The other is that it is small and fairly easy to use. The instructions weren't too great but we played with it awhile and figured it out. Can see very well in our back yard down to the woods which is roughly a football field length in the dark. There were certainly more expensive ones out there but this works for us and was within our price range. We have not tried the video recording portion and may update the review later.

I genuinely wonder if these are the top of the line NVGs as of 2022. Or could there be other NVGs in development that are superior to these that we don't know about?
There are other NVG with different feature sets such as fusion systems. Fusion systems definitely are more expensive and have more features but if those features aren't needed you are throwing money at something that could be a waste. The GPNVG is still a top of the line goggle with tons of merit.

@@corvoattano4777 The BEST nightvision in the world is a FUSED SENSOR at 4096 by 1080 pixel 50 Microns per Photosite CMOS-based Greyscale digital image sensor at 16 bits (65536 levels of brightness) nightvision STEREOSCOPIC goggle set that use 2.35:1 Anamorphic Quartz lenses to give a FULL 240 degrees field of view on an UPSCALABLE 8192 by 2160 pixel 16-bits per channel OLED greyscale display.
The Second set of Sensors are Short, Medium and Long-wave passive Infrared sensors places abobe teh CMOS sensors that have their separate imagery overlaid on top of the CMOS imagery and then use real-time SOBEL or CANNY edge detection and UNSHARP MASK edge enhancement filters along with realtime user-selectable luminance and contrast enhancement sliders/knobs and user-selectable overlays of targeting crosshairs and graticules plus range finder distance metadata along with digital vector maps and overhead satellite views, 3D terrain maps and daytime-taken ground/street-level photo maps, plus Date/Time/GPS/3D-XYZ Orientation metadata display and recording PLUS instantaneous real-time Lanczos-2/Lanczos-5 based pixel resampling for 2x/3x/4x/6x/8x/12x/16x/20x digital zoom-in/zoom-out. Add in SONAR/LIDAR/RF//MM-waveform-based 3D distance scanning data that ALSO gets fused with the bitmap imagery to give 3D-stereoscopic viewing and real-world 3D depth-perception.
That is the world's BEST FUSION-based nightvision system!

I saw cag with these 13 years ago. I was told they were thermal + night. We had crappy pvs14, guess the civilian market really is a generation or two behind. Can’t imagine what the last 13 years in technological advances has created.

God I hope night vision gets more affordable in the near future.
When I was 10-11 years old some Air Force special forces and security forces guys came to my school (the military is popular with my town). They let us kids try on some nvgs and my child mind knew I needed some. My adult mind now still needs some.

They are "on the market" but are only being produced in extremely small batches for only the government.

That's PVS-14 territory depending on tube quality. 31s are around 13k.
what type of mount works best with this?
A Wilcox G24. Just make sure to buy new or know that it is the updated longer travel version.

what's the benefit of ball detent vs dovetail and are the 2376 minimum FOM panos available to the public or is it just the civillian 1792 minimum FOM that's available?
The ball and detent is simply for flight. There is really no reason to use anything other than the dovetail ruggedized variant unless you are in a cockpit. Correct, unfortunately the 2376 min fom is still restricted. The civilian variant is a 1792 min fom. However they can come in higher.
You can buy a 2019 audi s5 with like 40k miles for the same price but me being me ima definitely get some nods if i get 50k

@@farmboy6441 save up and get yourself PVS 31s or DTNVS’s. We used 14s in the infantry and they’re trash. We now have 31s in the infantry and they’re amazing. Save up for better ones. Trust me
Are these better than the Eotech 4eyes??? I don’t know?
Eotech does not make a pano system. They used to distribute L3Harris GPNVG's and so they would often be listed as an Eotech product even though they never where.
