HD Cameras existed (35mm film cameras, used since the 40s have a quality equivalent to 6K resolution). the problem was that no TV could support that quality, so it was kinda useless. You can see a lot of 80s-70s footage in 4k. Search the any of this shows: Led Zeppelin Madison Square garden 1973, Elvis Presley Las Vegas 1970, Wham- Last Christmas (4k remaster), you'll see. If Motley still owns this master tape and was filmed with a decent camera (probably, because this was an important big festival), pretty sure they could release it in an amazing quality.

That’s also a sign of poorly set gain structure. In the monitor guys defence though, it was a festival & things like this are set mainly for the headline act with a little bit of a retune allowed for the opening acts. These days of course with digital desks one would record all settings & let each bands FOH or foldback guy set his own, if they have one.
We were kids at this concert! I was 13 years old. I loved Crüe like I loved hustler magazine. We walked 14 miles through farms and backroads even on the freeway. Thank God for those experiences. Thanks for the post✌️

I never liked that glam crap, but the only Mötley Crüe I like is the first one. It's actually pretty punk sounding. I'm completely over Rape Zeppelin now. They were terrible people.

Me too! Motley Crue was totally fucking killer that day!!!! They totally ruled that day. The soundman kind of gave them kind of a dry mix especially on the vocals, but who cares. They were wicked every night in those days. I always loved Motley Crue. But the first three albums were my favorite. The "Shout At The Devil" tour was the best ever..
Out of fairness, it was 110 dry heat that day, they played second after Quiet Riot, peak heat of the day. De-tuning the guitars, however, Vince cant hear, and the intro, he is singing in the wrong key. He catches up in the chorus. (I was 21 back then, and I thought Vince and Tommy were women at first lmao) They were just breaking then
Is it me or was the US festival the last true big music fest we have seen in the states outside of the first lollapalooza? Man their were a lot of great bands that played this without a particular genre being represented although Hard rock and Glam Metal were on the way up and well represented at US.
Saw them Reunion Arena, Dallas Texas. 1980 something. Motley Crew opened for Ozzy and Randy. The Oz was recovering from some nasty stomach Injections. No longer given access to bats he had to resort to raw liver. Unforgettable Time!

Live performance does bands such as Motley Crue no favors at all, cause aside from Mick's guitar playing Nikki's writing skills, the rest are there cause of their image. They look the part. I like Motley Crue as far as studio album, but I'd be a mad motherfucker if I paid all that money for tickets and they sounded as shitty as all their live shit sounds. I mean it's not as if it's odd time, and fast shit. It's basic rock n roll. How do they fuck that up?
