Ok
Might.
Jimmy's John Lydon impression was priceless
"I don't even hear it any more, even when it's wrong" That is a super cool put down to Edmonds' familiarities!
Thanks for watching and commenting Simon
Billy Connolly and Gerry Rafferty were in a band together so it was no surprise Billy enjoyed the track!
Loved Jimmy’s impression of Johnny Rotten 😂
Only watched it for Judie but amazed to see how young Rick Wakeman looked, in 79.
this was the very first programme i recorded on my first vhs recorder in 1979, great to see it again
You still got the tapes Pete, or are they all long gone?
no sorry long gone
Oh well, thanks for replying Pete
It's funny because it seems Johnny Rotten is the reason this programme didn't completely disappear into obscurity
You are probably right
“When your gran’s making the fire up for the morning” 😂😂
...I loved Angel Eyes, and it was a hit 🙌🎶
Loved this show, thanks for sharing! 👍
@Alison Bond Stansfield Jimmy Pursey is embarrassing here.
@Vincent 79 he’d probably look back on this and agree 🥴 though tbf his Johnny Rotten impression wasn’t bad 😂
So bizarre, I think Jimmy made the show, his impression was perfect and well thought out as he was on the previous show, he's absolutely brilliant - but there again I bet you voted to remain.
@@karendegenerous8044 voted to remain?
Voted to remain ? You mean the smart choice rather than the retarded one ?
Some great music (and some duds).Remember buying the Judy Tzuke tune.Happy memories and great times (in the Air Force back then.).
Thanks for watching and commenting Melvyn
My pleasure👍
Thanks for posting this. A couple of terrific records reviewed here (Roxy Music and Gerry Rafferty), the others were pretty dire though. Judie Tzuke should have had her ears tested if she thought all Gerry Rafferty records sounded the same. Billy Connolly had of course been in the Humblebums with Gerry Rafferty a number of years earlier.
Glad you enjoyed this, thanks for taking the time to comment.
Starjets and Max Bygraves sounded pants but the rest I liked. Those Talbot Matra Ranchos were quite rare even back then, a nice example on the OB in metallic blue.
Love the way Jimmy took the piss out of John Lydon 🤣
Proper legendary, thanks for uploading.
Hate to say it, but back in the day, ol' Noel "Tidy beard" sure was a handsome devil...
Love Jimmy. He has written some amazing songs. Fantastic lyrics.
good value keep em coming☝🏻
Im glad you enjoyed this
Rick Wakemans comment of its the kind of record I'd like to listen to if I went to discos but I don't go to discos so I don't like to hear it was brilliant
Starjet’s “War Stories” peaked at No. 51 in the UK. After one album in 1979, the band renamed themselves Tango Brigade.
Formulaic song: list a load of well-known characters (or comic heroes) and say something. Not sure what they said though. I look forward to hearing Tango Brigade's Greatest Hits, which somehow I completely missed.
@@Ndlanding They then became The Adventures.
@@VincentRE79 Gosh! There's another band I've never heard of. Who knows? They might have been great!
@@Ndlanding Check out Broken Land by The Adventures. Great pop song it is pretty much what The Starjets became in the 80s.
@@VincentRE79 Thanks. I just listened to it and left a comment on the site. Not over-impressed, I'm afraid.
Roxy Music and Gerry Rafferty, great. Others, crap. Jimmy Pursey really livened up that show.
Bootboy at 3.50 sums up the whole show
43 yrs old..omg
44 now, its scary 🤣
So I've finally got the answer to a 43 year old question. Did I actually get my face on the telly whilst on holiday in Llandudno. The answer after several views at x 0.25 is no 🤣.
Judy was cute
She certainly was Gaz
12 inch back in the day
Good show, thanks for posting. Funny how, in those days, whenever they had punk or New Wave bands on these sorts of things, they’d always come out with laddish grins and start acting like monkeys on a car in a safari park.
GOOD!! They were life and you are not.
Actually, I thought the "punk" was both entertaining and smart.
Rick Wakeman and Billy Connolly: ah'd give all mah money tae spend one night at the pub with the both of them!!!!!!!!!!!!!
OMG This is brilliant, what a spectacular blast from the past. But all these years and I didn't realise Jimmy Pursey was so talented.
It's Sunday night, Tommy Robinson's been arrested again, Coronavirus lookdown 2 has been announced, government are a constant let down, let's have a fùćkíñg party!
Glad you found this and enjoyed it
yaxley lennon goes out of his way to be arrested just so he can grift gullible fools. It's his schtick. Love how you think a far right grifter getting arrested is a bad thing......it actually isn't. Too bad they can't put him in prison for ever and we would never need to hear from him again. It's a miss!
You didn’t realise because he isn’t - he’s a twat
“Get It Right Next Time” peaked at No. 30 in the UK, No. 21 in the US.
That's surprising as it gets played a lot still on radio
Didn't even know JBJ was a thing in the 70s
Like judy tzuke music very much, but as an observer of other people's music ie gerry rafferty, erm judy, don't give up your day job! Remember this was 1979,so what a prediction, gerry rafferty will be one of the great songwriters, well Billy would know about gerry🎸🎶😊
Thanks for watching and commenting Doug
Good panel, pace is a bit slow, but enjoyable watch,.
Where's Johnny?? 😂
FIrst time I ever thought the jury was a) interesting/amusing and B) right.
Thanks for watching and commenting
“Angel Eyes” peaked at No. 4 in the UK.
It's supposed to sound like that Rick & Billy..
Gerry Rafferty best song on the show
never heard it before just added to playlist👌🏼rock on bro🤘🏻
Art Bell Coast to Coast Am bumper music, I believe.
Even though they didn't exist then, I thought that "War Stories" sounds like the Go-Gos.
Yeah, I see what you mean. I listened and tried to imagine the Go Gos singing it and it fits, I never realised that until you mentioned it.
Was that Adrian John talking to punters on Llandudno beach?
Yup, he looks quite dated, with his glitter shirt etc, more 1975 than 79
Would of loved to have seen Ian Stuart Donaldson rip on this show with Jimmy and Mensi (rip) 😆😆😀
Remember this from the late 70s. Hoping I find the one with Gary Numans Cars being reviewed
Same here.
Or British ❤😂
Saw Star Jets supporting SLF in 79 great band.
Who were SLF?
@@Ndlanding Stiff Little Fingers
@@lilyjenkins6274 Oh, thanks. Jake and the lads.
@@Ndlanding No problemo, great band saw them twice this year! Jake’s an awesome guy :)
I was born 1979
Oh nice, do you have more of these?
Just the John Lydon which is common on CZcams
Bring back the word, boogie.
Funnily, not one of this week's selections were a big hit.
3:14 - cameraman was a Wrangler fan
Well spotted
There was always bad blood between Pursey and Johnny Rotten, stemming from Pursey teaming up with the remainder of the Sex Pistols. They had a confrontation outside the US embassy in 2005 as well.
As for the music on this one, too many artists jumping on the disco bandwagon (a bubble that was soon to burst.) Starjets "did an Abba" and got back together in 2019 after breaking up in 1980. Guess they wanted to leave something for the grandkids.
Some of the older couples sat in the studio audience dont look like they know what they doing there, maybe just there for a day out..!
Anyone hear the ambulance wgen reviewing gerry raferty.
23:37 That looks like a young Richard Beckinsdale.
Bless him he died in March 1979.
@@MarkStevens8899 It does look like him though.
Not sure what it means, but at 2:30 in, my viewing of this transmission was interrupted by an advert for the Neptune Society, attempting to convince me that cremation is the best way to go. 🤔
I’m sure those audience members , their friends and family get a huge kick out of the nostalgia of this show; which , otherwise, desperately tried to revive the energy of its original 60’s version. Unfortunately Judie’s on a show with three natural comedians, albeit they have varying balance between that and their own musical output. Is it Jimmy, “The Whirlwind “ White at 12:35?, he looks non-plussed by the Carole King song; she’s a great writer and performer, but the single sinks without trace.
Thanks for watching and leaving a very good comment, much appreciated.
Put up the John Lydon or Billy Idol 1979 (John) CZcams (well SLF) wiped all my uploads and best versions for people to view, hope doing well mate.
So did SLF file a complaint to YT and get your other channel closed down? If that's what happened, I am truly sorry, after all the work and time you put into the other channel. Time for me to delete any SLF from this channel. Have a good weekend
@@ScottishTeeVeeIt seems that a lot of it is due to the "Safe Harbor" laws that the likes of CZcams, Facebook etc. Jake Burns I spoke to through e-mail, in which he said said "SLF don't own the rights to their music anymore (been sold off), and it's those people that wanted it all (not just my SLF uploads) but all taken down". Mine was due to uploads of recent BBC4 (SLF) repeats of old Top of the Pops, (which YT is still full of) so I guess my channel was hand picked at random unfortunately for me. I was given no notice (I would have taken them down) and that my whole channel with thousands of uploads was wiped. Seen a few posts of FB with a few other guys who been on YT for a lot longer than mine with everything also wiped. I'm not going to upload it all, started too, but not going to bother now for it all to be taken down by some other artist. Shame, as only wanted to share my posts like us all.
@@mrhbsaucepunkrocknewwavevi7946 I hope you reconsider uploading and resume the uploads, one video each day is all that is needed, drip feed subscribers. I used the community feature on my CZcams account to give your channel a little plug, I hope it helps. You can read what I said about your channel via this link czcams.com/users/ScottishTeeVeecommunity
@@ScottishTeeVee Thanks to an old VHS trader. It's obviously was a huge kick in the teeth at the time John, lost interest to be honest and took it on the chin. Was only trying to share footage, not getting anything from it apart from nice comments and thanks for the upload which was the only recent why i uploaded it all. cheers buddy for your support. Love my music it's a massive support to all the shite we have to go through this later in life.
@@ScottishTeeVee this is why they took down my channel for posting this. czcams.com/video/87MN4FGWrow/video.html
Nothing worse than someone trying to be funny when they are clearly not I.e.Jimmy pursey.
He was funny when he went into doing modern dance. I saw him on French TV prancing around and just thought "WTF"
@@ScottishTeeVee Yeah that career didn't last long. He is back now with Sham 69
Can't argue with the facts presented. He's about as funny as a migraine here.
Fancy trying to outfunny Billy Connelly. He got in the way, Wakeman is witty and obviously BC. They could've had good bants but the sham couldn't shut up.
Gotta get me a Scottish man😂
Isn't that Jimmy White in the audience?
A lot of music from that era sounded like it had bad wow & flutter!
Exactly. 😂
Such a strange choice for the director to persist with showing an audience who look like they'd rather be anywhere else!
The audience shots, would have been recorded before the recording of the show and added in later during the editing. I have been in audience for a few BBC shows and they still do this.
@@ScottishTeeVee But why do they look so miserable?
@@Boxyno1 The 70's was a miserable time😆
Billy Connolly? Wasn’t he the lead singer in Electric Light Orchestra?
Yes he was and before that he was Buffalo Bill Cody
@@ScottishTeeVee Bill Cody? When I was a kid, I think mum had one of his albums!
@@ScottishTeeVee Before then, he was the model for the body on the Turin Shroud.
So how did Billy injure his finger then?
No idea, I guess someone must know.
@@ScottishTeeVee he was going to say but Judy side lined him!
@@kenpudsey6435 Ah well.. Thanks for watching and commenting anyway Ken🙂
@@ScottishTeeVee Your welcome STV..great channel you've got👍
@@kenpudsey6435 Thank you so much Ken😊
😂
That audience was a bunch of zombies.
The audience shots would have been done before or after the show, the audience would be told "pretend you are listening to the music" then the cameras would have taken random shots of audience members as they pretended to listen. I have been in the audience for a few BBC TV shows and everything is not as it appears.
@@ScottishTeeVee They were still zombies. LMAO
@@Briandoesit aye. Like they were handing out valiums on the way into the studio. Big yin and Jimmy gives it a laugh
The "updated" theme is terrible.
Jimmy pursey taking the piss out of Johnny rotten yet when rotten left the pistols, Pursey was begging to join Jones and cook and form a new pistols
Never heard of him
@@Serreski Don't like music, then?
@@tynebar meh, not shit music
@@Serreski Well, the fact you don't know who Jimmy Pursey is suggests otherwise.
@@tynebar lol, sounds like you’re a twat from the 70s - get back to your retirement home grandad
Sham 69 were a truly awful band. Prefered the album version of angel eyes.
Star Jets aound like a poor mans undertones.
Sering as Billy was in a band with Gerry Rafferty he wasnt going to slag it off.
Max Bygraves doing disco? It really had jumped the shark at this point
Hmmm… That John Lydon impersonation is the best thing Pursey has ever done - because his musical career was brilliantly mediocre….
Jimmy’s got nothing on Johnny.
Too much Jimmy Pursey. And suddenly hes all middle class.
Hes also had his eyebrows plucked.

Pursey's impression of Rotten was dreadful.
Sorry, Johnny. He’ll do better next time.
Jimmy pursey is annoying
