are welcome 👍
You saved my life with this video. I am lucky to have found this so thank you!!!!
You are welcome 👍
Great video. I learned so much from this. We have one of these washers and this mold and gunk will drive you crazy.
You are welcome 👍
Fantastic job. Made it look so easy. Thanks!
Thank You! ✌
I have the same unit and after three years of use it started to have a bit of a stink to it as well. I now know what next Saturday hold in store for me. Thanks for the education

Thank you so much! This was exactly what I was looking for!

Good as new! You did a great job cleaning it!
You are welcome 👍 Thx!
Thanks for the video!
You are welcome 👍
The best instructor
You are welcome 👍 Thx!
Use a screwdriver to pick up the agitator plate from the center not from the sides. I had consistently been using the Affresh tablets and stopped using fabric softener. The thing is when I did take a look at the drum is was basically squeaky clean already so…if you’re consistently doing the cleaning tablets you could probably skip this. Though I really appreciate how instructive this video is.
good as new. i also have the washing machine. Never had an issue 😊
Awesome work my guy!!!!!
You are welcome 👍 Thx!
This is so encouraging to see that my washer can be taken apart. I made the mistake of washing some filthy muddy clothes in there recently and now I’m contending with residual sand. I’ve run 2 clean cycles (one with bleach to get rid of any potential bacteria) but still see evidence of sand. I know it can be damaging to the washer and clog up the drain pipe. Is it worth pulling the whole washer apart to rid it of the sand, or just the bottom cover and vacuum what I can see?
Make sure it's good and dry then remove the cover and vacuum (wet sand will not vacuum very well) this would give you a visual of how much is actually in the bottom. However each time you do a load of wash the sand would be diluted in the water and eventually exit via drain cycle (sand mixed with water shouldn't clog your plumbing system)
Hi. I'm watching this video in 2023. I'm going to attempt to fix my own washing machine following your advice. Thank you for sharing this with us.🙂👋🏽👨🏽⚕️
You are welcome 👍
Good job, I just bought cleaning tablets that you can put clean cycle on and it is supposed to do the same thing without taking it apart. I still love taking everything apart myself but will try the tablets
You sir, are a great American and a great brother.
Thanks for the inspirational comment 👍
This was entertaining they guy seems to have a great spirit
Spirit in check! 👍 Thanks for the inspirational comment 🤗
Thanks for the guidance step by step. Much appreciated
You are welcome 👍
Thanks for the video. I recently had to do this to my old Samsung due to moldy flakes getting in our laundry. You wouldn’t believe the amount of filth in that thing. I can live with it if nasty buildup is just an inherent problem with top-load washers, but you’d think the manufacturer could at least make these easier to take apart so we can clean them.
I feel your pain! They should have rinse Jets between the wash drum and the outer Barrel that are activated during rinse cycle to solve this problem 🙂
Uugh, and don't forget the detergent dispenser/holder. Can't take it out without nearly prying your own fingers off your hand!
Thank you for the education! It was very helpful!
You are welcome 👍
Amazing video!!!
Great job awesome video I had to replace my transmission it was good but the threads for the agitator were in very bad shape and wouldn't hold the plastic. On my model, you couldn't replace the shaft it was built to replace the whole thing dang engineers! Thanks for the share hadden had any odor problems since. I use dishwasher machine gel to maintain it works well too.
That dog is SOOO CUTEEEE❤!!!
Thank you 😊
Thanks man, this is really informative.
You are welcome 👍
Thank you will be doing this to mine if the self clean doesn’t work out!!! 🙏🏼🙏🏼
You are welcome 👍
Once a month run it normal/clean cycle no clothes. Put oxi powder + a 1/2 cup of citric acid powder food grade it will keep it clean.
QUESTION: I have a Samsung Washing Machine with a Self Clean feature. It was starting to have grains of sand type material after the Self Cleaning feature was used. It didn't do that in the past. I then bought Affresh, and it achieved larger results. There were large brown strings of scum for several times in a row when using the Self Cleaning feature with Affresh. So, I thought progress was being made. But, after about five uses of Affresh with the Self Clean, there was always the virtually identical result of having a small amount of residue similar to pieces of sand in the machine. It was like this even without using Affresh and only using the Self Clean. It seems like there is nothing that can be done at this point. Every time the machine is used, there are a tiny amount of particles of materials similar to tiny pieces of sand. What can be done to fix this problem?
Wished I could help Mike but I haven't ran into any sand situations and I'm not familiar with Affresh. Personally I didn't try any self cleaning procedures due to my brother conveying he couldn't get rid of the smell so I went full-bore with the cleaning as depicted in the video
Thank you man! Super helpful!
You are welcome 👍
Great job
FANTASTICO Sr.
You are welcome! 👍 Thank 🙂
I think my Samsung washer almost same as this one ,I have tried many times to get it out but can’t get it,look like my washer have different screws,I will try it again .😊
wow!very good dady..
You're welcome mama 😋
Nice! Great video!
Thank You 👍
Great video very informative. Thank you for your video it'll save me from buying a new washer. Watching from Sydney Australia
Awesome sauce Mate 👍
great help. thank you so much for this video.
You are welcome 👍
Excellent video! Made disassembling and cleaning my washing machine easy. Any suggestions for preventing build up from accumulating again?
Usually a deep clean cycle every month will keep your washer clean. However liquid detergents are known for clinging to the wash tub/barrel creating substantial build up overtime which will lead to an unpleasant odor. Powder detergent might be a better option (They should have rinse Jets between the wash drum and the outer Barrel that are activated during rinse cycle to solve this problem 🙂
I've fixed mold smell by using some hospital grade detergent to wash my towels on highest possible temperature (good towels that won't shrink on almost boiling point water temp).
Wow! you made the task look even fun!!!!! Thank you for this video. I've seen quite a lot of videos, and yours it's so nicely taught. So, you just hit spin to drain the stinky dirty water after you clean the bottom?
Thank you for the nice comment Feel free to stop by sometime for some milk and cookies 😊 with this particular model if there's water in the drum when you turn it on and push start it automatically drains (make sure you hold the lid if you have it as shown in the video 8:55
Very nice video 👌
Great Video!!!
Thx Debbie 😊
This video is very helpful. Saving it for the weekend. New friend here
Awesome sauce! Thanks for watching ✌
Awesome video! Do you think I could wash and drain the interior, under the drum, inside the house and clean the drum outside? I am not sure what the cons of not taking the whole washer outside would be besides the possibility of a mess. Thanks!!
Absolutely! Keep the washer hooked up as normal and clean the drum outside Then scrub and clean the interior with your favorite cleaning solution Reinstall drum barrel Then run a wash cycle without clothes and you'll be good to go 👍
Awesome video need to do this to mine, very informative how to. Thank you and the laughter I got from from your comment, “Why is it female…okay that’s why it smells” 🤣🤣
lol glad you got a kick out of that - She cleans up real nice! lol
Very helpful video thank you Sir.
You are welcome 👍
good job!
I have a little dog that looks exactly like yours.❤
Havent finished the video but doggo in the washer gets an automatic up vote 😂
lol cherrypie 😋
How often should you do this type of deep cleaning? Are there certain washer brands that have this problem more than others?
This type of in-depth cleaning is performed only when all else fails. meaning under normal conditions you would do a deep clean after 30 loads of wash (cleaning instructions can be found in your manual) usually a deep clean cycle every month will keep your washer clean and sparkling fresh. however liquid detergents are known for clinging to the wash tub/ barrel drum creating substantial build up overtime which will lead to an unpleasant odor..Hope this helps! (bottom line if you cannot get rid of the odor/ mold smell this type of cleaning presented in this video is the solution! Note: as far as other brands being better than the other. If it's a drum style washer they're all going to have similar issue of unpleasant odors Even front loaders.
I just got one of these a couple months ago and I’m putting it through the cleaning cycle. I hope I never have a mold problem if I continue to do that, I’m also using the afresh pods. Please lmk if I do indeed have to ever deep clean, if I never get any bad smells.
Awesome video! You made me laugh! But totally helped me out thanks!
You are welcome 👍 Thx!
Very good video. I have the same washer. Plan on doing that to mine.
does your machine have an odor you can't get rid of through standard cleaning?
@@wildwoodtop no it does not. But, it's only 7 months old. So I'm sure that even when I use the self clean cycle it will eventually over time get that mildew smell.
Absolutely James Especially if you're using liquid detergent it slowly builds up. It's been 5 months since the cleaning and there is no door whatsoever. Cheers!
Man, you're awesome
😲 Thx Man 😋
Awesome tutorial! I figured this needs to be done on mine before it starts to stink. Something tells me the self-clean cycle doesn't flush out all debris.
Preventive maintenance is always good practice 👍
Great video!👍. What did you press to drain after cleaning? I miss that detail.
If you have the same machine the fact that there is water already in the tub from cleaning and scrubbing when you start the unit it should automatically go into drain cycle
Omg; it’s a very great video. I have a same washer. But I don’t think I can do this cleaning like you. I wish I can hire you in CA here :)
Thanks for the offer to visit Cali 🤗
