  • Very brief excerpt of the Stones on BBC TV's Juke Box Jury in 1964.
The band were criticised for giving negative reviews but here they give a positive review of "Tobacco Road" by the Nashville Teens.

The band's manager at the time, Andrew Oldham, talks about this in his book 'Stoned', this exactly what he says: "With no prompting from me, they proceeded to behave as complete and utter yobos and in twenty-five minutes managed to confirm the nation's worst opinion of them once and for all. They grunted, they laughed among themselves, were merciless towards the drivel that was played and hostile towards the unflappable Mr Jacobs [the host].This was no planned press move. Brian and Bill made some effort to be polite, but Mick and Keith and Charlie would have none of it".

The Beatles they weren't. Overrated under talented yobs.

"With no prompting from me" ....sure. It was all round decided they should be the anti Beatles.
Don't believe that Charlie acted the yobbo. He might've been his usual withdrawn self. Or otherwise bending over backwards to be a gent.
Jagger & Richards had no trouble at all acting the yobbo, for Jagger (polite middle class economics student) that sure would've been *acting* .

@@seltaeb3302 excellent musician's, extremely talented. You may not like them or the music, well that's your opinion and you're fully entitled to it .. BUT to say they aren't talented is just wrong, Keith Richards is always near the top in every single poll of the greatest ever guitarists, same for Charlie as one of Rocks best ever drummers,Brian was a brilliant musician who could pick up any instrument and play it. Bill a great bass player,Mick and Keith are one of the greatest song writing partnerships in the history of Rock and roll.
Come on,nobody can deny their talented, don't like them or their music, well fine, but to say they're not talented, how have no talented hacks lasted 60 years then ?

@@seltaeb3302 Shut the hell up, if The Stones copied from anyone it was black artists, current pools left to claim that they copied the Beatles when they really didn't.
They had to hardly anything in common with the Beatles & they all got along incredibly well. I don't know why you hateful fools just love to be negative for no reason.
You act like their existence has any effect on your life. YOU are the one who is watching a video about The Stones. People like you cannot be more pathetic Jesus Christ!

The only thing I can remember about this clearly is that I couldn't wait for it to go off, because Doctor Who came on next. At the time I loved Doctor Who, Jukebox Jury not so much. This was such a wonderful time to have been a child, on a Saturday Evening in England.
