Located on Faroe Island's second largest island of Eysturoy, the capital of Tórshavn is home to just under 15,000 people making it one of the least populated capital cities in Europe!
Faroe Islands is a beautiful country and its capital is no different. From historic grass-roofed homes in the Reyn Historic district to one of the oldest parliaments in the WORLD! Today I will be taking you around this beautiful capital, sharing some history with you and show you the highlights that you must visit when you visit Tórshavn!

Wow , so beautiful Faroe 🇫🇴 islands . Greetings from beautiful tropical Hawaii islands ⛵️ 🏝
Thanks so much from watching! I have not been to Hawaii yet! What island are you from?
Two my favorite archipelagos Hawaii and Faroes❤
I loved my time in Torshavn! When we visited St. Olaf's there was nobody there and it was so peaceful. The Faroes are just wonderful.
The Faroes have such a unique landscape and yes- not many tourists make it there or even dare to explore! What time of the year did you go?
@@LukeGeeTravels My daughter and I went as part of Closed For Maintenance at the end of this past April. It was the best trip!
@@hiimterry2009 oh that’s awesome, I know Faroe Island does that every few years and I really love how they take care of their country!❤️
That's so beautiful. It might be very quiet and relax there. Charming city and island itself. Definitely worth of visiting and exploring at least 3-4 days. It makes me think of Bergen in Norway, or Visby in Sweden. Scandinavia is so gorgeous and stunning place to discover. Great video, good job. Thank you.
Thank you for watching and your comments! I have not been to Norway but I have been to Stockholm. I really love the Scandinavian architecture, simple yet beautiful
BEAUTIFUL VIEWS! 📸👀👌💥🌟🤗👍🏻NICE VLOG! THX.
Thank you for watching Pauline:)
Your advice about respecting the local residents is absolute gold. Thanks for the video :D
It’s polite to respect them because especially in Faroe Islands, many of the places are privately owned so the owners could just look it up for good. Thank you for watching!
The most beautiful country flag in my opinion 🇫🇴 🇫🇴 🇫🇴 🇫🇴
It is very aesthetic, I agree with you!
Excellent video. Very interesting selection of sites, well described, and allow me to say you have an engaging smile and a charming personality.
Thank you very much! I have been told that when it comes to travel, my eyes just light up. I love sharing these places because I know most of my friends or family will never visit themselves
Nice video about Tórshavn, Video looked good.
Thank you for watching! Glad you enjoyed it
Is it weird I watched this because I have a pokemon go friend who lives there? That's so beautiful, I would love to visit.
Not at all, glad you enjoyed the video! It’s a beautiful city and country when you do go and visit!
Guess the Vikings playing Pokémon Go these days 🤷
This one is great, no wonder the best one!😊🙏🏻👍🏻
I'm glad you think so! Thank you for watching Ming!
Beautiful video, i subbed 🎉
Thank you so much! Welcome to the channel!
I like roof with grasses😮🎉🎉
They’re beautiful and unique!
Used to have a girl friend here. Visited her family and sisters here. Wonderful memories . Took a ferry from Aberdeen. Rough as one could imagine. (Skillicorn)
That must have been a great experience, but I can imagine crossing those seas from Scotland is no Joke! Thank you for watching Will!
Love the fishing community and their civic pride. I’m enjoying your enhanced editing skills!
Ehh, trying but i’ve been using my sony camera for future videos so you will definitely see some more quality! But yes the Faroes are really quiet which I absolutely loved not having to deal with places jam-packed with tourists
@@LukeGeeTravels Sincerely, I appreciate your videos and perspective. The cinematic effects have not gone unnoticed!!
@@BobI-jb4rk I really appreciate that more than you know! Because of comments like yours I want to keep improving while continuing to share these parts of the world with everyone.
LOVE THAT THEY ARE STILL KILLING WHALES ??
@@123rusty4 i’m not sure what you are referring to. If you’re referring to whale hunting, it’s a tradition that’s been passed on from generations. It’s how the faroese people survive, why is that wrong?
Невероятная красота как в сказке❤
Yes it is! Beautiful country with magical landscape! I recommend people come to Faroe Islands🇫🇴❤️
MERCI thank you from france . the place is sooooo nice
You’re welcome! Enjoy if you decide to go! Beautiful country!💙
@@LukeGeeTravels THANK YOU
Looks like somewhere in the Icelandic Westfjords.
I have never been but it’s on my list! Norway too! 🇳🇴
My dream destination
It’s so beautiful and the nature feels untouched! I highlyy recommend it!
Wow Nice your video love you From Bangladesh 💖💖🇧🇩🇧🇩
Thank you so much for watching! ❤️🇧🇩
Lol, city. But I guess it is relative to the rest of the Faroes. My town is about the same population in Connecticut to the whole country.
Torshavn is really fun though. I recommend visiting the Faroe Islands
Very relative but you’re right, thoroughly enjoyable, clean and not crowded at all city - which I loved!
Where in connecticut are you from? I am hoping to make a roadtrip through the east coast, mainly coastal cities because I love lighthouses
May I ask what is the best period to visit the islands? I know the weather is much like in Scotland and Ireland changing much and can be cold or warm in a same day, but what periode would be most recommended? Also not too touristy but more hotel availability for spontaneous cruises around the isles instead of planning everything ahead of time
The most popular or best season is between May - August. The puffin colonies return to the islands, much more sunshine and opportunity for better weather. I did this trip in the beginning of September and had amazing weather for most of my time, unfortunately I did not get to see the puffins. I did a whole video explaining a visit to Faroe Islands here: czcams.com/video/KmWYU0J7gug/video.html
@@LukeGeeTravels thanks a lot; I didn’t know of puffins and was thinking of late April but obviously better in May or June or maybe late August escaping the summer heat and to have that fresh air
@juli8vdberg562 you have to spend a little more than some other countries because it is an island so things are generally expensive. It’s not as expensive as I thought and definitely rent a car!
@@LukeGeeTravels well of course.. it imports much of what it needs and surely requires a car to get around seeing places around the islands … tours are way too expensive and offer short time to hike and explore on your own
@@juli8vdberg562 I agree! One company you may want to look into is Guide to Faroe Islands and I would recommend at least one week to explore few of the islands. They're all very unique and have a lot to offer
I would like to move to the Faroe Islands. What would you recommend for me to do to move there?
I’m sorry but I have no idea what it takes to live there. It probably all depends what kind of jobs you’re looking for and how hard it is to get one
Very beautiful but I thought It was still a part of the Kingdom of Denmark and not a fully independent country!
Thank you for clarifying! Hope you enjoyed the video
They are not fully independent they have autonomy but defence and other things is the responsibility of Denmark
I’ve learned that now as people have pointed out, I appreciate the comment!
Did you try any whale/orca whilst you stayed?
I did not:/ I looked for it but I skipped out on the fancy restaurants while in Torshavn due to the fact that I wanted to be within my budget
☝️👏❤️✊
Thank you for watching!
Ich mach Urlaub in Ländern mit lustigen Ortsnamen
Oh really! What other countries have you been to?
Sportwagen selbes Land wie die Escort-Dame
Danke! Aber ich hasse es, wenn ein Bild nur eine Sekunde lang zu sehen ist.
I am trying to get better at leaving longer clips, hopefully you’ll enjoy future videos on this channel
I thought Valetta was the smallest one
You could be right, different sources say different things
WHY IS MY BAT HERE?????????
Your bat?! I dont understand
You're very beautiful.
Thank you😅
Don't know why some youtubers (maybe sadly not surprising) don't do their research properly when they anyways try to mention factual things... Faroe islands are not a country it is part of the Danish Kingdom... Simple fact that's not difficult to get right!
I appreciate your comment, however, I did mention Faroe Islands are part of Kingdom of Denmark but they have their own government and are autonomous. To me, that signifies an independent country. We can agree to disagree
@LukeGeeTravels just does an independent country have parliament members in another countries' government then ?
@Rene-kg7pf i do not get that deep into politics, I’m simply trying trying to share a general overview of the places I’m visiting. Sorry if this has upset you.
@LukeGeeTravels no its not about anything you say I express what I mean I don't hide anything... its like you have broken up in a relationship but still then see your ex (not totally on your own as you want or say you are) extra to that I say no matter how much you don't care about politics it is actually where its decided and agreed upon if you are a sovereign country or not... And also then if you are you will be on the UN list over countries right? You are not therr yet sorry how ever much you want to be... And yes I still believe in fact checking before making a video
@@LukeGeeTravelsevery state in the USA has a parliament (called State Legislature or General Assembly). Also, these states are more than autonomous, they're officially sovereign, just as the federal government. Yet, no one refers to Alaska, Hawaii or even Guam as countries, simply because it's not what they are. The same thing applies to the Faroe Islands.
There is a principle in international law that to be considered a sovereign country, an entity must be able to enter into diplomatic relationships with other countries/governments. Apart from some limited aspects, and since 2005 only, the foreign relations of the Faroe Islands are handled by Denmark.
Currently, the Faroe Islands are not a sovereign country, but maybe they will be in the future.
What you see here is money. A lot of money.
How so?
@@LukeGeeTravels everything is beautiful and there is not a single house in disrepair. That requires a large disposable income.
@@donepearce that is true! And i think people really care about their land and preserving it
Tbh its really small and there's not much to do
It’s small but the old historic part is great to stroll through and it’s a perfect place to stay to start many adventures
Where is all the Arabs?
I have no idea, maybe this isnt a destination they want to see
We do not need Arabs in the faroes. Thank you.
buldings, no rum i vidio or mind. time robber."!
I’ dont understand your comment but thank you for watching
It's not Europe
What continent do Faroe Islands belong to in your opinion?
Respect the whales and the sea, murderer!
I respect people’s cultures.
have you been there ? No with such a blunt answer. There's animal cruelty in EVERY country in the world. Don't judge a book by it's cover, read the damned pages !
I’m glad you understand😊 The Faroese people use the meat from these whales to survive and feed themselves, but people from the outside see a headline and judge without knowing the facts🤷🏼♂️
And they Slaughter 1400 whales a year! Disgusting and Shameful behavior!!
That’s a false accusation that media portrays. Please read further into what is actually happening, how the locals use the food and talk to the Faroese people to learn more!
@@LukeGeeTravels Facts are Facts!
What else can they really eat ?
I like roof with grasses😮🎉🎉
It’s really good for the environment and it provides great insulation for the homes! I really love the Scandinavian architecture
