This is a genuinely amazing and well crafted game, it deserves as much love and attention as it can, and hopefully it does see worthwhile sales to ensure an Octopath 3

@@cybersoul2809 SE hasn't said anything about the sales at all, it hasn't even been a month since the game launched lmao. The "it flopped" conversation is based on launch sales for II performing lower than the original a game that was announced at the Switch Presentation back in 2017, had heavy marketing for over a year in multiple Directs & was the first 2D-HD game ever released.
It's still early days for II and not a single Team Asano game has failed commercially yet, I don't expect the sequel to their highest selling title to be the first. Give it time.

This game was an improvement over the first in basically every single way, and I absolutely adored Octopath Traveler 1!
They learned a lot from cotc, and even took some amazing stuff from it too

As someone with over 80 hours in this game and has 100% completed everything, this is definitely worth a buy if you like the demo or liked the first one. Improves upon the first in every single way.

@@s.a0411 Nope! You can jump right in with OT2, the games are unconnected except for a few easter eggs and returning enemies. There is a free demo on all platforms that will transfer your save to the full game too.

25 hours into it and I just adore it. Most of my time just exploring the world and grinding. 100% recommended and an early game of the year candidate for me

One of the few Square Enix games, even among all the Final Fantasies, even among all of their other RPGs like Bravely Default and Bravely Second, and even Octopath 1, where I can truly say:

Octopath 2, to sum up in one word would be Majestic.
Really, everything about it was a ride and I thoroughly enjoyed every last second of it. I admit I had trouble starting up because I was unwilling to let go of OT1's cast (That's 100% a me thing) but once I got over myself and gave these new guys a chance, I found that I loved them just as much, if not even more than the previous game's cast! Everything the original did, (a phenomenal game in its own right) this game perfected.
I played this game for 45 hours and just finished everyone's chapter 2 and it's been such an experience. I love the first entry but this game blew it out of the water. They put a lot of content in this game that it felt overwhelming at times, and that's a good thing personally. Main story, cross paths, scent of commerce, collecting items for secondary jobs, etc. I never run out of things to do. Highly recommend for people who like turn based rpg!

I'm ready for Octopath 3!
I played the original Octopath, and honestly, while liking it, thought it was "just another JRPG." So when the sequel came around, I was reluctant to pick it up, but I'm so glad I did. Octopath Traveler 2 is so, so, so, much better than Octopath 1. The writing is better, the characters are more involved, and every character is likable and relevant. I've already sunk 100 hours into it since launch day, and it's probably going to be one of my favourite games of all time. Highly recommend.
This is possibly my favorite turn based RPG ever. The unique structure and battle system allows for so much experimentation and party setups, I had so much find fighting secret bosses with an underleveled party and finding the strategy to pull through, and the rewards have been well worth it. The characters and stories are all really great and a massive step up from the original. And that's not even mentioning the soundtrack and visuals. If you are an RPG enjoyer, this game is definitely for you.
Octopath Traveler is one of the best games ever, already bought 2 and have high hopes for it!
60 hours in and currently trying to gear up my 4man for the endgame.
While some of the secret jobs are a bit of a letdown, giving characters their own unique latent power helps distinguish them from each other.
Hopefully I can hit 100 hours of playtime since the game has grabbed my attention so far.
Don’t listen to the “it’s the same as the first game” reviews. This sequel builds upon the first game while introducing new mechanics like day/night cycles, Crossed Path sidequests and more.
You should definitely give the secret jobs some more consideration. While they're not powerhouses on their own, they can be used to make teams that can do absurd things with latent powers, divine and ex skills, innate abilities, etc. Each of the secret jobs has crazy potential if you theorycraft hard enough. Turn 2 AOE boosted sidestep is back because of one of them, for example.
@@TheSkyfolk I have every secret job on my team, but Conjurer and Armsmaster are pretty underpowered late game compare to inventor and Arcanist.
Partitio is my Arcanist for AoE sidestep/rest
Throné is my inventor for more buff/debuff
Hikari is my conjurer for Giant’s club/battle tested sword
Osvald is my armsmaster for 1.9x ice spell damage/mooneater equip
I say armsmaster and conjurer are underwhelming because most for the divine weapons skills for armsmaster are actually pretty bad, like cosmic roar. Limb for limb>axe of lion heart, and so on
Conjurer is decent for element coverage and having Hikari able to equip giant’s club
@@paradonyx7987 Armsmaster can do some really funny things on Temenos with a dancer in your party. Mass 6 shield break that you could set up on turn 1 with cassti's latent power to give everyone 2 extra BP.

@@paradonyx7987 Have Agnes as your inventor. With her latent, she can give your entire party first turn with Springy Boots, ultra healing and Bp with agnar’s coil, and full enemy crit (although I rather use the latent for buffs).
I was kinda hoping Arlo's accolade would have made it in, lol.
This game is so good I recommend to anyone and everyone
What makes it hard for me to get into this series is the typical turn-based elements and how battles occur randomly. The game looks beautiful but I wish more games tried to do something different with their combat. That’s why I love Xenoblade, beautiful open worlds and really unique combat.
That is just combat preference. Xenoblades is action based and this is turn based. There is nothing wrong with either style and neither should change tbh. It's simply personal preference

I love how on the Title screen you can change it to night qnd get a different version of the main theme.
I adore this game, one of the most fun experiences in an RPG that I’ve had in years, plus it has one of the best soundtracks that I’ve ever heard, its somehow even better than the soundtrack from the first game.
I love this game so much! The nostalgia it gives me for classic JRPGs is amazing, but the game stands on its own as an instant classic. Easily one of the best games of 2023

I got Octopath 1 when it first came out and started with Therion. I had fun, but I stopped playing after the first chapter 2 I beat. I forgot about the game until this came out. It looked good and I wanted to try it but it was hard to justify getting it when the first one was on a 5 year hiatus. So, I started a new file and chose Ophillia, whom I multiclassed into a scholar so she can just magic away anything that looks at her funny. I've had a lot of fun and am just starting on everyone's chp 4.

Honestly, I just picked up the game after hearing the music from the first one without ever playing it. I think the soundtrack is superb!
Just finished Hikari and Throńe's story. I already clocked in at 40 hours. This game made me love turn base RPG again.

This game won me over the moment I started and I just kept loving it more as I got further into it. Even when it got frustrating at its more challenging points, the satisfaction afterwards made it all worth it! I got real invested with the travelers and their stories. I thought one or two were gonna be duds but they all ended up delighting me in no time! This game is a gem, I'm so glad I got it!
25 hours in, and glad to day it is just the start. All in this game is beautiful, you just don't want it to end.

Btw, if anyone is a fan of this game, check out the prequel mobile game. It's not pay to win and it feels like a console game on mobile. It's the only mobile game I've ever enjoyed.

My GOTY
I have almost 62 hours in the game and I haven't quite completed it yet but I adored the first game and was anticipating this title a lot since it was announced. I am on my 7th characters story so far and i have the crossover chapters to do as well and then i have to start farming stat boosting nuts from octopuffs to get strong enough for the post game challenge.

There are some story beats I liked a bit more in 1, but 2 is a very close rival and definitely improves on gameplay. Though I was disappointed that we couldn't hot swap between all 8 in battle like in the mobile game.
Temenos is my main character and Ophilia in the first one.

@@jujuraffe3732 Just beat it like 2 days ago, and I’m already 10 hours into the endgame. Xeno 3 was by far my favorite game in the last 5 years, and I’m relishing every moment. I’m going to beat it 100% and then start up Octopath.

Octopath Traveler is one of the best new IP from Square Enix in recent years IMO. Even the main theme alone felt like a classic and nostalgia inducing. OT2 improved the 1st even more! You go Team Asano!
