  • After watching a fellow youtuber struggle to glue and clamp a mitered frame I thought I would make a quick video to demonstrate how easy it is if you know how.

      Tushita Pureland Thanks for your comment. I'm a humble, no nonsense kind of person but I have a great deal of knowledge, tips and skills I have acquired over the past 20 years. So my videos aren't as entertaining as my American counterparts but they have useful content.

    Watched your video last night . I don't have any clamps or a workshop, so have to do projects in my living room! I wanted to reassemble an old mitered frame and give it a more updated look. Today I went to home depot and found exactly what you used to do the job. The sales people doubted it would work and recommended a $30 item. I stood my ground however and bought the strap with a ratchet for $2.79. Well, it worked perfectly! Thank you so much for the great idea! 😊

      So glad my simple solution worked perfectly for you. People who recommend expensive alternatives don't have much experience.
      I'm actually visiting the USA this week and next and I'm looking forward to visiting home depot and lowes

    I just used this method with 3 mitred frames and it worked perfectly! Just loose, glued sides and a loose strap...click click click, closer closer, and BAM perfect corners with 90-degree perfection. Have I said perfect enough? This method is golden!

    I bought two of these a few months back. They actually came with little plastic 90 degree corners for each end of the frames. I haven't used them yet but I can see how handy it will be when I do. Thanks for the demo! I also bought a Kreg K5 pocket joinery screw jig system (also yet to be used).

    Thank you for sharing this video. I am going to try it. On a picture frame, if the bottom long piece has been cut short, I was thinking of cutting the top long piece short as well but widening the rabbet/rebate (UK English). Would this work?

    • @spendtimesavemoneydiy
      @spendtimesavemoneydiy  Před rokem +1

      I've seen literally 100s of videos of people messing about with clamps and jigs. All you need is a cheap ratchet strap 👍🏼

    • @oldporkchops
      @oldporkchops Před rokem +1

      @@spendtimesavemoneydiy You are right. I tried at least three other types of clamps. None works as well as the ratcheting strap clamp.

    • @stevecarter8810
      @stevecarter8810 Před 9 měsíci +1

      Well your pieces on opposite sides need to be matching length and you can't cut things longer, only shorter. So then an increased rebate on the other two sides to allow for the glass/whatever makes sense to me
