Happy little chickies

Barbie is still being an excellent mom to her clutch of adoptees, fussing about them, showing them what is good food, and in general teaching them all about chickening. These good mothering instincts caused her some distress today though. I did a good cleaning of their little private apartment, which made it necessary for me completely empty out the enclosure before starting the cleanout. Mom did not like that I picked up all of her babies and put them in a cardbord box, but this was less scary for them than me trying to do the cleaning with them running around inside. Plus it gave me an opportunity to give them a quick check up. Verdict: All look just fine!
The babies are also starting to grow some real wingfeathers (which helped two of the little fluffsters to escape the box, so I had to capture them again) and are starting on itty-bitty tailfeathers, too.
