Something else the NBA needs to change is stop having the Owners holding the trophy first before the players. Absolutely nobody wants to see Owners hold the trophy before the players. Make it like European Football where the players gather around the trophy and lift it together while celebrating. Get everyone else away from that trophy except the players.

You don't have to look that far to Europe, just look at Hockey, the Captain is the one that lifts the Stanley Cup when they win

I like the idea of engraving all of the previous championship teams on the bottom of the trophy. Similar to how the NHL Stanley Cup is designed.

Magic and Bird saved the League. Huge honor for the trophies to be named after them.
Boston and Lakers made Basketball during the 60’s, NBA went down at 70’s due to drug issues and fights, Magic and Bird saved the League from Bankruptcy, Jordan made the NBA more to the world. Legends from different era made influences to other players and as time passed by more legends will come.
I respect it, I like how they acknowledging both the eastern and western champions with new mvp trophies I feel like players will play even harder to try and win that award just something to add to their trophy case

Really like it. The engraved base is beautiful. However I prefer the bottom portion of the previous trophy. Its classic, timeless and royal, while the updated one looks a bit messy and throws off the flow of the trophy
i agree. i also don't quite like the more literal approach to the net silhouette on the body. it made it kinda less classy but overall still quite nice.

Love the engraving of the previous champions on the bottom base & eventual champions on the second one. Plus the net being more defined is a really nice touch.
Love adding the names of the champions, I don't really care about the lines throughout to make it look more like a net and ball, but adding the names makes it feel more like the Stanley Cup which is by far the best trophy in all of sports

I like the conference finals mvp awards. Especially that its Magic and Bird because they completely hands down saved the NBA. Im fine with the new Finals Trophy. But its lowkey copying the Stanley Cup.

The FMVP was introduced in 1969, so it kinda makes sense that it should be named after Bill Russell, because at his time during Boston Celtics dynasty, he should be a 10 time FMVP.

Not everyone gets a trophy, but it's likely the same player will get the conference and finals mvp as in the NBA it usually goes to the best player in the series. So a bit redundant. Unnecessary in my opinion

I wish they did more to differentiate the conference MVP trophies. Should be a bit more inclination that they represent Larry and Magic or at the very least have some sort of design elements that show you its a conference MVP. Could have made them into silhouettes of Larry and Magic or at least had their silhouettes on the trophy. They just look like Finals MVP trophies.

Having the previous champions’ logos or name plaques engraved on the trophy would be a great touch. Also having the previous season’s champion present the trophy to the winner alongside the commissioner would be a great touch for the ceremony

Also, little known fact, NBA Hall of Fame keeps the old Finals trophies from previous winners in a vault. After a new team wins, they discard one from the vault to make room.
