The Kobe and Battier battles, mainly the Lakers vs Rockets matchups were always classic to watch! I still remember Kobes classic line "You can't guard me!"
It's always good day to hear stories about the old Greats, but I really appreciate hearing the perspective of those underrated players that silently affected the game!
Pause
“False humility” is WILD! I know a few folks with that, and now I can add that phrase to my lexicon 🤣
Shane Battier is lowkey legendary! I miss seeing my Rockets with TMac, Yao, Battier, Skip, Luther Head, Mutumbo, chuck, etc! That Rockets team would’ve won the ship if we were healthy. We took lakers 7 without any of our best players being healthy lol.
I remember them calling Shane the Kobe stopper with Raja Bell and Bruce Bowen… they didn’t stop him but they made him work. Kobe still got his though. 40+ ppg 😂😂
Battier's hand over the face defense was legendary.
Kobe didn't avg anywhere close to 40, or 35, against any of them. I won't keep lowering the number, or mention the shooting percentage, but Kobe didn't get close to cooking 2 of them.
@@asgasg23he absolutely cooked them 💍x5
@@asgasg23 Lmao he avg 28.8 on battier alone and if u know basketball then u know that to average 28 u have to score more than 28 a lot of times because you will have games that u score less than 28 now with that being said some notable games where he ABSOLUTELY cooked Shane because we don’t even have to talk about him slaughtering Bowen and Patterson no matter what they tried mostly in PLAYOFF games btw; 56, 53, 53, 45, 45, 45 and a PLETHORA of 25+ point games and that’s just on Battier.
@patitoduck123 This kid is is prolly one of those that think Kobe is overrated because of videos like this but can’t seem to stay away from watching and commenting on how much Kobe “ball hogged” “shot poor percentages” which he said numerous times he never gave a fuck about fg% as long as he makes the shots thats needed to win and got 5 rings with that mentality. It’s sad Kobe haters really can’t face facts because when it comes down to it they’re mad he’s greater than their king because of mentality not stats.
Being a Kobe i use to love their battles. I was always a Shane fan simply because I could feel the respect Kobe had for him. Respect
Dude, Battier is the man. Watched that dude his whole career. Favorite Duke player.
Kobe lived for the smoke, even as a teenager, he wanted to play the best and be the best. He lived for those moments and was the greatest tough shot taker of all time.
That's not a good thing kid
@@jonnyblayze5149 who do you think you are talking to? It was a good thing for kobe as he got 5 rings and you have nothing
@@heatman233223 you mean I have the same thing YOU have right. Although I never said I played NBA ball, or wanted to or tried to, or anything of the sort. So why would I have "something" from the NBA? ........if you need a break just put your phone down and rest your neck kid.
@@heatman233223 and my statement stands , that's not a good thing kid.
@@heatman233223 and since it's only you and I here I'll let that first part slide so people won't see how stupi d asking who I was talking to is.🤣😅😆😁🤭👉
RIP one of the GOATS. I love stories like this.
He told this story on the Q and D podcast but still love hearing it, R.I.P. Kobe
Nobody stopped Kobe but they made it tough for him. He still averaged over 30ppg on each “elite defender”.
No,he didnt
THE KOBE RESPECT IS SO REFRESHING COMPARED TO THIS WASH MEDIA AND SELL OUT NEW MEDIA! KEEP IT ABOUT THE GAME! 🔥🔥🔥
Dope.. always respect defenders like this. Hats off SB
I want to hear these stories but Haslem always got to speak like he. Is the toughest guy in the 7th grade.
toughest guy in 7th grade😂😂😂
Really love to hear the role player's perspective against or with the greats
Off the rip KOBE, that’s damn right Shane keepin it 💯 finally no lebron narratives on Kobe
That’s so fucking cool the game within the game ❤❤❤❤❤
shane battier was so cold on defense.
I remember watching an interview battier said he would just try to cover Kobe’s eyes when he would go up for a jump shot. ESPN would show a slow mo of it. Kobe would say that sh!t didn’t work lmao.
Haslem speaks like he was a above average player. Insane
He's a GREAT player in his own mind.
Haslem spent 20 YEARS in the league. Give him some respect.
@@wesismay9309 I give Haslem his due,he was a stand-up guy for the Heat,hard-working,faithful and steady,Riley re-warded him for his loyalty and hard-work with a nice job in the Heat organization. He has a huge mansion sized residence that is-PLUSH-and awesome, but, like you said he put in 20 yrs and was rewarded for it.Did his business the right way ( no drug dealing or other criminal activity )now lives a very nice comfortable life and making mucho money.
The ultimate glue guy
The key is longevity
AMAZING
Respect! @ShaneBattier
Sick story💪🏾
Beautiful conversation, long live #24
That didn't age well
@@jonnyblayze5149 whatever you’re talking about
@@THEFARREEL that made sense....🙄
@@jonnyblayze5149 👍
I feel like battier sounds like what Mike should sound and vice versa.
Merch
Please OG’s don’t ever get on Klutch Sports payroll. I will watch this shit til yall done i stg
If you know you know 😂
Shane was a great defender
Should not mention Melo, he gave yal 50 all jumpers
Shane, you mean that playoff run when kobe said you cant guard me, when he was torching artest and he got ejected.. you mean when kobe threw it off the back board and got the layup on yao, that book.. yea, throw that mfer out 😂😂😂
Til this day, nobody ralks about how LIGHTS OUT SHANE was in MIA. & if he had TMac in 09, he’d likely would’ve beaten Kobe. One of my favorite players ever.
6:30 yes they did 😂😂
Udonis is one of those people who always gives himself a lot more credit than anyone else will. Mainly due to his perception of reality being a total lie. Then again, only someone that narcissistic would take up a roster spot when he adds no value to a team.
Wow Rest easy KOBE
I have to go back to the book to confirm this 😂 but it did sound like Kobe tho
Bean 🐐
Like this story but definitely been told multiple times. lol
Shooting percentages is on thing that Kobe don't care at all. As Long as he wins and win titles that's what only counts for him. He knows he's not as athletic as Mike, He knows he got an inferior anatomy than him as well. But he maximized what he got .
Somebody rumored to be a kobe stopper and that same game he hit 2 buzzer beaters
Kobe never ducked any smoke not even in a physical altercation with the big fella diesel 😂😊
He got banked on by Chris childs
He's told this story like 50x before.
What do you mean untold? Lol 💀
yoooooooooooooooooo
Mike HATES Kobe. He can’t let it go.
First day of training camp and you already know you on a team that aint gonna win the championship lol
Jesus Christ how long does it take to just tell the story without all this other bullshit
But Klay can guard Kobe lol smh
So I attacked him 💀
