  • In today's vlog I test out a new fin which I hope will help keep my longboard stable in larger surf. I typically struggle a bit with my FCS 9" pivot so I'm looking for alternatives. Enjoy!

Just discovered your videos and have already learned so much! I live in Philadelphia but I make the drive to various Jersey Shore points depending on conditions every chance I get. I would be great to surf together and swap fins in larger surf to feel the difference in board performance. I was trying to figure out how to PM you to give you my contact information but I can't figure it out. Do you know how to send a PM on youtube?

Hey Brian_ me again from France _ for the bigger wave__ I go with the FCS Fat BOY 9,5_ I seem to give more agility and flex in the biggest drop with my 9,2 Scott Anderson longboard_
I usually ride it with a 9 Captain Fin on smaller waves
    Love your videos bud

Oh sweet! I've never tried that fin. Yea some extra flex and a thinner fin seems to help quite a bit on the larger faster waves. I'm currently in the process of reviewing another fin that seems to work well on the bigger waves as well

A 10.5 4A style fin would be a good starting point for a fin arsenal. About 80% of fin needs could be covered with a pivot fin, and a 4A. I am also a fan of fins like the davenport club or the DN long rake style fins.

there are several fins i have/use. the Tyler Warren Pivot 10.25 is certainly the largest of them...its a great fin however I really don't use that often as i prefer my Joel Tudor 9.125 and the midlength for larger steeper waves.

I’ve started using a 10.75” experience fin by Kevin skvarna from flying diamonds pushed all the way forward in the box on my 10’ CJ Nelson Sprout. It’s a nice carving template with really solid depth for stable nose rides. Not sure what size your board is but the 10.25” or 10.75” would probably be really good for you.
