To properly celebrate 35 years of the Game Boy™ system, we have to take it back to year one! Game Boy launched in 1989, and with it arrived classic titles such as Baseball, Alleyway™ and the first Super Mario game available on the system, Super Mario Land™. Today, Nintendo Switch Online members can play all three of these original launch titles as the latest additions to the Game Boy - Nintendo Switch Online library. All just in time for the system’s 35th anniversary!

I didn't think about it but honestly I thought about getting a cartridge a few days ago lol
I bought Alleway physically for 5 dollars while visiting my friends in Ohio during Christmas 2023 and ever since then ive been counting down the days
I own the cartridge! I have no idea how I got it but I played it a lot as a kid.
Alleyway is actually a pretty underrated breakout clone
I can still remember it... The satisfying sound effect chain whenever you can manage to get the ball bouncing between the upper wall and the targets in Alleyway

Super Mario Land, my first video game crush. I was about 6 years old, but I a friend bought it's Gameboy with Batman, Double Dragon and Mario Land. I tried the two first game and thought they were nice, but for some reason I was blown away by Super Mario Land. I think that's the day I became a gamer, for better or worse.

@@grawman67Granted, Nintendo stated the reason they release retro games slowly is because they wish to focus on making newer games then releasing old ones.
The thing people don't understand is, Nintendo doesn't have a magic button that make old games work on new systems. They still have to find the original game data in their archives, bug test them, make sure they work perfectly, and put em in the eShop ap.

Edit: Ok, the video description explains that the update is a GB celebration, which is why all 3 titles are from the first year of the system.
Not just the first year, April specifically. They're the first Game Boy games aside from Yakuman (a Japan-exclusive mahjong game) released in Japan.

They do have online, or do you mean the single player games? Not sure why you'd want that, unless you want to take turns with another player.

One of my friends who now lives in another state didn't start gaming until N64, so we've run through lots of the classic NES, SNES, and Genesis games together. It was a huge disappointment when we couldn't do Minish Cap, Mario & Luigi, Link's Awakening, Metroid Fusion, etc together
Me and the rest of the people are waiting for our old GB and GBA Pokemon games still.
It would be a Pokemon Co decision which Nintendo is only a third of. Still, I agree. We need to have the games
