  • SPANISH for Nurses/Spanish for Doctors/ Spanish for Healthcare providers/ Spanish for Nursing student- Beginning Spanish for Medical Professionals is a series that will show you how to have a basic Spanish conversation for beginners and made easy to prevent language and cultural barriers to interfere with your ability to provide high-quality care, and to build relationships with Spanish speaking patients and friends!
    * Spanish is the most commonly spoken language in the world, so it is important that as healthcare providers you learn Spanish medical terms for nurses/
Spanish for medical professionals in order to understand your Spanish-only patients.
📍My first language is Spanish, so I totally understand how you feel when you can not communicate with your patient, and have to rely on the language line which is a very impersonal approach, especially when trying to build rapport (trust) with your patients.
📍We are starting a Spanish series that is designed to help you:
    1. Make a personal connection with patients and their families
    2. Facilitate patient orientation
    3. Assess patient comfort ( and every other system assessment)
    4. Gather and convey basic information
    5. Inform and instruct about basic procedures
    6. Prepare the patient for discharge This week we are focusing on
    "COMMON TERMS, GREETINGS & FAREWELLS."

This is so amazing to hear. Thank you so much. I realized that I have been speaking to patients very informally (the Spanish-speakers I know speak extremely informally. Our Spanish is known for being a little less proper, apparently!). This is so helpful and might improve my rapport with patients. I get so embarrassed when they seem frustrated with my inability to speak the language and we don't have translation services (due to after-hours, broken equipment, etc.). Again, thank you

Que bueno! Just what I was looking for. My accent is a mishmash of Spain and Mexico and Central American Spanish. Having something to listen to and repeat along with is going to help with consistency in pronunciation.
