This reminds me of the quote "hardwork beats talent, when talent doesn't work hard"
Love that quote
Wait didn't you apply to promys
This is just what I needed at this time. Those people that are deemed "lucky" actually found a way to manage their time to improve themselves in both IQ and EQ, as well as their hard and soft abilities. This is the reason why many people (even during layoffs) survive at their places and/or go to better ones. Money does not come naturally. It's all about their commitment to strengthening their ability. This is definitely something I learned today.
Yes, you’re exactly right and I’m so happy to hear my video was helpful. There is luck to it though, and there’s a lot of failure that people don’t show before they succeed. You’ll be great! Rooting for you. Also, I discuss this a bit more in this Short: czcams.com/users/shorts8p1Xmbuwg_w?feature=share
Thank you, you're very inspirational. This vid made me realize I do waste a lot of time where I could get things done
I’m so glad my video was helpful to you :) thanks for your kind words!
I think smartness is defined as,
a person who can think fast and see different from others.
by the way, Amy is the best student with impeccable achievements I have ever seen on CZcams. her videos are really informative and helpful when compared to other education channels.
I cant tell you how much i love your content ❤️❤️❤️
It hard to know the extent of how smart you are and the reason for it. Because working hard makes you smarter. So it is hard to tell the difference if being smart made you succeed or not. Also being smart makes working harder easier because being smart makes it easier to understand and engage yourself in what you learn. If it is hard to engage yourself it is more likely you zone out. It is a chicken and egg problem.
I agree! I also think that it's smart to want to work hard and put in the effort in the first place. People have their different definitions of smart too, which is interesting. I agree completely with your comment, and "chicken and egg" is a great way to put it.
I think it is possible to be smart but it takes a certain amount of discipline and hardwork to become that.
By the way very informative video. 😁👍🏻
Yes, I agree, Dan! And by just wanting to improve, that is also "smart" and will also make someone even smarter! Thanks so much for watching and commenting :)
People like you really inspire me 🙏
I too feel sometimes like why is life so hard... Why are the cards not in my favour... When you see your pals or other people around you feel like why are they so lucky ... Why don't good things not happen with me... But watching your video made me feel better
Ah I’m so so happy to read your comment. Yes, we don’t know what’s going on behind the scenes and visual “success” doesn’t mean so much as the journey the get there. Failures make successes and you’ll be more resilient :)
Regardless of the underlying reasons, you most definitely are a rare genius.
Appreciate that :) wish you well!
best channel ive ever found in last few months! wish you success in ur life :) ~best, a senior student in the admissions process 🙃
Aw yay I’m so happy to hear that my videos have been helpful to you! Thank you and wishing you the best as well! 😀
I love your Videos!
I just love how you prioritize a balanced lifestyle (sleep, watching TV), but nevertheless give great advise on how to achieve your goals
I think it's also great you give advice based on your knowledge and experiences and not just on some theories you read somewhere ( a lot of yters give "science-based"-tips that are great isolated, but they just mix them up and have never actually tried them before)
Your advice just feels genuine, honest and actually helpful
I appreciate your kind words a lot! Sometimes I worry I'm not being "scientific" enough and I do some research, so your comment reassures me that my approach of using my personal experience is likely even more valuable! :) Please feel free to let me know what you'd like to see!
@@wamyy5 These scientific tips might be good in theory, but they are often very abstract and not easy to apply, so keep your current content going!
I actually enjoy all your videos, so I just wanna see more of that:)
@@samsunggalaxya1323 Yay! Always super happy to receive your feedback so I can do better for you all :)
This means a lot, thanks 🙏
Thanks for watching! Glad it was helpful :)
There was a book that came out many years ago titled "Emotional Intelligence". The thesis of the book is that traits like resilience, persistence, and selflessness are better than IQ at determining success. I believe that because I have come across people with high IQ's that were abject failures. There was a boxer named Bobby Cyxz who had an IQ of 140. I think he got as high as fifth in the world, but I have to question the wisdom of a man with that high an IQ choosing to box.
pro tip. IQ doesn't mean anything.
??? He just finds it fun
can you pls do a video on managing time even when u dont have a lot cus although i try to do homework in between lessons,i still have a lot at the end of the day + i have extracurriculars 4 out of 5 school days every week and when i reach home i only have 2-4 hours to maintain a relatively healthy sleep schedule + piano practice + doing sports since I've been really tired and hopefully sports can help improve my mood and things like that. also my exams are coming up so i have to study for those. my schedule is really packed and i only have a relatively free day on sunday. its really hard to balance all of this and i haven't been practicing piano. i need a lot of help. 😭😭😭

Hi from dubai. Thanks for great inspiration video
Hi! Wow, Dubai sounds so cool. Thank you for watching and I'm glad it was inspirational :)
GREAT MESSAGE keep doing these lesson vids pls!!
i hope u dont get those migranes anymore, my life seems such easier now
Thanks for the constant support! And thank you for the encouragement to make more "lesson" videos. I enjoy these so much too :) I still get migraines from time to time but with less frequency, which is good. You got migraines before too?
@@wamyy5 luckily I have never gotten migraines
I watch all your videos but I still get c’s on my math tests please make a video how to be a math superstar.
Already made a vid on this!
I've spent around 12-13 years of my life working on improving my math skills and there hasn't been one day where I got better scores in math than anyone else and I see my peers improving in math overnight. So what is the point in trying so hard and sacrificing everything in my life when it doesn't pay off even after so long ?
Sorry to hear! Have you tried this video? Sometimes the right approach is the only thing that’s missing! czcams.com/video/pByDJDUEbUA/video.htmlsi=nQpBLn8pfY8deQGj
Please make a video about this.
So mature at this early age!
Thank you! I try to share what may be helpful :)
You and Ann Makosinki should do lunch. Listen to her Ted talk. Remarkable like yourself.
is caltech bell-curved?
if caltech classes were hard for you, someone who had mathematical training before college, how were classes for someone less experienced than you? you also were obviously very successful at the end, so for an avergage student are psets just straight up impossible?
Caltech has very high standards for admissions, only letting in those who they think can survive the curriculum. That being said, some students don’t have as strong of math background and they are placed in a different math course from the core curriculum during freshmen year. Hope this helps!
Hi Amy I would like to ask you a question on study. Do you believe there is a really good way to study that if someone who has same condition (whether habit, gifts or anything )with other people uses it he will literally pass others a lot (a extreme example could be the stuff he learnt in one year is more than the stuff others learnt in three or even more years. It is more like a idea that you can find all over your life. Like people always say if you want to get more trees chopped you better get a really really sharp axe. Do you believe you can find this extremely sharp axe(in another word best) on study? Or there has never been such thing like that for students doing their study. I start to think about this question because I saw a story shared on internet. That guy fell into the trap finding the sharpest axes and finally realized that it was just a waste of time. He threw a conclusion both from his own experience and the fact that even though there has been so many students and genius in earth but school, professor and even those expert in one field did not really mention this topic a lot.
Last part I want to mention is that even though there are good study ways that you can find on internet, but it turns out that they are literally the same thing-people build “function ” with a lot of eg and correct the function they come up with in that topic; finally they use this function to solve the questions they never met before.
Hmm interesting question. Could you please share the story? I would be interested to read it to better understand what you’re asking. Also, what do you mean by “function”?
@@wamyy5 Huhh actually it is a really long long story and the way of study is just a part of that story . Basically in the study topic he just meant that students who used to fall behind others but start to catch them sometimes fall into the trap of finding the best way for study so they may catch them in a ealier time or even surpass them. Or you could say someone who is at a top school with great pride suddenly is not that shiny any more. He tried his best to study , stay up late and do extra work. But because his classmates work just as hard as him, he still can not be the best student in his class. Those two kinds of people look for ways to achieve their goals (be the best student or compensate what they missed). But it turns out this is just a naive wish. In his story he believed that the best way of study and the worst way of study only have slightly difference on the productivity.
@@wamyy5 It is literally a function but definetly a more complex one. We learnt simple functions in the early age so when we have a number we put that into the fuction so we could know the output. It is a skill or I should say the main part of study(in test we use our own, more complexed function to get a output from the question which is the input in that case. and usually the student who has the best "function" could deal most questions associated with that fast and accurate)
@@wamyy5 I would like to hear how you consider about that since you have been graduated from college and you definetly saw so many excellent and gifted people (also yourself as a prototype )
luckily I'm super smart so I don't have these problems.

Hi AMy Don't you think that both of your parents are electrical engineers? You probably inherited smarts from them
Hi! Thanks for your comment. I'm not denying that I have some smarts but it's probably in the average range. It's more of hard work and their STEM schooling that allowed them to become electrical engineers. I don't think you have to be naturally smart to become an engineer!
very sad high school and university experience. All you did was grind more than others. That is not smart. Smart is when you are on a level playing field and trying to solve a problem. You probably put in 100 extra hours of studying compared to the next person. That is why these grinders get far but not the top.
I hope you're a troll account, but I suppose not considering you joined in 2013. You're sad & narcissistic lol.
Hey man, couldn't help but to kindly disagree with your comment on one of my favorite content creators on this platform. Intelligence is not just about being born with certain innate abilities or having a level playing field. It's also about how you choose to make use of your resources and to overcome obstacles.
I'm sure you're also a fan on Einstein. He had to refine his experimental work for hours and hours on end to make his amazing discoveries.
Also, grinding can be a sign of intelligence. It shows dedication discipline, and resilience. Yeah, some people may have a natural aptitude for certain subjects, but that doesn't mean they're automatically smarter than a person who has to work harder to understand the material.
