I like the casting choice. I will add I would like to see in the future a 3d animated Mortal Kombat movie like what they did with the Super Mario movie.
You keep messing up the Sub-Zero brothers, Bi-Han is the older brother, the same as in the first movie.
Kano must of died in the movie, because Sonia got his mark. And the only way that dragon mark could switch to another person is if they were killed by them? So I don't think Kano can come back and say see you didn't really kill me

There is no great way to do anything for the sequel. The 1st was too bad and all over the place, & the sequel seems to be as well focusing more on Edenia & Outworld instead of the tournament. The casting is overall pretty mediocre to bad except a few actors. The fight scenes suck, mostly due to the actors they choose but also the production crew isn't good. I can't understand how any ppl actually like that movie. They would be much better off rebooting the 2021 movie with a great cast of martial artists & action stars but we aren't getting that. We get the likes of

Seems like they are according to the audition leaks. Only thing different though is apparently Shao Kahn kills Sindel along with Jerrod and he turns Sindel into a revenant and hurts her to get Kitana to tell him information she won't give.
I hope they get a bigger budget!! Cause the last movie was lacking in visuals in regards to the locations/backgrounds.
Sounds exciting though not sure about the Sindel and Quan-Chi casting but we'll see what happens. That Shao Kahn casting is perfect, dude is huge as hell and looks just like him.
At least wait for the make up/costumes and trailer. When I've fist seen Josh Lawson at the table read, I thought "who picked this effing dude?"....aand he was the absolute perfection as Kano
Yeah that's true, though Josh to be fair look and sounded the part I figured he'd do a decent job at least but he killed it and did great. Quan-Chi actor I've seen some clips he has this creepy vibe so I think he'll do well, the Sindel chick I have no idea and never heard of her, we'll see how she does.

I like all the castings, besides Karl Urban's Johnny Cage. I think he's a great actor but I'm not sure if he'll be a great Johnny. I do think other characters will make it in as Kameos like a Baraka or maybe even Drahmin and Moloch since Quan Chi is in here.

This is good. They are doing a good job of not shoving in too many characters. I hope they avoid killing off certain characters for a reaction.

@@KazeShikamaru With all due respect, what did you like about that movie? Because I & many others find that easily the worst live action adaptation of MK & possibly one of the worst movies of all time, it's actually on my worst movies I've ever seen & I've seen some bad ones. This movie made me appreciate some films that I considered bad before & I'm not even joking.
These are the few positives I will give about the movie
1)Jokes. Easily the best part of the film with Kano being the leader of that ring. Scenes like the dinner one & the leg sweep scene were done very well. This isn't why I came to watch MK so this being the best thing about the movie is a negative in itself.
2) Sub Zeros ice visuals were done really well, even though Sub Zero himself wasn't THAT good. He only had a menacing presence but lacked actual kharacter showing his true fighting abilities. He was basically a slasher villain with Cryomancer abilities but less compelling somehow. Sad because Joe Taslim is a great actor and martial artist and they wasted him, Max Huang & Lewis Tan badly.
That's relatively it. Some of the sets were okay, others were bland & bad. Costumes & CGI a mixed bag as well. The bad things about the movie are
- Fight scenes SUCKED. This is not debatable. When I say the fight scenes suck, I'm comparing them to the real best martial arts fights of all time because the director promised they were the best ever on screen & they shouldn't even be mentioned in the same breath as martial arts hardly. The director should actually be able to get sued on that statement, that's how bad they were in comparison.
- The casting & acting sucked, aside from Joe Taslim, Max Huang, Josh Lawson & Hiroyuki Sanada
- The story sucked
- arcana was stupidly done
- Coleslaw being the main Kharacter aka the "Alice" from Resident Evil of MK SUCKED
- The Kharacters sucked & had little to no development
-Scorpion/Sub Zero dynamic was oversold in previews & underdone & not done well in the movie
- killing too many Kharacters sucked, especially considering some like Mileena could be swapped with Sareena & made more sense for the movie. Also, Reptile should have been Smoke (Ray Park), Goro & Reiko should have been Human Drahmin (Glenn Jacobs) & Human Moloch (Nathan Jones) & Sisi Stringer should be Nitara, not Mileena.
- The score sucked
- Switching up a lot of, & even worse omitting important lore sucked
The negatiges far outweigh the positives & I know many more ppl agree with me than others think because I truly think half of the ppl that watched didn't like the movie & I have watched 130+ reviews on it.
@@artofmartialcinemaamc5334 With hoe bad annihilation was it is easy people are acting like that. The fights were good and it felt nice to see them do their own thing. I liked most of the acting outside of Raiden. I feel the hatred for Cole Young is over lown as he was just okay and didn't get in the way too much. I thought the story told was fine and I feel we got a good setup for the sequel. It did the job. It isn't perfect but it was really solid film. I gave it an 8 at the time.
Except for Cole. Kill him off right in the first scene like they did Johnny Cage in Annihilation.
I remember back in like 2018-19 making a Mortal Kombat fan cast listing with every single fighter and put Martyn Ford as Shao Kahn.

Definitely got a lot of confidence in this film. Casting is perfect and the writing seems excellent as well with it following the lore and not nonsense retcons (like Sindel's for example). Can't wait for this movie.

Still though, I rather wait and see if NRS has truly learned their lesson with the retcon not appearing in onslaught or Mk 1, with NRS either saying Sindel was just still brainwashed in Aftermath or if they're not following Aftermath so it never happened at all. Honestly I'm still confused if Aftermath is even cannon cause why is Shang Tsung back already (like it wasn't gonna stick but still) after Liu erased him if forever.
There's no hope. The 1st one sucked & they're skipping too many beats & trying to mash everything in a trilogy, when really MK should be told similar to Transformers & budget wise too. MK should be around 5 movies & 12 or so TV series to really do it properly, & also have a director like Issac Florentine or Gareth Evans or Jonathan Trooper directing MK instead of a commerical director would help.
The kasting choices are also not good overall as well. Very few martial artists I'm hearing being kast which means the fights, which are the main attraction to the majority of the MK audience, will suck again. This franchise is doomed & they need to pull the plug on it while they can & quickly reboot it the right way with ACTUAL GOOD KASTING
@@bentramer4281 They seem to be recasting Mileena considering how to actress who played her in the last movie said no to returning (plus with how Kitana is played by someone else, it seems like this will be happening), I do agree the Johnny Cage actor is kinda weird, but considering how perfect the other casting is and how they want to redeem themselves from the last movie, I'm sure there's a good reason they casted him (heck, everybody back then hated when Michael Keaton was casted as Batman, and he ended up blowing everybody way, so it wouldn't be the first time strange casting could pay off). They did that in Mk 3 and annihilation as well, plus Sindel never looked old to begin with (all they would need is just give her a wig or dye her hair to match her look from the games). Honestly all Kano 's missing is the eyelaser (I still have no idea why they didn't give him that), cause Kano was honestly one of the best parts from the film.
Can't wait to see the leak set photos and stuff like that. I know many say that the first film sucks, but to me I liked it. It's entertaining, if the sequel actually delivers holy heck.

Nah the 1st movie was insanely bad. Like I can't believe how bad it was & even more shocking that many more ppl agreed with me than I thought. The action, story, casting, most of the sets & CGI Goro & Reptile sucked. There wasn't much consistently good in that movie except Kano & some of the jokes, which is not why I came to see MK. We deserve much better than that travesty of an excuse of a martial arts movie, nevermind a MK one in 2021 & it's so called sequel.

The casting for both movies has been great. They just need to retcon the arcana aspect from the first one.
What if they fix Lewis Tan‘s character by making Cole Young Kenshi? Hence the similarity of Kenshi‘s face model in the MK1 game.
Wouldn’t be hard to pull that off. Cole could lose his sight in a fight, as his arcana develops and he gets telekinesis in order to compensate his lost vision.
I don’t think fans wouldn’t accept him to be Kenshi if we get Lewis Tan playing an OG character. The movie connection to Scorpion could still be kept, as Scorpion had a connection to Kenshi‘s son Takeda. Better minor changes than Cole Young only being Cole…
I wish that the one playing Kitana, we would see Mileena as well. With Shao Khan, Sindel and Kitana in, would be nice to see Mileena and how she got her teeth.

To those in doubt, look at it from this perspective. The studio had little faith in this, so they gave it a decent budget to work with. Now when they see the reception it got, surprise them.

Martyn Ford definitely has the physique for Shao Kahn, and Ana Thu Nguyen will make a good Sindel. Idk how I feel about the other two as Jerrod and especially Quan Chi.

That's great that they're picking actors that look the part. I just hope they all can ACT. I was pleasantly surprised on the first part that the only "bland" actor was lewis tan (sorry just my opinion). Reiko wasn't that great either, but he was just poorly written. Sad to see that Kabal won't be coming back, he definitely needed more screen time.

They should take there time with this movie, and make it better than the first one. Or better than O.G MK2 from the 90s, because we need a well polished movie to watch instead of what we got. Even though the first one came out during the covid season. So I have faith this one would be better than the first one, so we would have to wait and see.

I hope they know what they're doing. It really needs to be 2.5 hours long and actually stick to the storyline . My only concerns can the cast they have now. Can they do enough martial arts? If I was going to knock mortal Kombat movies out of the park. I know the budget is not big enough. But you have to make it worth the wild. Make MK2 like mk 95 movie. But carry the storyline into a 3rd or 4th movie. Also have a little longer fighting scenes not two punches and fatality.
I get edenians age slower and that they might age her up with effects or makeup but Sindel literally looks the same age as Kitana lol.

Dewey Crowe from Justified is playing Quan Chi? Who the heck made that casting decision? I understand they can't afford Ralph Fiennes for a Mortal Kombat movie, but they seriously can't do any better than Dewey Crowe? Dewey Crowe is a short man and his voice definitely will not come close to how he sounds in the games.

All I know is they need to make this movie longer. A franchise as historic as mortal kombat needs to have time to at least get into a little more background and for sure make the fights longer.

When I was but a young Mortal Kombat fan, back in 1997, I was so hyped to see Mortal Kombat Annihilation.
I had enjoyed the original film as a kid and was stoked to hear that Shao Kahn and animalities would be in this new movie.
Lets just say, that I was more than a little disappointed at the scrawny looking Shao Kahn with an oversized helmet and the atrocious CGI used for the animalities.
Today I see this casting news and I have to agree with you. They nailed it this time.
I can only imagine the casting directors reaction to his photo. "This is the one."
This guy is what I had imagined Shao Kahn to look like in real life.
A man so huge, he obviously consumed all the roids in Outworld, and has now set his sights on the entirety of Earthrealms protein.
Once he is able to merge the realms, not even the Elder Gym Bros can stop him.
Also I think the casting for Quan Chi is top notch too! Take the glasses off and give him a bald head with some makeup! His facial/head structure works for the character.
